I thought I'd make another, follow-on, thread as the first filled up quickly and was so interesting

So, what’s the most unusual name you have ever come across in daily life?

Thadeus/Thaddeus is the name of Judas the Zealot, one of Jesus' 12 disciples. I love it!

I wanted it for twin 2. I'm still a bit sad I didn't.

Fionnuala. I now understand that's its fairly common Irish name, but when I first saw it written down (birth announcement via text) I thought it was so unusual and didn't have a clue how pronounce it correctly.

How do you pronounce it? Irish and Cornish names are so beautiful

Grew up as the forriner so had peers like Lala, Nemesis, Sultana and loads more that aren't really unusual but just from different cultures.

An influencer's children Renaelia and Oriavella are some of the most...unique I've heard

I see we've had the Ladasha mention. Wouldn't be a name thread without it!

I know the influencer your referring too I quite like the names

My Mum knew a woman whose daughter was called Yendis - Sidney backwards 🤷🏼‍♀️ Being catholics, my DDs needed to choose a confirmation name. It has to be a saints name. Eldest DD chose Sexburga 🤦🏼‍♀️ The youngest Blaise. Apparently patron saint of sore throats.

Lisma (pronounced like Lisa but with an M in it). I called the girl Lisa a few times until she said no it was Lisma and spelt it for me. I actually thought she was winding me up so I asked her Mum and was told she liked Lisa but thought it was boring so she put an M in the middle.
I also worked with a "Sunei" (pron soo nee). She was from a white British background so I thought it was a bit odd but apparently she was named after her parents Sue and Neil 😁

@Vroomfondleswaistcoat Ah it was the name of a boy I taught a long time ago. I was told at the time it was Japanese for drum, but maybe I was misinformed. Definitely unusual at any rate.

Taiko is Japanese for drum, pronounced almost the same as Tycho!

Minty is short for Araminta, I always loved this name after Moondial, a kids series when I was about 10.

Off topic, but I was so scared of Moondial, I was about 9 watching it. Would love to re-watch it now.
