Hi All

This is the new thread taking over from "Feb 2011... Where only us and a select few know"

So sad that not everyone will be joining us on the new thread but here's looking to the future and hoping we start to see some lovely scans and good news from everyone in the next month

OP posts:

Professor when you get chance please could you paste the stats? Sorry I'm not very good with those.

PS: Sorry if I sound like a bossy school teacher

Thanks for setting up new thread lulabel.

I still feel really sad for knitter today. It feels like all of us really appreciated her on the thread, and we'll all really miss her. I hope she's doing OK.

Hope everyone is well today - nearly the week end.

sweetnitanitro · 23/07/2010 14:07

Ooh, a shiny new thread! Yes, I am very sad that knitter is not still with us, I hope she is OK. It's been very sad to lose a few people and I wish them all well.

How is everyone feeling? I'm still feeling a bit sick at times but haven't thrown up much- what a change from my first pregnancy! I was dreading this one but it's actually OK.

TMI alert- My nips are getting a bit sore and I think my milk supply is dipping a bit but I'm determined to carry on feeding DD (she's pretty determined too!). I bought a really good book about BF in pregnancy so that's helping me a lot.

Hope everyone is feeling OK and not too tired and sicky.

americanexpat · 23/07/2010 15:31

I am feeling almost completely normal again except for the exhaustion and near constant ravenous hunger. I feel a bit sick and light-headed if I let myself get too hungry. OH commented I don't seem to be eating much but he isn't aware of what I put away at work. Not exactly healthy choices either.

janedoe25 · 23/07/2010 15:31

That is such awful news Knitter, im so sorry. I do hope you are well and look forward to seeing you on another thread soon. Lulabel i have pasted in the stats apologies if i missed anyone!

My dog has eaten a £20 note this morning I cried for hours as it was what I planned to use to take ds to the cinema. Dh galantly stepped in true Shrek style and purchased our tickets online. I am so bloody mad at our stupid dog at the moment though! She has left half of it which my dad reckons I could take to the bank and they will exchange it - what do you think?

canoe · 23/07/2010 15:38

Ooh, a shiney new thread!

REally sorry to hear about the people leaving, hope everything goes well for them all in the next few weeks/months

Sorry I've not been on here much, just spent ages catching up with everyones news!

I had my scan last wednesday at 10 weeks, just to recap i'm in Botswana so the systems here are a bit different. You don't see a midwife here, instead it's an obstretrician (sp) straight away. The scan went well, it was an internal scan which was a bit weird, but the picture was amazing! we could see the head, arms and legs - which were wiggling away! And heard the heartbeat, which i wasn't expecting. It definitely feels more real now!

It confirmed the due date as what we'd worked out so no change there.

We've got another appointment on 4th August which is for the Nuchal fold scan. It's a different decision here to what it would be at home. I'm only 27 so definitely have age on my side, but as the health care isn't that great the implications of having a down's baby here are quite big. We've already agreed that we wouldn't terminate if it's down's but they don't advice you to deliver here if there's a high risk of down's due to lack of neo natal care, and possible complications during or after birth. So that throws up a whole heap more questions and decisions!

We've started telling people which has been really nice, our families are all very excited, although my sister gets the prize for best response - she burst into tears on skype and had to turn her video off as she was blowing her nose so much!

Anyway sorry this has been a very me post. Hope everyone else is coping with the morning sickness, and the decisions which need making!

star bucks i have just had a telling off form my friend about being on this thread making me more anxious. Sge used the example of when you go on holiday dont read about plane crashes fro hours first. I have had a horrible week. Feel convinced my baby has died cos of lack of symptoms and cannot seem to get any sense from mw apparently need to bleed first. Out of desparation and a terrible night of worry and nightmares i rang my gp this am who was great. Went down and she tried the dopler but couldnt hear hb as it is still bit early but a hb of 130 showed up on the digi display so prob ok. She also talked the epu into scanning me tomorrow at 10am saying that it was my 5th baby and i am not normally a fusser. Then had a call from ante natal to tell me i have anti bodies (had with dd)which could be a prob if not monitered so another worry.Friend then reminded me that blood was taken on Monday and i was worried by then and would have shown on test if i had mc. Still not enough for me tho.Wont settle till i have scan tomorrow. Also nice to hear other peoples symptoms settling down maybe i am normal after all.

Deliaskis · 23/07/2010 15:40

Hi Ladies,

Nice to see the new thread, but like angels1 am feeling sad for knitter today that she won't be joining us.

I had my blood taken for NS yesterday, NS on Wed, 12 week scan on Tues. Still really nervous about it but keeping everything crossed that all will be well.

Food cravings are driving me (and DH) up the wall. Not craving weird things but just going 'off-piste' with what we had been planning to eat. E.g. DH came home having been out at lunchtime to buy the salmon I had asked him to get for tea, to find me using all my powers of persuasion to try and convince him that cheese and ham toasties were what we really wanted. He is being very good though bless him and mostly just laughing.

Am expanding around the middle and am using the hair bobble trick on a lot of my trousers now. Will be relieved after Tues when I can finally 'come out'.

Lots of +ve wishes for everybody going to scans etc. soon, hope everyone is happy and healthy.

