An old friend in the US has named her baby daughter McCaa. The only reason I know it's a girl is because her middle name is Laura!

Kipchogey. Seriously. American, of course. And a boy's name, in case you were wondering.

A friend taught a wee girl called Sian, pronounced Cyan. The mum was very cross that my friend called her Sian (normal person's pn) when she first met her - at that point she'd only seen it written down - "It's not Sian it's Cyan"

FAQinglovely · 26/03/2009 22:21

thederkinsdame · 26/03/2009 22:39

Omega - overheard in the general scrum in Woolies before it closed down. Kid was about 8 - I wondered if she was named after the car or the fish oil...

FAQinglovely · 26/03/2009 22:40

derkins - she was probably named before the dad went to have the snip ie "the last one"

Mintyy · 26/03/2009 22:43

Pil's neighbour is called Ochre.

There is an Attila at our school. He is Turkish. Perhaps the name doesn't have quite the same connotations in Turkey?

I knew a girl called Lasaraiona (Lass-o-reeena). It's an Irish name.
I also know an American boy called Manny - at least that's what I thought it was. It's written Man-E (wtf??)
