Back again!! We now have a top three! Baby girl due in five weeks! No negativity to any of the names please as she will more then likely end up as one, I do know they aren't to everyone's taste. But our current list is;

Juniper (my absolute favourite)
Pepper (husband adores this name)
Nessie (we both quite like)

Just opinion on which you would go for please as I said no negativity on any, took us forever to agree on three 😂

Thank you ladies xxx

Juniper is lovely.

I think, trying to be constructive rather than negative, Pepper and Nessie are in theory cute/cool or whatever but in practice may invite negativity and not what I'd want to be called as an adult. They'd be fantastic nicknames and I can see why you are considering them.

PineappleWilson · 04/05/2021 15:20

I used to have a French lecturer called Juni. I'd go with Juniper, with the option for her to shorten it if she wishes.

Pepper I like, but also think it will be thought of as Peppa. Nessie is awful, I'm sorry, unless it's a family nickname for Vanessa or similar.

ofwarren · 04/05/2021 15:22

Juniper is my favourite of those names.

Nightbear · 04/05/2021 15:23

I’d remind your DH that for the first 5 or so years of your child’s life their friends won’t be able to read, so they’ll only hear ‘Pepper’, which sounds exactly like Peppa in a non rhotic accent. And they’ll be very familiar with Peppa Pig.

Ninkanink · 04/05/2021 15:27

Juniper. By a long, long way.

99redspottedducks · 04/05/2021 15:27

Pepper was on our list
Like marvel pepper Potts etc but no matter what I just couldn't stop thinking peppa bloody pigAngry
Snort snort Hmm
So yeah the other two are nice Grin

romdowa · 04/05/2021 15:29

Nessie would be my choice out of the 3. Reminds me of nessa which is a name I love

Edenember · 04/05/2021 15:29

Juniper by several miles.

Theweedonkeeey · 04/05/2021 15:29

Unless you already have a child then you won’t appreciate how huge Peppa pig is-I’d rule pepper out because of that.

Nessie is a nickname for the Loch Ness monster - I don’t think I’d be able to associate with anything else.

So Juniper by process of elimination. I guess they would be nicknamed ‘June’

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 04/05/2021 15:29

Of the 3, definitely Juniper imo - unusual and very hippy/bohemian feeling but fun.

Without being unkind I think Nessie could be teased if you are UK based - unless it is Vanessa/Nerissa or similar on the BC.

I see Pepper as a bit insubstantial/more a nickname - probably for Philippa but any name with a strong "puh" sound would work. Actually you could possibly use Pepper as a nn for Juniper (then you'd both get your faves!).

Carbara · 04/05/2021 15:32

Juniper, unless you mind the ‘nipper’ sound.
Most English accents can’t pronounce Pepper, so she’d be Peppa.
Nessie- no.

AnxiousAnnie86 · 04/05/2021 15:32

Thanks all, juniper is my favourite by a mile with nickname Pip by he just isn't so keen!! She will be born in June too x

I think Juniper is a bit much day to day. Have you tried to imagine having a toddler & saying Juniper eleventy billion times a day?

Have you done the playground test? (Which would you feel comfortable calling out in a busy playground)

Pepper is kind of cute, but the association of Peppa would wind me up.

Nessie Reminds me of Nessa in G&S.

(Would you consider Jessie? Jessica)

I don't hate any of them & if you just said that her name is Nessie/Pepper/Juniper I'd likely think it cute. But possibly be inclined to call her Little Monster/Piglet/Gin

When are you due?

AnxiousAnnie86 · 04/05/2021 15:36

@99redspottedducks exactly that! It is after pepper Potts, but in the same with peppa pig! But that doesn't phase husband. .

None sorry

She will get picked on with any of these names

Jupiterstar · 04/05/2021 15:36

Definitely Juniper! I really like it and lots of good nickname options.
Pepper does just make me think of Peppa pig and I’m not sure she’d thank you for that. Nessie is okay.

SoupDragon · 04/05/2021 15:37

Pepper (husband adores this name)

If he watches back to back Peppa Pig he may well change his mind.

babbaloushka · 04/05/2021 15:38

Pippa over Pepper? Pepper is from AHS and sounds like Peppa Pig. Really live Nessa/Nessie and Juniper.

babbaloushka · 04/05/2021 15:38

Could Juniper have the NN Pepper or Pip?

PeanuttyButter · 04/05/2021 15:39

I prefer the name pepper but I hadn't considered pepper pig...
So I vote for juniper

LoveSleeping · 04/05/2021 15:40

Of the 3 names on your list in preference order:
1/ Juniper
2/ Pepper - cute but it's a condiment and a Pig (different spelling know)
3/ Nessie - it's the name of the Loch Ness monster

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 04/05/2021 15:41

Juniper is lovely.
Pepper is a Pets name
Vanessa is lovely, shortens to Nessie

Ninkanink · 04/05/2021 15:41

Pepper would actually make a fantastic nn for Juniper!

Babygotblueyes · 04/05/2021 15:42

Juniper

IggyAce · 04/05/2021 15:42

Juniper, I do like Pepper but would worry about peppa pig jokes from her peers.
