Expecting a boy in Jan!

Really liking Skip, I think that spelling is preferableto Skipp, any opinions?

Older brother is Jem

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
RosieGuacamosie · 18/11/2021 17:46

As in the thing you throw scrap/refuse into?

Animood · 18/11/2021 17:48

Skip...

AnyaMoondial · 18/11/2021 17:48

Yeah, I’m really sorry but I thought what RosieGuacomosie said too.

WheelieBinPrincess · 18/11/2021 17:48

A skip is what you have outside your house to throw all your junk into Confused

crumblebug · 18/11/2021 17:49

It's from the nickname of a sea captain

Would Skipper with nn Skip be better?

OP posts:
WheelieBinPrincess · 18/11/2021 17:50

Ah I see, are you a maritime family?

Hummingbirdcake · 18/11/2021 17:50

I would say Skip was more of a nickname. Sorry I don’t think the spelling is the issue here. Would you like to be called Skip/Skipp?

Topseyt · 18/11/2021 17:50

Not to my taste. I'm afraid it sounds silly.

It is either a large receptacle for household rubbish or a name for a kangaroo.

Toottooot · 18/11/2021 17:51

Neither - poor child.

StormyCornishSeas · 18/11/2021 17:51

Sorry neither

Although it made me think of crisps

Skip or Skipp?
villainousbroodmare · 18/11/2021 17:52

Tom
Jacob
Samuel
Mattie
Roddy

ExPatHereForAChat · 18/11/2021 17:52

Are you UK OP? Cannot imagine meeting a child with that name in the UK

StormyCornishSeas · 18/11/2021 17:52

@crumblebug

It's from the nickname of a sea captain

Would Skipper with nn Skip be better?

So like Miranda's boyfriend in Sex and the City

Yeah sorry still not keen

LethargicActress · 18/11/2021 17:53

Neither, it’s a kangaroos name.

BurntO · 18/11/2021 17:54

Please don’t

KILNAMATRA · 18/11/2021 17:54

He’ll have a tough time on the playground..

Poppins2016 · 18/11/2021 17:54

...or it's what children do with a skipping rope...

Apparently the name derives from the 'Skipper' of a ship.

I'd spell it Skip, OP. But I think I'd expect quite a few comments like those above...

I think it has an American feel.

tpmumtobe · 18/11/2021 17:54

The only Skipper I reference I know was Carrie's mate in SATC. Isn't it an American name? Skip, Chip etc.

Jem is a lovely name, I don't personally think Skip works with it...

crumblebug · 18/11/2021 17:55

OK message received re Skip..

How about Kai or Crew?

OP posts:
LethargicActress · 18/11/2021 17:55

Kai. NOT Crew!

StormyCornishSeas · 18/11/2021 17:57

@crumblebug

OK message received re Skip..

How about Kai or Crew?

Kai yes- especially grown on me due to that hot dancer on strictly

Definitely not Crew

Toottooot · 18/11/2021 17:57

Crew is even worse. Just dinna.

PatriciaHolm · 18/11/2021 17:57

Crew? Why not just lean in all the way and call him Able Seaman?

;-)

Kai sounds like a nickname too to be honest.

Is there a reason you wanted something to do with the sea?

FolornLawn · 18/11/2021 17:58

Jem is lovely. What have you got up your sleeve as nice as that?

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 18/11/2021 17:58

Jem is lovely

What about;
Gabe (full name Gabriel)
Finch
Drake
Ryker
River
Zeke
