Surname and middle name are both one syllable so we want at least a two syllable name (middle name will be John).

Names I love that have been vetoed:

Raphael / Rafael nn Rafi (my absolute favorite but DW thinks it’s pretentious)

Jago (too ‘nicknamey’)

Rohan (Too ‘wet’)

Milo (Nestle milk)

Oscar (she had a fish called Oscar)

Tobias nn Toby (just doesn’t like it)

Names she likes that I don’t:

Rhodri
Ezra
Jonah
Sebastian

We can’t use a name beginning with El as it would be too matchy matchy with our DD which is a shame as we both like Elijah, Elliot and Ellis

Other names we both like but can’t use as they already belong to close friends or cousins are Arlo, Issac, Theo and Reuben

There is one name neither of us dislike (Jacob) but neither of us love it either. Please wise Mumsnetters there must be a name we haven't thought of yet??!

I agree about veto-ing Milo, Miles is much nicer

I also agree Rohan is a bit wet and will get muddled up with the increasingly popular Roman (that name has rocketed from nowhere in recent years and will be top 20 soon), one of the fastest rising names. Also don’t like inevitable nickname “Roh” - sounds like Row Row Row your boat

I like sebastian but see that you don’t. How about Seth? Or I met a Rudy/Rudi recently - such a cool name and similar to some of the names you both like?

MissHenty · 04/11/2019 12:30

How about Otto if you like Jago

TheQueef Granville is a great name! But the poor guy may already get singled out for bullying as he has two mums... we don't want to give him a name that gets him picked on.

parkersnose I like Henry from your suggestions but DW says no...

BertrandRussell Patrick John is lovely! I actually have a cousin called Patrick John (are you my aunt?!) so can't use that unfortunately

How about Joshua/Josh or Peter or Jackson/Jack or Louis?

I also love sebastian

All the “Rowan”s I know are girls. All the “Rohan”s I know are Indian. So unless your child is a girl and Indian I’d probably avoid that name if you’re trying to play it safe.

Leopardprintboots · 04/11/2019 12:41

Keir rhymes with Queer so could potentially be used again him. Maybe I’m reaching a bit here. Hopefully the next generation arent as ridiculous as mine was

Idris was a name I liked but was vetoed - similar vibe to some of your E names?

Themazeoflife · 04/11/2019 12:49

Jackson shorten to Jax

Theo is nice and not very common

Zaine is a name I really like but was not brave enough to use (20 years ago)

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/11/2019 12:50

Does anyone actually give a toss anymore about homosexuality? I'm in my 50s, DSs are late teens, I also work in a conservative environment and I don't know anyone who cares about this. Good luck with the little one OP, hope you find something you both like.
