Husband and I have finally made our final choices. But still, we are stuck, so please send tell me which ones do you prefer, be as honest as you want ( Not easily offended). We don't know the sex , and I am due at the end of this month.

His choice
A girl: Harper-Rose
A boy : Levi

My choices
G: Victoria
B: Owen

Which do you prefer ?

Yours definitely.
His are both awful.
Owen is okay but I see it as more or a surname.
Victoria is lovely.

MsMcGonagall · 18/07/2022 08:23

I was gong to suggest you start again together until you said these were the 4 compromise names.

In which case yours, or Rose or Harper on its own. (prefer Rose of those 2)

CheshireCats · 18/07/2022 08:23

Victoria for a girl. I don't like either of the boy's names.

user1492757084 · 18/07/2022 08:25

Victoria is lovely.
Owen is fine. Also consider Evan, Leon and Ewan.

Harper-Rose does not suit a grown woman and Levi is okay as a biblical name.

AliBaliBears · 18/07/2022 08:26

I love Owen, really dislike Levi.

Harper and Victoria are both ok, but very different to each other.

Harper-Rose is awful but I love Rose as a first name.

So Owen and Rose is my choice!

AmandaMirandaPanda · 18/07/2022 08:29

I quite like Victoria. Doesn't have to be shortened to Vicky - Vix, Vic, Tori, Vita, Vika all work. I don't like Harper-Rose, but if using it I'd drop the hyphen. I normally don't mind surname-type first names, but Harper specifically has negative connotations (to harp on something = to complain or nag extensively about it).

Levi and Owen are both OK. Lots of Hebrew names are used for both boys and girls but as far as I know Levi is traditionally male, so I'd save it for a boy. I slightly prefer Levi to Owen, although I really like Ewen/Ewan.

Ladyoftheprom · 18/07/2022 08:33

Get a dog and call it Levi

TheDuchessOfMN · 18/07/2022 08:34

Yours are much nicer.
Owen is okay, quite dated.
Victoria is beautiful, and in a whole other league to the others (and yes, I’m aware that Victoria Beckham has a daughter called Harper)

Levi is particularly dreadful.

Sorry to be so harsh

Palamon · 18/07/2022 08:35

Harper-Rose is just atrocious. And Levi? Cringe.

Your husband should be excluded from this exercise.

KirstenBlest · 18/07/2022 08:38

Yours
Harper is a surname. Hyphen Rose is naff and overused. Rose as a middle name is overused. Levi makes me think of Bellfield.

Victoria is classic, Owen is ok.

YouSoundLovely · 18/07/2022 08:43

Victoria is beautiful and quite unusual these days. Owen's OK. Levi (for a boy! Not for a girl!) was nice once, but has unfortunately been spoiled by overuse. Harper-Rose is dreadful and frankly will be a burden for her.

romdowa · 18/07/2022 08:44

Your names are far better. Get your dp a cat and let him call it levi 🤣

HailAdrian · 18/07/2022 08:46

His names are dreadful. I don't want to use the word 'chavvy' but...

willithappen · 18/07/2022 08:48

🤦🏼‍♀️ when people say names are horrible
Plenty people be reading this with children with same names so I find these comments especially rude

You can give opinions on which are better without having to ridicule others

User310 · 18/07/2022 08:49

Only like Victoria out of all four names

SunshineAndFizz · 18/07/2022 09:03

Urgh to hyphen names.

Rose and Owen are my favourites. Also like Victoria (but none of the nn for it).

Depakote · 18/07/2022 09:14

He only suggested hyphenated names , apart from all the Levi-Rose , Levi-something , the other ones were truly horrible. Such as Kayla-Rose , Holly-May , Daryl-Ann, James(his name)-Rose.

I absolutely hate it. I have 9 more days. I might just name him/her.

So no Clement, as I see, I like that it means "merciful". I like the meaning of Victoria too and can really picture myself with a little Victoria.

Other boys names I like are Jack , Mason, Donovan and Tristan

Yours but even yours are not my taste in particular Owen.

mam0918 · 18/07/2022 09:20

Neither are my taste but the only one I actively dislike is Harper-Rose.

Double barreling is so unnesacery (every kid I know with a double barrelled name dropped the second part once they where old enough to understand and express choice).

Runningdownthehill22 · 18/07/2022 09:22

I’m surprised so many people don’t like Owen. It’s just a normal name to me.

Please do not call a girl Daryl or James even if he tacks on Rose at the end lol.

Kayla Rose is nice (the hyphan is just unnesacery)

Holly Mae is not my taste but perfectly fine too

Levi on a girl is so dated to the early 90s when that was a wierd little trend

something can be normal AND unpopular.

Gretchen, Morag, Brogan, Helga, Bertha, Gaye etc... are all 'normal' but not at all 'popular'

Topseyt123 · 18/07/2022 09:25

Yours. His sound like a cleaning product and a pair of jeans.

ilovemyboys3 · 18/07/2022 09:29

I prefer your husbands choices. Hate Victoria, so old fashioned! I wouldn't double barrel Harper-Rose. I would go with Harper and Rose as a middle name. I like Levi and hate Owen

mam0918 · 18/07/2022 09:30

Depakote · 18/07/2022 07:57

My top name was : Margot and Clement, unfortunately my husband vetoed both or them. Those 4 names are the only names we could agreed on

Clement is by far the worst by a long shot... like saying cement with a loogie in your throat.
