Perspicacious for a boy

I know the practice of giving babies' grace names has fallen out favour, but I've always loved it. Bearing that in mind, I'd love to hear your opinions of Perspicacious for a boy. It means ''having a ready insight into and understanding of things' which are qualities I'd like my child to have. Saying that, I'd appreciate feedback.

😂

Percy

EmergencyHepNeeded · 20/08/2022 23:21

Why don't you change your own name to something like this and give your poor child a completely normal name?

PiranhaTank · 20/08/2022 23:21

Just no.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 20/08/2022 23:22

Well that's not how names work though, is it? You won't imbue your child with that quality just because you say so.

Also, it's ridiculous.

Whadda · 20/08/2022 23:22

There’s a bang of Rees-Mogg off of it.

Skelligsfeathers · 20/08/2022 23:23

Does it flow nicely though?
That's what you need to be thinking

BattenburgDonkey · 20/08/2022 23:23

Nobody would no how to say or spell it. It’s also just plain ridiculous.

CrapBag39 · 20/08/2022 23:24

Pterodactyl is nicer

PermanentlyTired03 · 20/08/2022 23:24

Is it even a name and not just a dictionary definition? Sounds like a name he'd get picked on for having, constantly have to spell out or shorten to Percy which is also awful.

nocoolnamesleft · 20/08/2022 23:24

It's a great word. It would be a fucking awful name.

HorseInTheHouse · 20/08/2022 23:25

Go for it!

Poyu · 20/08/2022 23:25

I think it's brilliant, what about the middle name?

FrancescaContini · 20/08/2022 23:25

😂

Whataretheodds · 20/08/2022 23:26

I now have "we'll drink, drink a drink to Lily the Pink the Pink the Pink" in my head.

This is my concern. We have a four syllable surname, and then there's a middle name. Is it too much?

Sunbun19 · 20/08/2022 23:27

How do you pronounce it?

Sooveritallnow · 20/08/2022 23:28

I think it's a lovely name OP and will suit any young man as they get older. What the surname though as you need to ensure they flow 😀

EmergencyHepNeeded · 20/08/2022 23:28

What are you planning for the middle name?

Grace names are most definitely a thing. Would you sneer at Patience, or Hope?

''having a ready insight into and understanding of things' which are qualities I'd like my child to have.

Well...it'd be nice if your child had these qualities as frankly you don't, OP, on the matter of what constitutes a usable (let alone nice) name for a child.

(Of course, there is a character Perspicacia Tick in a Terry Pratchett book... but that's a witch in a fantasy novel, not the real worldGrin)

Thanks for that
So do I now!

AdaColeman · 20/08/2022 23:29

Not as nice as Supercalifragalisticexpialidocious!

Yes, it is too much.

I think your son will wish his parents had had an insight and understanding into life at secondary school when they named him. 😬
