Hello ladies ? bit nerve wracking moving over to ante natal but thought I?d be brave! Here?s to a trouble free 8 or so months for us all! And hoping lots more of us move over very soon.

Step away from your thermometers ladies. That way madness lies.

Sits back. Feels a bit lonely. Waits for others.

Feet up hen, chick movie and chocolate as well as the cat. Fab that you have been signed off :)

batteryhen · 04/05/2011 16:51

Thanks nicks. I had my hcg results today - 14,778 done yesterday at 5+3. I am having them done again tomorrow, so I know one alone does not say much but I do feel a bit happier. Particularly as I have had no more spotting. I am exhausted with all this worry!

spilttheteaagain · 04/05/2011 18:42

wow that's a lot of HCG battery! Bearing in mind the pg tests give positives at just 10-50 depending on brand! Excellent that your doc is looking after you and keeping you at home. I can imagine it is terrifying and shattering, but try to distract yourself with some feel good films/books or something. Hoping for a lot more HCG for you tomorrow.

mouse I hope the scan has given you the news you wanted today.

I am having a wibble of nervousness about how big and uncomfortable I am going to become Confused. I feel massive already and waddle a bit at times and get breathless if I sit for too long (chest gets squashed), and then hips get achy. This is not going to be pretty at 40 weeks is it?!

Feeling virtuous today as I spotted the bag of carrots was going manky in the fridge so I whizzed up a batch of carrot & coriander soup instead of thinking sod it, they only cost 50p and letting them rot (normal state of affairs). Pregnancy induced laziness has got me into terrible bad habits Blush

LadyGoneGaga · 05/05/2011 08:03

This will be my last post for a while as off on hols for two weeks.

But just wanted to wish Battery lots of luck for her scan on Friday - will be thinking of you. And hope the bleeding stays away. And hope Mouse got the all clear on her scan too.

Well done on the virtue front, Spilt - carrots don't last long in our house though as I have a massive craving for them. And don't worry about getting huge - you look quite neat to me. Yes, third trimester is a bit uncomfortable but it actually goes quite fast compared to the first!

Hope everyone else is well - would name check everyone but too lazy to read back. Got a mountain of things to do before we go!

batteryhen · 05/05/2011 09:16

Morning everyone. Off to the hospital in a minute for bloods, just thought I would pop in quickly to say to lady have a fab holiday :)

split I can't wait to get huge Grin (obviously praying this will happen)

Anyone on this thread pg with their 2nd and going to be working FT after mat leave or is it just me that needs my head testing?

nickstermum · 06/05/2011 14:46

Urm yeah MrsA that would be me then... second kiddiewink, restricted on the old Mat Leave (due to financing house and relocation flat for DH) and have a fab job that i simply cannot walk away from - so yes i will be going back FT :( The way i look at it is that its for their futures..... and both DH and I need to work to give them the finer things in life...:)

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 06/05/2011 14:57

More or less snap nicksters I'm glad I'm not the only one - get a lot of teeth sucking atm when I tell people I'll be going back FT to work next year.

I do feel guilty but I am the main earner here. Sadly DP works his arse off but is self-employed so doesn't bring in a huge amount atm. Hoping things will perk up soon.

Do you use FT nursery or a childminder? Not sure what to do re childcare. DD is at nursery 3 days and with MIL 2 days but she's said she can't have this one as she's too old now. So looking like nursery 5 days a week. I'm feeling a bit guilty about this and wonder should I consider a childminder? Probably a thread for another day, sorry for taking over!

nickstermum · 06/05/2011 15:15

same here 3 days at pre-school followed by 2 days with each Gma. That will change though when we move darn sarf as wont have the GP;s local to us. DS will be starting pre-school 5 mornings a week in sept anyway (depending on where we are). I think we will end up looking at CM. Worry about the risk of institutionalising them at nursery x 5 days! Plus also its knackering for them... Havent really thought that far ahead, but i suppose i must !!

