Fox for a boy. Is this just too off-the-wall?

Hmm, I'm not keen on the sexy connotations tbh...

Gus
Finnian
Hal
Knox
Keir
Dashiell
Flynn

zookeeper · 03/09/2009 22:43

I like celtic names that you might think are boring - wish I'd called mine Finbar.

Ponders · 03/09/2009 22:44

You want Todd!
(old fashioned English name for a fox )

TheCrackFox · 03/09/2009 22:46

Fox is a fabulous name.

Bibithree · 03/09/2009 22:46

I love it. Fox. Awesome name.

bogwobbit · 03/09/2009 22:47

No, no and nooooooooooo. What about John?

akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:47

Like Redd but already have a Ruby and people will think I have a theme. Knox is cool but I'm not a Bradgelina fan.
Tate, Donovan and Woody are yuck. So are Dashiell, Keir, Hal and Gus. I dont feel strongly either way about Flynn or Finnian so that rules them out automatically.
Is Tiger a boys name?

cece · 03/09/2009 22:48

I like John too

akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:48

JOHN????? Are you serious? That is about the most dull and boring name out there.

Rindercella · 03/09/2009 22:48

PMSL at the Wolfie Smith confusion earlier in the thread

Really, really dislike Fox. Imagine calling him in from your garden when he's 3 years old..."Fox....Fox...Oh Foxy...FOX WILL YOU COME IN NOW PLEASE"

You'll have a whole fecking skulk of the blighters at your door!

Heated · 03/09/2009 22:51

Definitely Murray

akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:51

Actually I can really imagine a three-year-old Fox. And also a teenage Fox (v.cool) and even an adult Fox with a great job. Fox Butterfield for example.... award-winning journalist for the New York Times. And my Fox will have two journalists for parents so he may go on to do the same. Would work well I think.
Alternatively he can always go on the hunt for aliens I suppose.

Rindercella · 03/09/2009 22:51

Well, Tiger Woods was actually christened Eldrick Tont Woods, so you could always call your DS Eldrick Better than Fox. For fox sake, anything is better than Fox. Unless of course it forms part of your MN nickname TheCrackFox.

akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:52

Heated - very funny. Ruby and a Murray. Good one!

OP posts:
akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:53

Rindercella - I can't find anything better than Fox. What are your suggestions? Bet you are a mum to a John, a Richard or a Barry aren't you? pmsl

LevitatingCopy · 03/09/2009 22:55

Can't imagine hollering it in the park myself, and it does have quite a high ponce factor - but hey, it's you that has to holler it. If you like it then go for it.

cece · 03/09/2009 22:56

That's my son's name and we have never met another one (child that is!)

Rindercella · 03/09/2009 22:56

Hahaha. No, I'm not actually, My DD has (imo of course) a beautiful name

Imo (of course), it is a pretentious name, and once which your DS will not thank you for...not when he's 3, not when he's 15 and certainly not when he's 30, journalist or not

akamummy · 03/09/2009 22:58

cece - oh dear. Sorry. I suppose you have to have a thick skin on here.

But John is a bloody awful name. It conjours up images of balding, middle-aged grey-faced men.
