An old friend in the US has named her baby daughter McCaa. The only reason I know it's a girl is because her middle name is Laura!

i went to school with a jenica. her parents couldn't decide between jenny and jessica.

MANATEEequineOHARA · 27/03/2009 20:08

I have a book by someone called Candida Crewe...it is kind of an autobiography...she talks of her embarrasment about her name...and then gets an eating disorder...

If you want daft names watch America's Next Top Bimbo/Model. One entry was called Spontaneous. Pronounced Spon-Tain-Ee-Owse.

Maury is another daft show with daft names - ny DH and I reckon you could go round the house turning everyday items into names and they'd appear on the show at some point. Table = Tablitia. Curtain = Cur-Tayne (boys name obviously) Sofa = So-Fah and so on.

No he's a Welsh C-J FAQ.

Where we used to live in Hull a neighbour Julie had a baby, when I asked her name she said "Ellen" "oh I like Ellen I said, "no" replied Julie it's Elen with a Haitch but we don't say Haitch in 'ull"

tattifer · 27/03/2009 20:15

Why is it Helen is spelt with an aitch and H is not?

Lilolily · 27/03/2009 20:18

I was at parents evening once and a little girl was called up, her name appeared to be Dimway which I thought was unusual.

My DD2 has a more unusual name than her sister and I always get the same response, "thats nice, thats.... unusual" but they like them so thats all that matters.

They also go to school with an Innocence.

notsoteenagemum · 27/03/2009 20:24

What do you mean tattifer are you talking about H from Steps?

MANATEEequineOHARA · 27/03/2009 20:26

The word 'aitch' (is it even a word for a letter!?) ...I think...but I suppose that has an 'h' on the end!?

tattifer · 27/03/2009 20:26

actually too old/boring/into Kate Rusby to know any of the names of Steps members, but if the cap fits...

...Capishia...

tattifer · 27/03/2009 20:28

I was just referring fleetingly to the ironies of the pronunciation given the letter concerned aitch, spelt defiantly without an H in the front, so not Haitch... sigh and shakes head...no wonder I don't know anything about Steps...

MANATEEequineOHARA · 27/03/2009 20:32

Ugh, I hate it soooo much when people pronounce it haitch. YUK. That goes hand in hand with people who call a loo a toilet

notsoteenagemum · 27/03/2009 20:33

AHH! I see what you mean.
In my beautiful birthplace of Hull however Aitch is often said Haitch which is why I added it.

Am slightly now at my Steps reference.

MANATEEequineOHARA · 27/03/2009 20:36

Notso...I thought of Steps too, not because I like them in the SLIGHTEST way, but because I have always thought of them as idiots all the more by having someone in a band called 'H'.

Sidge · 27/03/2009 20:37

I know of a Tiger-Lily, Cartier, Dray, and Power.

I went to sixth form college with a guy called Kestrel - I believe his siblings were called Falcon and Peregrine.

tattifer · 27/03/2009 20:37

notso Nooo, it's me, I'm boring, ignore me, sorry....

notsoteenagemum · 27/03/2009 20:39

MANATEE please note my previous post, I don't want to be labelled forevermore as a mis-pronouncer of Aitch and lover of Steps.

runs off to use the loo in shame

notsoteenagemum · 27/03/2009 20:41

sorry x posts!

Can you beleive his real name is Ian!!

tattifer · 27/03/2009 20:42

Ian? I can see why he changed it to something glamorous and exciting like, er, H

MANATEEequineOHARA · 27/03/2009 20:45

Notso...do not fear, all Steps associations are forgotten!!!

MANATEEequineOHARA · 27/03/2009 20:46

Oh and btw, the loo/toilet thing...I wasn't being serious...well, not completely!

tattifer · 27/03/2009 20:47

manatee really?

notsoteenagemum · 27/03/2009 20:50

Oh good MANATEE because I always say Latrine

I know Tattifer H oodles better than Ian

tattifer · 27/03/2009 20:51

Latrine, I always that would make a lovely name. A pretty little doe-eyed girl...

notsoteenagemum · 27/03/2009 20:53

Rofl I imagine her to be a little flushed looking!

MANATEEequineOHARA · 27/03/2009 20:53

Latrine??? Do you really!?!?!? Well that would be something else to associate you with!!!

Tattifer I have no idea what you could possibly be suggesting...