D

tadjennyp · 23/07/2010 18:05

Hello, thank you for starting the new thread. Sad that Knitter isn't with us too. Also v worried that something has happened to the baby though I couldn't tell you why. I think I'm a bit nervous about how I will cope with three little ones, financially and emotionally and practically, as we live 6000 miles away from our families. I'm probably transferring that stress onto the pregnancy. Plus my MIL is coming out to visit soon and I tend not to meet her standards!

Hope everyone is having a good day and is looking forward to the weekend.

xstaceyxcatx · 23/07/2010 18:10

So glad a nice new thread has been posted :D got my scan yesterday and baby thinks its tarzan swinging from its cord..was also waving away.

Found I shall be having a section either 7th, 8th or 9th of Feb depending what dates available when they book me in.

Really sad about the people who arent with us anymore x

linz17xxx · 23/07/2010 18:10

Hello everyone hope you are all well. I'm so sorry knitter, it wont be the same without you. I have my scan on 4th aug which seems ages away however my sickness is much better x

xstaceyxcatx · 23/07/2010 18:12

ps for stats im 22 and from glasgow x

ledkr · 23/07/2010 18:33

Tad Jenny me too read my last post. I am having a scan tomorrow so will let you know. If i am ok with my feelings opf doom then hopefully may reassure you a bit. I cannot put my finger on it either, just worried. Think its cos am feeling really good and symptoms have died down so much.

ledkr i had my scan yesterday and also was feeling so nervous due to my symptoms pretty much disappearing. But all went amazingly well apart from baby moving so much it couldnt get measured properly. Hope you enjoy tommorow as much as i did.

thanks xstacey thats good to know its been a horrible week one min im ok the next im poohing myself with fear.Dont know where the idea came from cos my symptoms have never been that bad just bit of nausea and fatigue which is MEANT to stop now anyway.Reached low point last night tho had the mosty terrible nightmares and woke up sweating. Thought enough is enough and rang gp. Hard to get anyone to take you seriously unless bleeding but she was great. Hope to be back tomorrow with good news.

Its horrible when your scared, unfortunatley all my news wasnt so great due to me being some what of a high risk and now needing another 5 scans and a section at 39 weeks but thats all due to previous complications with Ds.

Honestly juast enjoy it and id suggest finishing drinking your water about an hour before you have your scan, my bladder didnt get full up til i was in with the midwife after my scan which meant being uncomfortable for an hour and a half lol.

ledkr · 23/07/2010 19:13

i know what you mean.Got a call this mornning to say i got rhesus anti bodies which had with dd should be ok but another worry and lots of blood tests. Got nucal scan on wed in london so bit more stress to add.I will have a c section at 39 wks. Benefits are dh can take pat leave from that day gives longer afterwards and can make arrangments ect. have had c sections before but never planned always emergency so will be strange. Am hoping to time it so annoying in laws can visit me in hosp rather than having to put up with them staying when i am feeling a bit shit(they live a long way away)in my fantasy they can stay for the few days im in and then clear off to give us some peace when i get home. God i sound vile dont i haha

Good luck to everyone else who has 12 week scans and screening tests coming up. We are on holiday next week and have agreed with midwife they will not phone us til we get back, if the results come back as high risk. Nuchal measurement was 1.1mm which is encouraging.

Looking forward to going away, but exhausted at thought of all the packing plus taxi to airport at 4.30am on Sunday!

thanks whoever updated my stats on the list btw...sorry to hear about Knitter, very sad news. Thinking of her.

xstaceyxcatx · 23/07/2010 19:30

you dont sound vile at all if i had annoying in laws i would probably do the same. Unfortunately (well maybe fortunately) its just me Ds and soon to be baby.

Also glad of section as my sister is my birthing partner and she will be able to book time off work and i can plan child care for ds for afterschool etc whilst im in hospital.

Iv got to go for scan in 2 weeks to measure baby preoperly, then 20 week fetal anomaly scan, and 3 growth scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks, plus side is lots of pictures of baby as he/she develops.

ledkr · 23/07/2010 19:36

why is that?dont tell me if you dont want to. C section is ok. Oh dear bless you. I was lone parent for ages with 4 dcs bloody hard work but loved it tbh. Was very lucky that the ds were older and helped loads with dd then 1.Been with new dh 3.5 yrs and this pg was a suprise. Will be hard for you with a baby too but i must adnit i felt it easier as there was no lazy b** sat in the chair or sleeping whilst i coped. Have a great relationship with my kids and wouldnt have missed the time with "just us" we even went off on holidays together i am still full of pride at my coping abilities as should you be.

xstaceyxcatx · 23/07/2010 19:47

Ehm well me and ds's dad spilt when i found was pregnant so iv been pretty much lone parent except for 2 years i was with someone i though i could love, trust etc (got that wrong complete bugger of a boy) and now sorta in same situation with this baby dad to be isnt happy and would rather i wasnt having baby and has buggered off on a boys holiday for 2 weeks.

Im so proud of Ds as he is my greatest achievement and know i'll cope fine just wish I wasn't so disillusioned about relationships at an age where im still so young i guess.

So glad you got your happy ending though and its nice to hear that youve got so much pride in your kids as you should have its a hard job being a mum.
