Brother for Nirvana and Jude

Zoomer122 · 07/06/2022 18:05

We are looking for a brother name to go with older sister Nirvana and older brother Jude.
I am in love with both dc’s names,Nirvana was initially named after the band that me and dp both really love but when we looked into the meaning it just settled it for us, and with Jude we got inspiration from the beetle song

these are some names that we like but can’t use:
Hendrix-we didn’t love the nn options and we weren’t quite feeling it
Fender-we loved the connection to Fender amps and guitars but it didn’t feel like a complete name for us
Bowie- dp top choice right now with possible longer name Boden but we already have a Beau in our family who often gets called Bowie
Blues-family don’t feel like it’s a proper name to use
Indie-my top choice and I’m trying to convince dp
Fox-this is my second choice but don’t like the nickname possibly of foxy

We are quite settled on the middle name options either Michael or Beesley after my late grandfather

I didn’t realise my kids names were that controversial!!😳
Me and dh both love there names and so do our family’s and I have no regrets
Nirvana wasn’t just named after the band!hahaha
she was named due to the concept in Hinduism, Nirvana means "bliss" or being in "a transcendent state free from suffering”
And as for the spelling mistake on the Beatles totally my fault forgot to proof read

You admitted you originally picked the name Nirvana because of the band 🙄

nirvana loves her name and gets called niv and varnie most of the time and has never been picked on because of it
Jude has always been my top pick for a boy and i think it goes lovely with nirvana’s name
I have so many options and I’m not close to choosing any I think our top 5 right now are
1.jaxon beesley
2.Atticus Michael
3.blue Michael
4.Indigo - indie beesley
5.fox beesley

Poor children. And I'm sorry, say what you want, maybe people don't say to their face, but they definitely will behind their back

Blackcountryexile · 07/06/2022 22:00

Your children are people in their own right.

They’re not just a medium through which the parents can express their interests or hobbies.

You love music. Great. Most of us do.

It doesn’t mean we get to lumber our kids with names that they have to deal with for the rest of the their lives.

I would go no contact with my parents if they called me Fender, Blues - or indeed if they have me the name of a 90s grunge band.

Beesley is fine as a middle name. Go as wild as you like with the middle name, especially if it’s honouring an important family member. It’s not good as a first name.

Enzo is a great name. Loved enzo in vampire diaries.

ladydimitrescu · 07/06/2022 22:27

Jackson is lovely, Enzo is ok.
Jude is amazing - no one here was judging Jude. It was Nirvana and a sibling called Fender/Hendrix/Blues/Bowie that was raising several eyebrows.

Oldfilmsareshit · 07/06/2022 22:38

Bikini Kill
mudhoney
dinosaur jr
pavement
janes addiction

all great bands

oh sorry, forgot we were discussing an actual human.

nirvana is ridiculous. And I love Nirvana

IDreamOfTheMoors · 07/06/2022 22:45

Hello - my name is INIGO Montoya.
You killed my father.
Prepare to die.

rubydoobydoo · 07/06/2022 23:26

Not going to comment on Nirvana as she already exists and has that name.

First name that popped into my head to go with Jude was Gabriel though!

internetpersonme · 07/06/2022 23:55

Zoomer122 · 07/06/2022 20:00

I guess it’s just hard to please everyone hahaha
I was never into naming my children Simon or Richard etc. and yes I’m aware they are quite unusual but it dosnt mean they are unusable if they really hated there first names they always have there more traditional middle names to fall back on (Rose and Johnathan)

Its absolutely crazy haha really shows you're different and cool and i am impressed you've heard of Nirvana.

I bet it sparks loads of fascinating conversations at social events when you say it's really an ethic name

Kurt loved benzos

CandyLeBonBon · 08/06/2022 00:17

@internetpersonme 😂

alanabennett · 08/06/2022 00:37

If you're going to use Jaxon please use Jackson at least. You're not branding a product, you're naming a human being. Jaxon and the like doesn't make parents look cool, unique or quirky. Just illiterate.

WeasilyPleased · 08/06/2022 00:38

I will admit that I raised my eyebrows a bit at the name Nirvana at first but actually it's pretty especially if shortened to Vana.
Enzo is fab. Good luck OP and ignore the pearl clutchers!

Cactusprick · 08/06/2022 00:56

Oldfilmsareshit · 07/06/2022 18:29

This is cringey. It’s your kids names for life not your music preferences that need to be considered. What if they hate indie/ grunge. What if you had been called Disco or Jive or Twist? Don’t lumber them any more….

I thought exactly this. It’s so bad.

Scirocco · 08/06/2022 06:40

Naming your children after people runs the risk that the people might later turn out to have done questionable (or just straight-up reprehensible) things, so I'd avoid naming them after any individual musician.

Nirvana and Jude also have spiritual/faith meanings, so maybe something along those lines could work well, like Gabriel (Gabe), for example? Or something a bit uncommon but not obviously "on theme" like Kit (which you could always say was a subtle tribute to Cat Stevens)?

Or drum Kit.

I love how everyone’s already commenting on a name a child already has got!!
I wasn’t looking for options on nirvana’s name I was trying to find a name for my next dc
and as for some of the really rude comments on the names like blues and fender, I was never going to use them in the first place and if everyone read it at the start you would be able to tell that I won’t/can’t use them names for certain reasons, they were only mentioned so people could see what sort of style of baby names I like
