What would you say is the peak mumsnet baby name? What would Ms ‘tinkly laugh/no is a full sentence’ call her PFB?

I think I’m correct in saying:

girl: Elspeth (always suggested, why?!)
boy: Jago

I think it'd be Theodore and Persephone/Harlow dependent on whether or not they have a housekeeper Grin

Ottilie.

Literally never come across one in real life, or even heard someone mention it as a potential name for their baby.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 29/12/2022 19:40

It's definitely Ottilie for a girl, maybe Hugo for a boy?

Agree - something relatively safe and boring is what I would say is peak mumsnet

I’m sure there was one the other day saying they’d be naming their baby ‘lucky day’, sounds like a grand national winner

Theo (Theodore), Noah, Rueben. See them all the time no wonder so many of them. Also Arthur.
But mention a traditional name and you're slammed for it being too common.

Luckey Buoy? 😆

Fundays12 · 29/12/2022 19:51

Olivia I actually know 11 of them all under 18.

Anewhoo · 29/12/2022 19:51

Elspeth is a pretty middle of the road name if you live in Scotland! There are a lot of old ladies with this name, my great grandmother, my grandmother, and my auntie are all called that! The other half are called Adelaide!

I know 5 Ottilies, but I live in the south so it’s pretty common.

Hugo is also common, but mostly for dogs!

Theo is one of the most common boys names (top 20 uk). I know 8!!! Ranging from 6m to 7yrs. Noah is also very popular here.

I would say either something crazily misspelt is very mumsnet (both for posting and then people criticising it), or any of the top 20 names (people suggesting or criticising that’s it’s too common as it’s top 20).

Agree with a previous poster, the names that would be most agreed on are Alice, George, William, etc., but the top 20 names for each sex are likely to be the most common on here!!

PollyPeter · 29/12/2022 19:52

When I saw the thread title I immediately thought Alice.
Second thought Anna. Always described as a beautiful classic.
For boys-agree with pp on Christopher nn Kit. Also Rupert.
