Im due ds2 at the end on april, and me and dp cant decide on a name. I like the older names like Jack, but everyones called that, and Jake, Oliver, Josh, and have a son (3yrs) called Alex. But dp isnt his dad, so had no say in his name.
Dp likes 'wierd' names like Sole (no, its a baby, not a fish dp!), and Chester (dog), and the only name we can remotely agree on is Dylan, but family members have commented that maybe its a bit 'common', and in chavish (please dont shout at me for using that word, I cant think of another that would explain what I mean).
So, is it?

Oh, also wanted Daniel, but dp po-faced that too.

Daniel is nice. Would he accept Danny or Denny as an alternative - and could you live with either of those?

I still don't think that Dylan is chavvy btw!

Flubdub · 18/03/2008 19:11

We both did agree on Finlay at one point, but it absolutely would not go with dps surname - its bullying quality.

surely your dh means "Sol" and not "Sole"??

Flubdub · 18/03/2008 19:13

Sole Im afraid. I know.

Pavlovthecat · 18/03/2008 19:13

Is it not *Saul^?

RosemaryBoxer · 18/03/2008 19:15

i think flynn is a nice name

Flubdub · 18/03/2008 19:15

Hmm, Flynn is quite nice.

we have 2 kyle's and 2 courtneys in one class. Had 2 holly's one year and a few years ago 4 Sophie's ... it didn't make much difference really!

dinny · 18/03/2008 19:22

it just can't be Sole, it must be Sol or Saul, SURELY???

yuk, Flynn is horrible (IMO)

how about Finn?

Flubdub · 18/03/2008 19:25

lol Sole is what he said. Hes a twerp.

OP posts:
dinny · 18/03/2008 19:26

I'm sure he means Sol, they sound almost the same

as in Sol Campbell

Flubdub · 18/03/2008 19:28

dinny, you crazy lady, hes saying Soul. Hes probably made it up.

WinkyWinkola · 18/03/2008 19:29

Dylan is great. Really nice name.

Or Solomon and you could shorten it to Sol or Solly. That's cute, very Jewish but I can't help it!

dinny · 18/03/2008 19:40

lol, Flub, Ok Ok, I believe you now!

he's a crazy man! SOUL!

what is your ds1 called?

theowlwhowasafraidofthedark · 18/03/2008 19:41

Dylan is a lovely name. I don't think its chav at all.

Heated · 18/03/2008 19:41

Not Dylan imo.

Like Jack. Could use John and nn Jack, Jonty, Johnny..

Youcannotbeserious · 18/03/2008 19:46

TMMB - I do!

I'm afraid I have a few names selected for my DS and, should Kerry Katona choose one of them, it'll be immediately off the list... Sorry, but it will be.

I like Harry, Freddie and Charlie...

Flubdub · 18/03/2008 19:46

ds1 is called Alexander, but we only call him Alex.

OP posts:
dinny · 18/03/2008 19:46

JONTY? Noooooooooo, please, no

dinny · 18/03/2008 19:47

how about Jacob?

Flubdub · 18/03/2008 19:48

I like Jake, dp says no.
He says its the 21st century, and all my names are old - hence Sole (prat).

OP posts:
eekamoose · 18/03/2008 19:53

Do you think for Sole he actually meant Saul? Quite like Saul actually. Don't call him Oliver, there are zillions of them already!

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 18/03/2008 19:53

How about Hugh ??

But you need to be careful about your surname. Because his friends will go through a phase of calling him Huge.

Now if your surname is Wilkinson, he could end up known as Huge Willy.

Infantile

AnybodyHomeMcFly · 18/03/2008 19:54

Dylan is nice but quite popular at the mo. But then there are lots of Jacks too . Your DH's choices are def weird - is he saying them to wind you up?
My faves at the mo are Felix, Jesse, Lewis and Milo.
