What is it about the name Kaiden/Kayden that people don’t like?

I’ve seen comments like, ‘well at least it’s not Kaiden/Kayden’ or ‘I can’t stand those Kaiden/Kayden/Jaiden names.’ I even saw someone say, ‘all the Kaiden/Jaiden and Mary-Louise act like X in my area.’

I’m just curious really!

It's considered a chav name

NuffSaidSam · 10/05/2024 19:02

I think it's a name popular with a certain demographic, a bit like XL bullies. Some people don't want a name associated with that specific demographic.

I like the sound of it, but neither of those spellings. I think I'd go for Caden if I was going to use it.

I work in child, rens safeguarding arena and the name crops up again and again

Amx · 10/05/2024 19:15

K names are all hated on here

I find that so interesting. All the Kaiden/Jaiden’s I know are black and I’ve never heard a black person referred to as a chav. I’ve never met a white person with that name but I guess it all depends on where you live

I really want to come across the demographic that you speak of as the comments would probably make a bit more sense to me!

I know a Caden (age 13) and he’s such a lovely kid, a huge credit to the name!

Interesting.

I work at an attraction in London and all the Kaydens and Jaydens I've met have been white.

I've never really thought about it until now.

Bournetilly · 10/05/2024 19:29

I’ve met a few and they have all been white. It is a chav name.

IsThePopeCatholic · 10/05/2024 19:32

It’s a made-up name. Fine, if you like that sort of thing.

floppybit · 10/05/2024 19:33

I know the following - Kayden, Jayden, Aidan, Haydan and Braiden - they are all white.

I’ve never known a kaiden to be black

Bbq1 · 10/05/2024 19:37

Similar to Kai. Knew someone who kept the name secret as it was "unusual and i don't want anyone to steal it" . Had to feign suprise and delight when the really common Kai was unveiled.

takemeawayagain · 10/05/2024 19:38

I knew a Jayden (white child) he was lovely. The family though was pretty questionable. I agree that Kayden and Jayden are considered chav names.

Ereyraa · 10/05/2024 19:39

Kayden Jayden Brayden - all chav names

I do a bit of supply teaching. A sweeping generalisation, but every single Kayden/Caiden/Kaiden/Caden I've encountered has been problematic.

I'm sure that there are some lovely lad's of that name out there, but it seems to be the current teen generation's equivalent of Wayne.

Years back, a behavioural specialist suggested that all the Waynes were the result of fathers who wanted to prove how manly their sons were.

I've no idea where all the Kaydens come from .

I may be wrong but Aidan is an Irish name, hardly in the same bracket as Jayden Brayden Caden. Brayden may be a derivative of Brendan which is also Irish

Maroonedjam · 10/05/2024 19:44

Snobbery. Mostly from white MC people.

Why? were they <shudder> WC kids?

This is interesting!

I’m in SW London and I’ve never come across a white Kaiden/Jaiden. My son is called Kaiden and we’re black. My friends boyfriend is Kayden and he’s black. My cousin is Jaiden and he’s black. I can keep going on😂

I never understood the hate for the name but hearing that it’s considered to be a ‘chav name’ is really intriguing

What does that even mean? A made up name? A name is a name surely

MN is a horrible place especially the baby names forums. So many snobby, desperately trying hard to prove they have taste 🙄 when taste is subjective.

I hate the term ‘chav’ it’s so vile and shows how ill educated MN is when they throw terms around like this:

MN are DESPERATE to portray themselves as well educated, all knowledgeable and knowing and the height of taste but then you look at the names they love and they’re hideous 😅

I never understand how a baby name can provoke so much judgement.

All the names I love as torn apart on MN and apparently I’m down market and a chav.

BetsyBobbin · 10/05/2024 19:58

No, real names have roots in different languages. Made up names don't have roots and are, well, made up. You can't put Joseph, Paul or even Mohamed in the same bracket as "Jayden"

AtreidesAtreidesAtreides · 10/05/2024 20:01

I know a (white) Kayden and he’s not chavvy at all.

All the Jaydens and Jays I’ve known (and there’s been quite a few) have all been Asian.

The couple of Braydens I know are rough.

Aden/Aidans are always from nice families.

So a name has to come from the Bible/Quran to be considered a real name? Okay then😂 seems like everyone in my family has made up names according to you
