18 weeks with a baby girl.
I adore the name Olive but our surname is Brown.
Olive Brown.
It’s a bit too Dulux colour chart isn’t it :(

Any other suggestions welcome! (Or change my mind and convince me Olive Brown isn’t ridiculous 😅)

Eva Brown?
I think not.

😂😂

Charlize43 · 28/09/2024 05:57

There's no reason for anyone else to know this but Harriet Brown was Greta Garbo's alias when travelling...

Eva Brown?
I think not.

God no!

sel2223 · 28/09/2024 07:05

I think Olive would make a lovely middle name

diddl · 28/09/2024 07:59

Not sure that you should bother taking notice of a thread that has Eva has a suggestion for Brown as a surname Op!

PurpleChrayn · 28/09/2024 08:08

It's a blessing that the name doesn't go with your surname as Olive is hideous! Olivia is nice.

MrsB2019x · 28/09/2024 08:10

Wow I wasn’t expecting this to blow up as much as it has 😅

I’m 33 and aware of On The Buses as I know my mum (66) used to watch it, but I have no idea about any of the characters etc.

There have been some lovely suggestions on here, I really love Freya and Alice but they’re already names in the family ☹️ so anything like those is always welcome! I’m not one for fancy/flairey names like Persephone etc.

Eva is a definite no. 😅😅

Surname won’t be changing, I’ve been a Brown for 5 years and we also have a 3 year old DD with that surname

XmasEveshopper · 28/09/2024 08:15

Bit of a tangent but if your surname’s Brown check out the Cressida Cowell books when she’s older. My DD loved ‘That rabbit belongs to Emily Brown’

OrlandointheWilderness · 28/09/2024 08:22

Olive brown sounds like a character in a novel, I love it.

brightpompoms · 28/09/2024 08:32

Lovely name. Just do it

Give her your surname instead?

We're married but DD has both our surnames - purely as we have different nationalities.

Olivia is every second child's name in schools right now. Why would you give your child such a common name.

Martha is lovely 🥰

BeautyPageantDropout · 28/09/2024 10:27

Martha Brown sounds like a scullery maid with a greasy apron and a sour face.

WestwardHo1 · 28/09/2024 11:34

The person who suggested Eva has had a quick Google I think Grin

The comment has gone anyway.

Well at the very least OP you'll know that Olive Brown prompted some heated discussion on MN. I can imagine in years to come: "My name is Olive, Olive Brown" and people saying, "Good lord, THE Olive Brown?"

Smiggl · 28/09/2024 11:38

Gloriana1 · 28/09/2024 03:18

I sort of agree.

Bit also don't give a shite.

Meh!

About your DCs safety? Why?

Ellerby83 · 28/09/2024 11:40

Some of the names suggested are nice but the nicknames aren't

Florence Flo/flow Brown
Lucy Luce/Loose Brown
Isabelle Izzy Brown

@WestwardHo1
strangely enough I've heard that same phrase said about Lester Bird and Rob Braddick

Sunbeamed · 28/09/2024 17:53

I think it sounds weird. Olives aren’t brown usually so it just sounds a bit ‘wrong’ and yucky
