can't believe we're on number 16. wow!!! we are a chatty bunch

Kiwifruit · 20/09/2005 15:55

I'm bored too Andif, and don't really have the energy to do anything. Just wandered around the corner to the beauty therapist to make an appointment to get my legs and lady bits waxed tomorrow, in anticipation of the big event.

Just got an email from a friend in NZ who had a baby boy on the 9th - he's very cute, and sounds like they're doing well.

Might go and lie on the bed and do my hypno-birthing CD. Guaranteed to put me to sleep, which will kill a couple of hours

singleteenagemum · 20/09/2005 16:41

Afternoon all,

Just back from hospital.....a complete waste of time!

As they booked my appointment for before my due date they said they didn't want to talk about imduction or anything (my dd is tommorrow). have another booked for next tuesday wen i'll be 40+6, just to check bp and she will then book an induction date but will NOT be doing a sweep....you ask why not? because they don't do that until you're 10days overdue.....wtf? i hear you ask...am just about to ring my own mw and ask her to come round and do one for me at the end of the week....am an out of area paitient so my mw and hospital never talk to eachother...which will be good I know the mw will try and help and she tried one last week for me, but as said before my cervix is unfavourable...good news am now 4/5s engaged but having a 9lber apparently....o joy

andif · 20/09/2005 16:53

One of dh's work mate's wives was due 2 weeks after me, and had it yesterday! She had an hour or so of discomfort, called midwife (had planned homebirth) then waters went and the baby plopped out on the kitchen floor!!! Only 4lb 12oz though so I'm not so envious really.....

mummyhill · 20/09/2005 17:16

Had a bit of a rest today. Am going to my mums with Dd whilst DH is training tonight so I will get some pampering and don't have to worry about DD cause mum, dad and my sister will entertain her.

Not really looking forward to tomorrow. I want to meet the new baby but am not sure I want to go through the induction bit.

Will try and post in the morning before I go in and will leave instructions for dh or one of my rl friends who frequent the site to post on here as soon as there is any news.

jessysmummy · 20/09/2005 17:34

Oh STM - sorry you didn't get any action, esp since they moved your date 20 days back. Same here - won't even discuss induction/sweeping until term+10, hence my appt on 4th Oct. And where exactly are you hiding this 9lber? Sounds like there's not that much of you to hide such a sizeable bump!
Milward - happy squatting!
Andif - hope the Caullophyllum 200 works. Scary kitchen floor story !
Kiwifruit - beauty therapist...yes to massage, mani/pedicure, facial, etc...waxing...noooooo! Brave lady! Gave up on that months ago as skin gotten so sensitive. Have had to resort to other (patchy) hair removal techniques!

jessysmummy · 20/09/2005 17:36

Oooooh - best of luck mummyhill. Hope all goes ok...just think ...this time tomorrow... x

Kiwifruit · 20/09/2005 17:43

Good luck for tomorrow Mummyhill - will be thinking of you! Hope you get nicely pampered tonight

Hope your miodwife can help you out with a sweep STM. to a 9lber!

Andif - have to agree, much as I'm sick of this, the thought of popping bubs out on the kitchen floor doesn't really appeal, especially if it's that small!

Wonder how Katts got on? I'm guessing that her baby will be here by now...

Kiwifruit · 20/09/2005 17:46

Jessysmummy - am hoping that it might be a good induction method And if not, will be good practice for coping with the pain of labour!

singleteenagemum · 20/09/2005 18:33

Mummyhill - good luck with tomorrow, hope bub makes an appearance tonight or in the morning for you.

Was it katts that was posting the other day whilst in labour??

rang my mw just now and told white lie...lol...she's going to do a sweep on Saturday afternoon...

singleteenagemum · 20/09/2005 18:33

Forgot to ask...this raspberry leaf tea, is it the same as haing raspberry tea?

Kiwifruit · 20/09/2005 20:42

STM - think they are different. Rsapberry tea is just raspberry flavoured (and tastes much better!), raspberry leaf tea has the stuff that helps to thin your cervix... Instead of drinking the tea, you can take RLT capsules for the same effect, without the taste.

Daisydot · 20/09/2005 21:16

Had a hospital appt this PM. All has gone so well so far but today I was told by the doctor in charge that this little baby is breech and that's quite a serious position to be in when you are 40wks plus 3 days and 41 years old. He said the baby is also very big so they would not attempt to try and turn it. My consultant has left, so I am off to Kingston with DH tomorrow at 8.30am to sit and wait until a consultant can see me (in between ward rounds and surgery, which could be a long, long wait). I am to get his opinion which will probably mean I have a ceasarian tomorrow or on Thursday. I soooooo wanted a natural birth after my last birth (induction) and losing our daughter last year to Epilepsy. I had planned on non invasive, natural birth with NO DRUGS. And now it seems that things are all going wrong and I am going to have a ceasarian. Which I find really scary. They are very worried that my waters will break or I go into sponteneous labour because they have said it could be very dangerous for the baby and for me....... Please say a prayer................ Sigh........

