Really want a lovely middle name for Casper, something feminine, vintage, pretty etc.
Many thanks in advance and happy new year Smile

singlenotsingle our baby name is a very old unused name. It's also my middle name and I have always liked it. My first name is unusual and rhymes with a word that is rude. But it didn't do me any harm growing up. I'm happy and confident in my own skin. As I hope my baby will be and the same for baby Casper :)

Singlenotsingle · 01/01/2019 12:55

You've got me guessing now, it's all white! Grin Are you a man called Dick?

Flamingosnbears · 01/01/2019 13:50

How about Cassie rather than Casper it will be slot easier for her to live with.

WrapAndRoll · 01/01/2019 14:46

Vita is nice, means life I think.

Caspar Elizabeth
Caspar Juliana

TatianaLarina · 01/01/2019 15:42

First er is the US spelling. Should be Caspar.

Second, you may think it’s cool to give a girl a boy’s name but I cannot tell you how fucking IRRITATING it is to spend your life assumed male.

Dear Mr Larina...

I used a diminutive for half my life and I got so fed up with the endless kerfuffles at doctors and dentists and ‘oh I’m terribly sorry’ that I went back to the full length version of my name, just to make it perfectly clear I’m a laydee.

Honeybee79 · 01/01/2019 15:46

Don't call a girl Casper! You may love it op but it's not all about you is it? You'd be setting her up for so many problems as she grows up.

What about Cassandra/Cassia/Cassie/caitlin?

dinnafashsassenach · 01/01/2019 15:51

This is not for real.

giantnannyknickers · 01/01/2019 16:23

I like Casper as a girls name.

What about Casper Rose 🥀?

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 01/01/2019 16:40

Mummylife2018 · 01/01/2019 16:43

Casper for ANY child is pretentious and pompous! PLEASE don't call a girl Casper! She will spend her entire life correcting people's presumptions re: her gender

littlemeitslyn · 01/01/2019 16:44

Ridiculous

sue51 · 01/01/2019 16:49

Please no.

SoupDragon · 01/01/2019 16:52

Seriously, why would you do this? Why are you after "something feminine, vintage, pretty" when the first name is literally none of those things?

Remember that it isn't you who has to live with having a obviously boys name as a girl.

RatRolyPoly · 01/01/2019 17:10

Meh, I really like it as a girl's name. I have a "boys'" name. Having a boys' name is cool. Seriously, more people have thought me cool for having a boys' name than have tried to teased me for it. I guess you have to be a certain sort of person.

Anyway, it's really common to use boys' names for girls these days. Actually it always has been, which is how so many names which were historically for boys are now for girls. And the ghost thing, honestly, no-one's going to get the reference when our babies are old enough to care.

Having a boy’s name may in some circles be thought cool (although that is debatable) but what is undeniable is that it’s a fad, and will date all those poor girls called James or Ronald or whatever to the early 2000s after it has become distinctly UNcool in a few years’ time.
I speak from bitter experience as someone with an unmistakeably 60s name which is now considered a bit of a joke. Or at least Very Uncool.

Honeybee79 · 01/01/2019 17:35

Whether it's cool or not is debatable. Personally, I remain unconvinced. Why make life harder for your child for the sake of looking "cool"? Yes, some children may carry it off and love it, but not all... And you don't know the type of child you're going to have.

Honeybee79 · 01/01/2019 17:38

An acquaintance called her little girl Evan a few months back. After an actress, she said. It's constantly being misheard as Erin and she gets a lot of double takes over it. She's now thinking of going with her dd's middle name instead Hmm

walkingonsunshine71 · 01/01/2019 17:41

Are you actually pregnant? You said you were late thirties with one child in a previous thread a month ago no mention of an impending baby

Winona1 · 01/01/2019 17:47

@quietmoon can't believe how rude some people are on here! If you love it, you go for it!! I think most people on MN are of the older / boring / small minded generation. I would go for a shorter middle name to compliment Casper, maybe Rae or Lo. Depends on your surname I suppose xx

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 01/01/2019 17:58

Having a boys' name is cool. I hate this trend. No one thinks it's cool to give a boy a girls' name. But hey, boys are better, right? Hmm

Honeybee79 · 01/01/2019 18:06

Agreed @SchnitzelVonKrumm. Where are all the boys called Sue?

SoupDragon · 01/01/2019 18:10

can't believe how rude some people are on here!

Really?

If you love it, you go for it!!

No. It's not the OP who has to live with it. People should really think before saddling a child with a name.

I think most people on MN are of the older / boring / small minded generation

I think that kind of "judgement" makes you small minded really. Personally I grew up with a daft name, that's why I hate it when people plan on giving their child one. There is a difference between cool/unusual and daft.