Guilt - yes! Happy about it? Not really...but hey ho!

batteryhen · 06/05/2011 18:43

hello :)

Just to let you know I had my ealry scan today and saw a lovely heartbeat. am 6 weeks and have started on my blood thinning injections. EPAU want to scan me again in 3 weeks whcih is good. I feel very sick right now but i am taking that as a good sign :)

MRSa will fb you x
nicks have pm'd you x

spilttheteaagain · 06/05/2011 19:06

Aaw congratulations battery Smile That's great news. Less great on the sickness... the novelty of that soon wears off doesn't it! Has the spotting stopped?

mousebaconmakestinysandwiches · 06/05/2011 19:15

My scan was clear ladies!

No sign of ov or anything but at least the uterus is empty. Lovely consultant has offered me an early scan next pregnancy (and the option to ring her if it takes a long time to actually get pg) so all in all GOOD NEWS!!

Now, just need to get through going back to work and life will be normal again..until I get another BFP... Grin

spilttheteaagain · 06/05/2011 19:18

Congratulations to you to mouse, you sound much brighter for it. I saw on the Conception thread that your work are being gits and trying to push you into a demotion Sad. Really sorry to hear that and I hope you can fight it if you want to. Good luck going back next week. How long have you been off? I remember how daunting I found it going back. Sending supportive vibes xx

batteryhen · 07/05/2011 18:12

hello ladies. Can I ask a question?Has anyone had a blled in their pregnancy? I had a bit of a bleed this morning red/brown. Not loads, and now just back to brown spotting. Obviously am worried sick, but also know it could be nothing. I started with the blood thinning injections yesterday so I wonder if it is anything to do with that. Why do these things happen on the weekends??

nickstermum · 07/05/2011 20:22

Battery, i bled brown only twice but have had discoloured throughout this pg. Lots of peeps in freak out and grads have bled RED (orangegloss/wombat) continuously... and everything has been fine. Hopefully its just a one off xxx

spilttheteaagain · 07/05/2011 21:10

I had a small red bleed at nearly 11 weeks for one evening but it wasn't indicating a problem. Terrifying. Good that it has reduced and gone brown again. Can you get seen by anyone to check it out? Good luck x

GetDownYouWillFall · 08/05/2011 19:49

Hi ladies

Sorry you had a bit more bleeding battery it's so horrible. As you can see, others have had this and been fine. But I know it's so worrying. I had a bit of brown bleeding at around 10 weeks but everything was ok. Hope it's nothing.

Glad your scan was clear mousebacon. Let the charting and the DTD-ing commence!

Well, I have booked my hypnobirthing course Grin The place most local to here is called "Calm Beginnings" and the lady I spoke to seemed really lovely and understanding. Plus she charges the same for a private course as she does for a group course, which I was thrilled about as it means she will come to our house, we don't need to travel, and we don't need to worry about a babysitter each week for DD.

I am over half way through the hypnobirthing book I got from the library. So much of it makes soooo much sense. I like it because it is rooted in biology and can be explained. It's not just airy-fairy "think-yourself-out-of-pain" rubbish. The tecniques are about increasing your natural endorpins (which you CAN do) and enabling your muscles to relax and the uterus to do it's job of naturally opening the cervix. Also I was a bit Hmm at first about the "breathing down the baby" (i.e. don't PUSH the baby out) because I remember with DD it was ALL about push, push, push. But actually pushing against tight, tense muscles, no wonder it flipping hurts and ends up knackering your pelvic floor and goodness knows what else. Better to let the muscles do the job, and also use gravity to your full advantage, rather than being strapped to a bed with my legs in stirrups like I was with DD Angry

Anyway, just would encourage you ladies to get the book from the library and have a read, see what you think. I'm not totally convinced yet, but love the idea of a relaxed and calm birth this time round!

