Middle name for Hero

Expecting a baby girl and we’ve decided on first name Hero. Our other children have unusual but not unheard of names with more traditional middle names but struggling to find a name that flows nicely with Hero. Our first mn pick was Emilia but gone off it a little now, any suggestions?
Our last name is rare but not ‘weird’ or able to be turned into a joke, and begins with an S.
thanks 😊

@BentleyRhythmAce Love that.

Whatdayisitalexa · 15/02/2023 14:04

I like it! Hero Lucia pronounced the Italian way, or I heared the name Azalea today so Hero Azalea?

TheWayTheLightFalls · 15/02/2023 14:08

Well done to all those snarky posters for making it clear that they don’t have a glancing acquaintance with either Shakespeare or Greek mythology. We all needed to know.

OP I agree with others - any longer more classical name would work well. Elizabeth? Marianne?

Theonlyoneiknow · 15/02/2023 14:10

Hero Charlotte
Hero Rose
Hero Elisabeth
Hero Louisa
Hero Clementine
Hero Grace
Hero Alexandra
Hero Eve
Hero Elspeth
Hero Cassandra

I think it's a nice name in how it sounds (I know / know of a couple of Japanese people with that name - it's great) - it's just the meaning and connotations that people won't be able to get past...

I'd agree with others that giving your daughter a more commonplace middle name might be a good move in case she wants to use that instead. I should think there's quite a few Khaleesi's out there that don't use that name any more!!!

Willdenytothedeath · 15/02/2023 14:12

Quest?

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 15/02/2023 14:13

Hero for a girl? Really? 😂 sorry but that's cruel.

Aneeda.

I prefer it with Aneeda first!

PennyRa · 15/02/2023 14:15

I personally like the sound of Hero with a second H name, like Hero Helena or Hero Haumea

WednesdaysPlaits · 15/02/2023 14:15

But Hiro is a boys name

Callingtosummer · 15/02/2023 14:16

Theres a male actor called Hero (for those who commented on it for a boy) he gets jokes from the songs from Shrek and Mariah Carey but as it’s unique he seems to be the only one in the public eye. I think people need to mind their business though, it’s your baby and your choice so no one has the right to comment with opinions when the OP hasn’t asked.
I think Hero Louise or Hero Annabella flow nicely.

countrypunk · 15/02/2023 14:17

@WednesdaysPlaits Yes, and luckily that's not what the OP is calling her daughter.

🙄

It isn't unique. There are loads of boys named Hiro in Japan.

Hero is a gorgeous, classic Greek and Shakespearean girls' name.

A mono syllabic middle name e.g. Claire, Jane, Faith, Grace, Hope, Kate, Rose would sound nice. Other ideas:

Hero Clara
Hero Emilia
Hero Florence

Congratulations!

@WednesdaysPlaits Yes, and luckily that's not what the OP is calling her daughter.

🙄

But it is, she's just tweaking the spelling.

Its like saying "My daughter isn't called Albert, she's called Albertt". It's still pronounced Albert.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 15/02/2023 14:19

Hero for a girl is rubbish.

Look up the myth about Hero and Leander. It's a Greek girl's name!

TangoBrava · 15/02/2023 14:20

I love the name. I have known two in my life; and they are both amazing, strong, successful and lovely women and have said they have not had any nasty comments about their names and are individually pleased they were called such an unusual and interesting name.

I think it's says more about those that comment tbh. A lack of manners to say the least. If there ever are kids that tease, I guess they'd have a parent like the posters above 🤷🏻‍♀️ And the answer is just the same... ignore them.

Classic names that go well as a middle name:

Viola/Violet
Sophie/Sophia
Catherine
Louisa
Eleanor

HairyToity · 15/02/2023 14:20

I love Hero. I'd have Frances as a middle name.

I appreciate the greek goddess but its still more commonly known as being a Japanese boys name

GettingItOutThere · 15/02/2023 14:22

kids get bullied at school for no reason - THIS name is ahuge reason to be picked on - poor kid

especially for a girl

countrypunk · 15/02/2023 14:23

@WednesdaysPlaits No it isn't, because she hasn't invented her own girls' name based on a classic boys' name by changing the spelling. Hero is a girls' name that dates back to Ancient Greece.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 15/02/2023 14:25

OP, it's a lovely name.

This thread makes it obvious schools need to teach more Shakespeare and the classics though. 😂

lin07 · 15/02/2023 14:25

Hero Magdalena
Hero Katharina

fairypeasant · 15/02/2023 14:25

Hero is a fabulous name.

Hero Judith
Hero Louise
Hero Bethan
Hero Emily

There are loads!

Hobbesmanc · 15/02/2023 14:26

Love the nod to Shakespeare. Ignore the misery guts.

I like the sound of Hero Verity. Or Hero Maeve.
