Really want a lovely middle name for Casper, something feminine, vintage, pretty etc.
Many thanks in advance and happy new year Smile

For almost 1500 years, Caspar has been one of the names given to the Three Wise Men/Three Kings in the Christmas Nativity story. They bought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. (The other Wise Men's names were Melchior and Baltahazar.) Traditionally, Caspar was portrayed as young man.

florascotia2 · 01/01/2019 18:18

Balthazar/ Balthasar is the correct spelling, obvs. Sorry.

Winona1 · 01/01/2019 18:43

@SoupDragon yes REALLY. You don't agree taking the piss out of her pending arrivals possible name is rude? It's a 'daft' name in your opinion. The OP obviously likes it. It wouldn't be something I would particularly choose, but.. there is no need to be rude.

toomanyeastereggsurghh · 01/01/2019 18:46

Please don’t call your daughter Casper. Poor child.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 01/01/2019 18:50

There is every reason it be rude when an op wants to call her daughter Casper. Hopefully it’ll save the poor child.

DixieFlatline · 01/01/2019 18:55

First er is the US spelling. Should be Caspar.

Tell that to Norway and Denmark.

luckiestgirl · 01/01/2019 18:56

Casper Caroline.

I like Casper for a girl. You’ll only call her Cas anyway, or Cassie, so she won’t get bullied

SoupDragon · 01/01/2019 18:57

You don't agree taking the piss out of her pending arrivals possible name is rude?

Not in the slightest. Especially if it means the poor girl isn't given a boy's name and condemned to a lifetime of "Yes, Casper... no, I'm a girl... no, I have no idea if my parents desperately wanted a boy""

ReaganSomerset · 01/01/2019 19:00

Casper Rose
Casper Alice
Casper Nicole

SoupDragon · 01/01/2019 19:01

Anyway, unless things have changed dramatically in the last 2 months, I don't see how this name can be the OP's child anyway.

Winona1 · 01/01/2019 20:18

@SoupDragon

"Yes, Casper... no, I'm a girl... no, I have no idea if my parents desperately wanted a boy""

What is that nonsense 😂😂

Loveweekends10 · 01/01/2019 20:21

You are kidding- right?

Ginger1982 · 01/01/2019 20:22

Good one OP 🙄

greenpop21 · 01/01/2019 20:23

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

greendale17 · 01/01/2019 20:23

Don't call a girl Casper! You may love it op but it's not all about you is it? You'd be setting her up for so many problems as she grows up.

SoupDragon · 01/01/2019 20:26

🙄

Clearly you're incapable of understanding.

Winona1 · 01/01/2019 20:28

@SoupDragon I really don't understand.

SoupDragon · 01/01/2019 20:29

In approximately 80% of the poor girl's interactions, those will be her answers to question asked when she introduces herself. If you think otherwise, you are astonishingly naive.

SoupDragon · 01/01/2019 20:29

And if they aren't asked, that will be what people are thinking.

SoupDragon · 01/01/2019 20:30

Anyway, this is nonsense.

WrapAndRoll · 01/01/2019 20:36

There has been a bit more use of boys names for girls in recent decades. It might have been "cool" for a short time. It would be far more interesting now to hear of a boy with a girl's name. It doesn't happen though, because of the history of male superiority. Girl with a boys name? She's been "promoted". Boy with a girls name? The opposite, so it doesn't happen.

GummyGoddess · 01/01/2019 20:56

It's a baby name board, where you go to get feedback. If you don't want the rude comments don't ask for opinions!

It's why I go on the unique spellings posts and tell them they're being stupid. I have a stupid spelling and it's total shit, constantly correcting people, even when they reply to emails which have my name in the address, worries about hospital records and just general daily irritation for DECADES. I wish I had changed it when I changed my surname but my DM kicked off about how much she loved it and spent ages choosing it.

Don't give your daughter a boy's name. It will not do her any favours and you will be hurt and whinge when they express their dislike of it.

SilverySurfer · 01/01/2019 21:13

In your desperation to be 'yoonique' you want to give your daughter a name traditionally recognised as male. Bravo. Why don't you change your own name to Casper if you like it so much and give your child a name which is not going to cause her problems in life.

Also I'm interested, if it's so cool to give girls boy's names, how come no-one is racing to call boys Lucy or Emma? Hmm

TheRedFox · 01/01/2019 21:17

This is another troll thread surely?

Itsallwhite · 01/01/2019 22:30

Haha no no it's definitely a girl's name just uncommon Hmm kind of name :)
