Middle name for Hero

Expecting a baby girl and we’ve decided on first name Hero. Our other children have unusual but not unheard of names with more traditional middle names but struggling to find a name that flows nicely with Hero. Our first mn pick was Emilia but gone off it a little now, any suggestions?
Our last name is rare but not ‘weird’ or able to be turned into a joke, and begins with an S.
thanks 😊

Hero isn't embarrassing or silly. It may not be to your choice which is different. It is a girls's name & yes quite Shakespearian .

I'd go Hero Frances and I think ( if she ever does ) want to use her middle name gives her a nice one.

Good luck @BoldandBright

Most people won’t understand the Shakespeare connotation, and just think of “War Hero” .

Hero Clementine

UnicorseTime · 15/02/2023 15:52

Unless you are homeschooling I'd avoid it and use it as a middle name. You still get to keep it that way but she isn't saddled with an out there name.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 15/02/2023 15:54

Please don't call your child 'Hero.' Shock

Thesaucysalad · 15/02/2023 15:55

Such a selfish thing to name a child something she WILL be sniggered at for

NellietheNumpty · 15/02/2023 15:56

Viola
Cecia
Clemency
Augusta

Chooksnroses · 15/02/2023 16:01

Hero Seraphina is beautiful.

RoseHarper · 15/02/2023 16:02

Hero Valentine is gorgeous, as is Hero Clementine.

EmilyGilmoresSass · 15/02/2023 16:04

Why not make Hero the middle name and put Billy Dontbea as the first?

Mumof1andacat · 15/02/2023 16:04

For me it's s boys name. If you really want it, give a feminine middle names so she could use that in the future. She will need her name in to adulthood and may not be comfortable with a names like hero in a professional work place.

I'm not criticising but isn't Hero masculine? Wouldn't the feminine form be Hera?

Hero is a priestess or devotee of Venus In classical mythology.

Hero??
That’s a really silly name.
Heroes earn that title, by doing heroic things.
A girl is a Heroine.
Calling her Heroine will make people think of Diacetylmorphine.

Don’t saddle the poor kid with an embarrassing name!

Maybe you should stop googling drug names (it’s heroin, not heroine anyway) and read some Shakespeare instead.

Hero is a traditional girls name which features in literature several times.

Newnamenewme23 · 15/02/2023 16:11

my vote is Hero Alexandra btw :)

The mental gymnastics here would make Simone Biles weep with envy. Bravo!

You've absolutely made my day. 😁

I love the name and it was on our list for a girl or a boy.

Hero Juniper sounds nice I think.

WinterFoxes · 15/02/2023 16:16

Hero is a classical name and also a lead character in Shakespeare. It really is fine as a name. I find it weird that people think it's so odd.

londonmummy1966 · 15/02/2023 16:17

Ignore everyone saying it isn't a girls name - it is - Hero had a lover who used to swim the Hellespont every night to meet her.

On a practical basis I think that a four syllable name would balance it out so

Hero Elizabeth
Hero Alexandra (which keeps to the Greek theme)
Hero Anastasia
Hero Victoria
Hero Aurelia (but is mixing the classical civilisations up)
Hero Cecilia
Hero Felicity
Hero Octavia
Hero Natalia

Goingcrazyimsure · 15/02/2023 16:19

Love it. Hero is definitely a girl's name - Shakespearean to me.

To me it's all about syllables!

I think you need either a two syllable name where the first syllable is stressed or a three syllable where the middle one is stressed!

My favourite girls name! A lot of ignorant people here!
Hero Lucia sounds great!

I like Hero!

Hero Elizabeth?

SnottyLottie · 15/02/2023 16:36

I think you need a very conventional, strong sounding middle name to offset the quirkiness of the first name

Hero Grace
Hero Elizabeth
Hero Jane
Hero Katherine

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 15/02/2023 16:37

I like this and other Shakespearean names. I think you need an unfrilly middle name, such as Jane.