Kiwifruit · 20/09/2005 21:44

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} Daisydot! These babies certainly don't like to give us an easy ride... On the positive side, it's good that they've identified that the baby is breech now, rather than finding out when you're in labour. Hope you don't have to spend too much time waiting to see the consultant tomorrow - seem to have been doing a bit of that myself lately .

It's so frustrating having your birth plans scuppered (this has happened to me too), but on the positive side, you may have your baby with you tomorrow, and the waiting will be over !

Keep us posted with how you get on...

Daisydot · 20/09/2005 21:50

Thanks for replying Kiwifruit. Yes I will let you know how I get on. Just want all to be fine with the baby and me. Guess that's all any mum ever wants. I am off to bed now. Guess neither of us will get much sleep, but I will try counting sheep! Hope to have a happy story to tell you all in the next day or so.

milward · 20/09/2005 22:00

Good luck mummyhill xxx
Good luck Daisydot xxx - I had a cs for my dd2 as she was a footling breech - was fine. Stressful but once I held dd everything was wonderful.
Jessysmummy - waiting to have a contraction to squat! - will probably happen in the supermarket tomorrow!!

singleteenagemum · 20/09/2005 22:09

good luck daisy dot...hope all goes well and that you and babe are fine after...will definately say a prayer hun

NewChallengeforJen · 20/09/2005 22:22

Hello All.

Welcome to Dylan and good luck to Daisy Dot! I am now three days overdue. Went to see the midwife today - and got the one I don't like. She was as usual pretty unhelpful, was in and out within a couple of minutes. I tried to ask her about this weird feeling in my tummy but she just made me feel stupid, so I will ask you lot instead! Has anyone had anything that feels like your stomach is only half full of amniotic fluid, it feels like the baby is swashing around in there?... Hard to explain really!! All okay though, she told me to come back next week for an internal and a 'rummage around', which I presume means a sweep. She then went on about how awful an induction birth can be - you want to avoid that she said. Thanks for that I thought - it could be me in ten days or so...

Cabe · 20/09/2005 22:26

hello all... just like to tell you Conrad was born at 7.51 this morning.... long labour and ended up in hospital for last remaining 3hours... I've totally fallen in love with him and have just tucked him and DP in bed as I make my last calls
Good luck all of you yet to birth... special hugs to all those overdue - It's well worth the wait!

pinkminx79 · 20/09/2005 22:30

singleteenagemum · 20/09/2005 22:43

Congratualtions Cabe....glad u finally popped....let us know all the gory details

bubbles2904 · 21/09/2005 06:39

mummyhill and daisy dot, good luck for today, will be thinking of you both xxx
stm, sorry your appointment didn't go as planned, don't worry about the 9lb comment. they told a woman at work hers was tiny and she had a 9lb12, and told my friend hers would be HUGE and he only weighed 7lb2, they wanted to induce her on her due date as it was such a risk to her LOL. my other friend has been told hers is v small, but she's not due for about 2 weeks so i'll keep you posted on that one lol, probably be a two ton tessie.
don't know who it was that said they were getting waxed but i think your v brave, i got dp to shave me as i couldn't even see my area never mind reach it.
Well, i definetly jinxed myself as mia only slept for 5 hours last night and has woken for the second time, she was definetly spoiling me for the first few weeks of her life.
my mw coming today to hopefully discharge me, as apparently she could still feel my uterus last week, i actually got to see this mw 3 times during the end of my pg, after all the changing they did, and have actually grown to be quite friendly with her, she's even taking us to parentcraft with her today so she can show all the new mums to be how to bath a baby.

Daisydot · 21/09/2005 07:17

NewChallengeForJen - yes I have felt that similar sensation too. It feels almost like the baby is squirming inside. I spoke to my consultant about this and he said the baby is now running out of room but still trying to get comfortable. Could this be the case with you I wonder?
Thanks for all your good wishes - I had a sleepless night last night and woke up in tears this morning. We will be in hosptial at 8.30am and I guess we will be mucked around for most of the day waiting around to see this consultant.
DH still fast asleep but I've been downstairs drinking tea since 5am. Hoping the cafiene will turn the baby around, but think not!

mummyhill · 21/09/2005 07:32

Morning all. Loks like I should of been here on the PC instead of lying awake most of the night worrying about what today will bring. I am feeling sooo nervous as I managed it all by myself last time so induction is an completley unknown quantity. Thanks for all the supprot and advice I have been given.

DAISYDOT - Will say a prayer for you before I go in today, hope everything turns out ok and the consultant doesn't mes you about too much. Try to think positivley (I know easier sadi than done). They will do everything they can to ensure that you and bubs are safe.

CABE - Congratulations and welcome to Conrad.

Wow everyone seems to have such good taste in names.

Well I have to phnoe the hospital in half an hour to make sure that they have a bed for me so I will post and let you know what I am up to.

Good luck to everyone still waiting.

bubbles2904 · 21/09/2005 07:51

mummyhill and daisydot, i really am thinking of you both, you're my cyber family lol, can't pretend that i know what any of you are going through or feeling as i've never experienced this but you are both definetly going to be in my thoughts for the remainder of the day. you'll both be fine, and tomorrow we will all be congratulating you both on your beautiful new bundles. try to relax(i know it's easier said than done) and look forward to your babies.