Oh, and look at some of these gorgeous white stuff tunic tops Do you think I can get away with getting one or three and using them as maternity tops??!

nickstermum · 08/05/2011 22:37

Battery, I don't have a pm from you hon, please don't think I am ignoring you xx

newyearsday · 09/05/2011 14:33

Hello everyone, hope you're all ok?

I made 40wks! I've really enjoyed my maternity leave so far but am getting a bit fed-up at the mo. cos of the false labour contractions which go on for hours and then, frustratingly, tail off. It's happened twice this weekend. I'm trying everything like yoga, ball bouncing, long walks, resting, raspberry tea, sex, massage and positive thinking to get things moving...but it's hard to relax because I just want to get on with it! I really wasn't prepared for this.

Anyway, trying to keep busy and active. I'm seeing my MW on Weds so hope to find out if all the activity has had any effect on my cervix. Maybe labour will start properly before Weds - fingers crossed!

Good luck everyone with new BFPs, scans, 2nd & 3rd trimesters and congrats to Bessie on her new baby. I'll keep checking back to see how you're all getting on.

xx

PS I got a White Stuff smock top in the xmas sale and it fit me up until recently, I figured it'll look good post-baby too...I can't wait to buy normal clothes again!

spilttheteaagain · 09/05/2011 16:58

Well done newyears! 40 weeks sounds so far away to me! I hope things get going for you very soon and we look forward to your birth story Smile

battery how are things today? Have you seen anyone to be checked?

It's quite a good book isn't it GetDown? I hope you enjoy your course. When is that starting?

Iwish hope you're ok and those kiwis have done the trick Wink

pippa thinking of you x

Not much to report here. 25+1 today and 2 weeks exactly until my next scan. She's been moving differently over the last 3-4 days. Less of the big kicks and more general squirming and smaller flicks. I don't notice them as much unless I'm paying attention so I have been more stressed again. Seeing MW on Weds so I will ask her about it. I suspect it's that there's less room now for the acrobatics. She's still moving a lot and frequently which is the main thing. HB nice and strong on the doppler too.

GetDownYouWillFall · 10/05/2011 20:40

Thanks spilt not starting the course till end of June as DH is working silly hours until then sadly. But she is going to send me the CD in advance so at least I can get started by listening to that. I actually cried today thinking about DD's birth - they made me do the whole pushing stage with my legs in stirrups which was agony and hardly the best position for birthing a baby. It made me really upset again thinking about it for some reason. "No stirrups" is definitely going in my birth plan!!

How is everyone doing?

I feel like there is real pressure now under my ribs, especially after I've eaten. Baby is quite quiet though, although maybe I am just rushing around too much to notice, I don't know. Don't feel an awful lot of kicks although it is busier in the evenings.

best wishes to newyears how exciting you are so so so nearly there! Can't wait to hear your news.

battery how are you doing? Hope you've not had any more bleeding?

spilttheteaagain · 11/05/2011 19:57

GetDown I'm not surprised that the memories are distressing, you had a bloody awful time of it. Really hope you get the 3 coughs and a baby style birth this time. It happens to some people, we can all live in hope!

I know exactly what you mean about the pressure under the ribs. I find digesting lunch really hard at the moment and get awful trapped wind most afternoons which hurts.

After saying baby was being more gentle and subdued she has gone nuts today Grin Doing a jive I reckon. My side was like a cauldron rippling away which a few almighty kicks thrown in for good measure!

MW appointment went well, my wee passed muster. And I have 19 working days left

GetDownYouWillFall · 11/05/2011 20:02

Wow 19 working days left spilt how exciting!! How much time have you then got before your due date (sorry rubbish at remembering). I remember having a month off before DD arrived and it was bliss as I got stuff sorted, packed my hospital bag ridiculously early and had loads of lovely naps during the day!

Glad to hear little girl is giving you lots of reassuring squirms! It's amazing when you can see the skin rippling isn;t it. I've hardly felt baby getdown today, hoping it is ok in there. I have been on my feet pretty much all day though so not much chance to sit and feel anything.
