Fox for a boy. Is this just too off-the-wall?

it was the mans name in x files wasn't it?

Fnergle · 03/09/2009 22:15

Yes, dear.

akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:15

Yes it was. Hadn't thought of that.

As in Mulder?

akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:17

Want something a bit quirky for a boy though. Nothing boring like James, Tom, Sam etc.... I want something different but not so different he will get bullied. Something cool.

There is a boy in Billy Elliot with this name at the moment. He claims his parents were big X files fans.

I am not one for outlandish names but I actually like this name.

akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:20

we are not x file fans at all - just want something a bit different.

akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:21

I don;t like it, sorry.

FritesMenthe · 03/09/2009 22:23

Sorry, Wolfie Smith aka Foxy.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 03/09/2009 22:25

Yes, Fox is too off the wall. He won't thank you for it.

Rachmumoftwo · 03/09/2009 22:30

No probs in primary but when he gets to big school he will be teased

(from someone who loves the name)

mrsruffallo · 03/09/2009 22:31

I like Fox and Wolf for boys.
I say go for it, people are very conservative regarding names on here

akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:32

But really, what is the worst a kid could say about it? I mean, most kids get teased at some point. My name is Ellie - which is relatively normal, but I was Smelly, Belly, Jelly, anything that rhymed. I coped.

OP posts:
mrsruffallo · 03/09/2009 22:34

I don't think he will necessarily be teased. There are lots of children these days who are not named Emily or Jack.
Go for it

akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:35

Thanks Mrs Ruffallo, I agree with you. There are a lot very boring names out there and I haven't come across anything I like more than Fox (maybe I should spell it Foxx?).

I do live in a part of London where crazy names abound so I don't think Fox will be the craziest one in his school.
I'm going to go for it I think ...

unless anyone has any good alternatives?

felix

Heated · 03/09/2009 22:37

Could you and he live with Foxy as a nn?

akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:37

I had a cat called felix so that one is out. Like it though
