Back again!! We now have a top three! Baby girl due in five weeks! No negativity to any of the names please as she will more then likely end up as one, I do know they aren't to everyone's taste. But our current list is;

Juniper (my absolute favourite)
Pepper (husband adores this name)
Nessie (we both quite like)

Just opinion on which you would go for please as I said no negativity on any, took us forever to agree on three 😂

Thank you ladies xxx

Nessie - a bit monstery! But Nessa, with optional shortening Nessie, is fine.
Pepper, sorry - pet name.
Juniper is lovely. June/Juno/Pip/Perry all good nicknames - so much she can choose from :) Go for it!

LittleTiger007 · 04/05/2021 16:39

I really wouldn’t call her Pepper as kids in school will snort like a pig around her. It’s a cartoon pigs name... go with any of the others but I really wouldn’t do that to my child however much I loved a name.
We had to change our first choice name - which we really adored (still do), because it was dodgy with our surname. At school there would have been ammunition for bullies and bullies don’t need it handed on a plate to them.

SoupDragon · 04/05/2021 16:40

Peppa pig still not putting me off Pepper 😂 it's a different name. I do understand it sounds similar, and people will constantly go "Peppa? Like the pig

How long do you think it would take your DD to get really fed up with "like the pig?" and all the pig snorts? From experience of having grown up with an easily "teasable" name, not long. I remember being fed up with mine midway through infant school and things did not improve!

Someone earlier suggested using it as a nickname for Juniper. How about that as an option?

SoupDragon · 04/05/2021 16:41

It doesn't matter how many times you say "it's a different name". It pretty much is the same name.

wombatspoopcubes · 04/05/2021 16:41

Juniper

StevieNix · 04/05/2021 16:43

Juniper 100%

Spied · 04/05/2021 16:43

Juniper

wildeverose · 04/05/2021 16:44

Just because you aren't bothered by the pepper/peppa pig similarity, doesn't mean your dd won't resent you for it. Kids are mean, and they will 💯 tease her. It won't be you being snorted at and called a pig for the majority of your school years.

angelaEhen · 04/05/2021 16:44

I love juniper, prefer the nickname June though.
My son son goes to school with a juniper and they use her full name

AnxiousAnnie86 · 04/05/2021 16:45

I may put the idea to husband as Pepper for a nickname from Juniper, see if I can swing it that way :)

Pepper! As said on the other thread.

So refreshing to hear uncommon names!

Ruthietuthie · 04/05/2021 16:47

Juniper is a lovely name, and by far my favorite of these three (although I also like Pepper, although I agree that it now instantly makes people think of Peppa Pig).
Just one thought: if you like Juniper because it is rare, do know that it is soaring in popularity. I know 6 born in the last two years. We are in the US, so perhaps that makes a difference, but it is definitely becoming more common.

ElphabaTWitch · 04/05/2021 16:47

Juniper I think. Pepper reminds me of character in modern family who is an older flamboyant gent. Nessie, Loch Ness monster. First things that spring to mind. Juniper is nice, and of shortened you’d probably end up with June or juni which I actually think is really sweet. Congratulations on your impending arrival. Flowers

Tambora · 04/05/2021 16:47

Out of the three, I choose Juniper.

It will be decades before anyone associates Pepper with anything other than Peppa Pig, and Nessie is the nickname of the Loch Ness Monster.

Isadora2007 · 04/05/2021 16:48

@AnxiousAnnie86 tell him that Pepper Potts real name is Virginia. So Pepper is a nickname not a real name. So Juniper can be Pepper as much as she can be Pippin etc.
More likely she’d be June or Juni though tbh

AnxiousAnnie86 · 04/05/2021 16:51

@MAMAW31 thank you! It's getting rinsed and making me a bad parent who wants their child to be bullied according to some on this chat 😂 I'm the same as you, looking for something different! We've got a huuuuge list but none that Jump out at me! Some more traditional but not used as often from our list that you may like are

Esther
Sybil
Ginnie
Robin
Darcey

So hard to find the right one. I'm hoping when we see her we will just know! X

Also I think it depends on your surname too. If your surname was pig ( although unlikely) pepper probably wouldn’t be your best option.....

Hazel444 · 04/05/2021 16:54

Juniper by a mile.
Nessie is a cute nickname for Vanessa.

ElphabaTWitch · 04/05/2021 16:55

Melody??

AnxiousAnnie86 · 04/05/2021 16:56

@ElphabaTWitch 😂😂 our surname isn't pig. 🤣🤣 it's a very traditional British surname. We know a melody x

Pemba · 04/05/2021 16:56

Juniper by miles, the other two have too many strong association with characters in fiction /legend. Is Pepper even a name, really?

Nessa, rather than Nessie is lovely though. Could also be short for Vanessa or something. Maybe Nerissa. Or there's Nesta (is it short for Agnes?). Nessie, apart from the Loch association is too cutesy and nicknamey as a stand-alone name.

SwedishK · 04/05/2021 16:56

Juniper, shortened to Juni.

UpTheJunktion · 04/05/2021 16:56

Pepper is a pig, Nessie is a monster...

Nettie
Hepzibah (Hepzi)
Hettie
Nancy

Jennyfromtheculdesac · 04/05/2021 16:57

Juniper.

As individual words I don’t have an issue with either Pepper or Nessie, but I would fear for the pig/monster nicknames.

UpTheJunktion · 04/05/2021 16:57

Nellie
Liberty
Mercy
Effie
Tala
