Husband and I have finally made our final choices. But still, we are stuck, so please send tell me which ones do you prefer, be as honest as you want ( Not easily offended). We don't know the sex , and I am due at the end of this month.

His choice
A girl: Harper-Rose
A boy : Levi

My choices
G: Victoria
B: Owen

Which do you prefer ?

Victoria, none of the rest.

Rose and May are just filler middle names, especially hyphenated. Over used. Every other girl is Lily-May, Evie-Mae, Isla-Rose, Lexi-Mai, Ella-Rose. It’s boring and unoriginal.

NiqueNique · 18/07/2022 13:27

Don’t like Harper Rose at all. For one thing the names will run together when spoken. But Levi is much nicer than Owen. So you each get one!

Girl: Victoria (although, full disclosure, I’m not all that keen on the name...)
Boy: Levi

FindingMeno · 18/07/2022 13:28

Not keen on either girl name, but definitely like Levi for a boy.

WaltzingWaters · 18/07/2022 13:30

Levi for a boy. And Rose for a girl. Can’t stand hyphenated names.

Nipplestoyou · 18/07/2022 13:32

His sound chavvy (sorry to use that word).
That said! I'm not a fan of Victoria - I much prefer Rose, but not Harper-Rose.

Lalalaleeloo · 18/07/2022 13:34

Am I missing some cultural reference? How is Levi chavvy and cringe? Are the jeans that bad?

Thunderorlightening · 18/07/2022 13:38

Love Owen. Hate Levi.
Not keen on the hyphenated names.
Harper is nice enough.
I like Victoria but not Vicky

JustAnotherViper · 18/07/2022 13:47

Victoria and Levi

Crunchymum · 18/07/2022 14:37

Clement?

Do you mean Clemency? (Or Clementine?)

willithappen · 18/07/2022 14:37

SafeHeaven · 18/07/2022 11:59

Levi are jeans, and its a chavvy name and has an association with a serial killer.

There are so many nice names out there, i think you need to widen your search.

Literally never heard Levi be associated with a serial killer

OP unfortunately it's about what both of you like. You can ask on Mumsnet but there will ALWAYS be people saying a certain name is either chavvy, posh, 'not on trend' etc. Wont please everyone and I found telling more people a name actually ends up in putting you off because there is always someone with a negative opinion of it

pimlicoanna · 18/07/2022 14:38

Not the hyphenated one.

GeriSignfeld · 18/07/2022 14:43

Victoria & Owen definitely

Harper-Rose & Levi sound tacky / American (IMO)

Rose by itself however sounds nice, just dislike Harper as the first name & when Rose is added to another name

TabithaTittlemouse · 18/07/2022 14:50

You definitely have much better taste although I’m not keen on any! Yours are a tiny bit better!

What about taking away the Harper and just having Rose?
And mix the two boys and have Lowen?

Theoldwoman · 18/07/2022 14:56

Victoria and Owen.

His choices are awful.

Depakote · 18/07/2022 16:40

If you don't mind me asking, why do you dislike Owen?

OP posts:
TheDuchessOfMN · 18/07/2022 17:06

I don’t dislike it, it’s just ok. It’s just like any other surname name, IMO.

I prefer the Eoin spelling. Although in my accent, there’s a dreadful sort of OWN pronunciation. Oh-en is much nicer

Namechange192727171 · 18/07/2022 17:15

Could you both start again with names OP?

dizzydizzydizzy · 18/07/2022 17:18

Your choices because I like traditional names. Your husband's choices are too out there for me. But it doesn't actually matter what I think. I am a random person on the Internet.

Depakote · 18/07/2022 17:33

Crunchymum · 18/07/2022 14:37

Clement?

Do you mean Clemency? (Or Clementine?)

No. I am Clement as in Clément. It is a French name ( I am from a French speaking country) and it means merciful.

The feminine version is Clémence and Clementine means little Clémence. What turns me off about Clémentine is that it is also a fruit

The issue is, when I take him (if it's a boy) back to Belgium, people wouldn't know how to pronounce it. I'd even myself pronounce is E Oh E N

Rose is lovely. Harper is not. I'm not keen on anything hyphenated.

Owen is fine, Levi is fine.

Don't like Victoria at all.

KirstenBlest · 18/07/2022 17:40

Owen is a surname and a boy's name @TheDuchessOfMN , like James, Allen, George, Francis, Duncan, Graham and so on.

Depakote · 18/07/2022 17:45

The more I read/think about , the more I like Rose. So we might compromise on that.

OP posts:
LikeADogWithABone · 18/07/2022 17:49

I really don't like Harper-rose. All the other are nice

TheDuchessOfMN · 18/07/2022 17:58

Rose is beautiful. Or Rosa.

@KirstenBlest There is nothing wrong with any of those names (especially James, George and Francis) but generally, surname type names are a bit dull.
