Brother for Nirvana and Jude

Zoomer122 · 07/06/2022 18:05

We are looking for a brother name to go with older sister Nirvana and older brother Jude.
I am in love with both dc’s names,Nirvana was initially named after the band that me and dp both really love but when we looked into the meaning it just settled it for us, and with Jude we got inspiration from the beetle song

these are some names that we like but can’t use:
Hendrix-we didn’t love the nn options and we weren’t quite feeling it
Fender-we loved the connection to Fender amps and guitars but it didn’t feel like a complete name for us
Bowie- dp top choice right now with possible longer name Boden but we already have a Beau in our family who often gets called Bowie
Blues-family don’t feel like it’s a proper name to use
Indie-my top choice and I’m trying to convince dp
Fox-this is my second choice but don’t like the nickname possibly of foxy

We are quite settled on the middle name options either Michael or Beesley after my late grandfather

If Michael is special to you then why not use that as the first name?

Zoomer122 · 08/06/2022 18:19

@Chaoslatte I don’t like the idea of almost giving away his name

@Zoomer122 but you suggested Beesley as a first name, how is that different?Confused

SpideySensesIsALoadOfShit · 08/06/2022 21:36

OP, don't be silly. My children's names have been ripped apart on MN for being "posh". I still think they are the best names on the planet, owned by the best young people on the planet. I don't give a shit what MN thinks. MN is a minuscule proportion of the population, and the proportion of this already tiny proportion which posts on any one thread is so tiny it's more or less invisible.

AnchoredNomad · 08/06/2022 21:36

Indie/Indy Michael is lovely and sounds like it fits with your DC. Why bother looking for a long version of the name, if he’ll always be called by the nn, just go with that.
Our DD is officially named a ‘nickname’ as we didn’t like the long form of the name

TonyBlairsLover · 08/06/2022 21:55

Go for Michael indie. Indiana for a boy is just horrific

mathanxiety · 08/06/2022 22:01

I like Nirvana. I've met one (now a teenager getting ready to head off to university soon).
I've also met a Kismet, aged four.

I like Indie. No need for a 'formal' name.

How about:
Creed
Crosby
Vaughn
Miles
Harrison
Morrison
Django

I’m not sure naming a child Enzo is fair considering drug slang….and as someone said Kurt did love the Benzos

Balonz is lovely through. Expresses your quirky, crazy, edgy side

Dammit you beat me to it but Balonz Beesley has a nice ring to it.

Zoomer122 · 08/06/2022 18:10

@Forthefirst I get that everyone thinks this is all quite funny and a few of the comments I am taking personally but I guess that’s what I get for posting on MN hahaha
but this comment really personally got to me both Michael and Beesley have such a special meaning to me and for them to get the Micky taken out of them hurts me a bit especially when everyone dosnt know the full story

Sorry but How are my suggestions any different to your own? Rock band name followed by the middle names you’ve chosen. Or are you seeing how ridiculous it is to call a child after a random band you like? I sincerely hope so. Poor ‘Nirvana’ is saddled with her name now but there is still some hope for this latest baby. Also no matter how special Beesley is it’s a surname and it’s not a first name so would be ridiculous to saddle a poor child with it. Pure attention seeking really.

Saul as in Slash from GNR

They're all so try-hard.

They are just not societies norm.

ZarquonsSandals · 09/06/2022 08:38

@internetpersonme perhaps OP doesn't care? I find society's norms quite stifling about a number of things.

I quite like 50 cent

But if you are in the UK then 50 pence would be more appropriate.

But a pound is worth more than a dollar, so the correct name would be About Thirty-Five Pence.

Can’t you just settle for a ‘you don’t have to be crazy to live here but it helps’ sign to signify just how edgy you are?

Wow what a load of horrible women commenting on here.
you have gorgeous baby names and sod what anyone else thinks xx

Bluevelvetsofa · 10/06/2022 09:10

Of course it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks about a child’s name, except- OP asked. If you make a request for opinions, you have to accept that you won’t like some of them.

Zoomer122 · 07/06/2022 19:09

Me and dh have been discussing more after some of the reply’s and here are some of our more “normal” name choices
Florian
Jaxon
Hayes
Brooks
Banks
sören

Yes definitely, all of these are better than your original suggestions.

While both indie and dakota are nice they sound very feminine names, not gender neutral at all, and I'm afraid your ds would be teased a lot for them.

I'm not edgy but I find conforming foe the sake of a quiet life ridiculous. If what you want to do isn't illegal and doesn't harm anyone l, just get on with it.
Foe example, my having purple hair doesn't stop me being competent in many disciplines, all relative to office work, but apparently people don't think PA'S should have purple hair.
Not sure how that's edgy.

WhatIvedone · 10/06/2022 22:35

@ZarquonsSandals you dyed your own hair purple. That’s your choice. I note op isn’t changing her name to nirvana indie and her Dh name to beezley - it’s the poor kids who are getting saddled with these names with no say in the matter while their parents no doubt have names that don’t set them back.

Thats the issue.

But the view on names is a personal opinion. There are few restrictions on what names may legally be given. My point was about societal norms. We don't know what OP's name is. It could be Pixie Euphemia Smetherington Gaylord for all we know.
Back in the day my grandparents would have had friends and colleagues named Gertrude, Alma, Archibald, Leopold, etc.
There is nothing stopping you using any name you wish once you're old enough to express that preference.
