So with the announcement that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting her 3rd child, what are your thoughts on baby names? I know it's early days...

Alexandra

Or

Frederick

For me...

Kevin or Sharon

If they're going to try a different style for baby no.3, they could go for:
Perry Eric Steve
Or
Tracey Teeearna Toolip

But suspect they'll choose traditional middle class names like:
Wilfred Albert Charles (known as Freddie)
Or
Helena Matilda Grace

I have a feeling it's a boy and a feeling that Prince Philip might die before the child is horn, so have a feeling in my water that maybe it might be Prine Philip or have Philip amongst its names.

If I'm totally wrong and it's a girl, I reckon Victoria.

EmilyDickinson · 04/09/2017 23:24

I find it odd that the Queen has a daughter called Anne and then a son called Andrew (which sounds like Anne-Drew). I wonder if she really liked the name Andrew so wanted to use it despite the first syllable being his sister's name, or just didn't realise.

EmilyDickinson · 04/09/2017 23:25

If they'd been twins I don't think she could have done it as it would have been obvious that the names were too alike.

EmilyDickinson · 04/09/2017 23:26

Anne and Andrew sounds really weird.

Anne and Andrew sounds really weird.

I think they will have a girl and call her Harriet. Then they will have ' Georgie, Charlie and Harry', I know a few 'Georgina, Charlotte and Harriet' families and I think they want to copy!

Seriously though, I think Victoria Catherine Alice.

Sparklemummyx0x0x · 04/09/2017 23:51

Snowdust Jane
Moonshine James

Or to fit in
Victoria, rose, Alice, Anna, Annie, Sophia.
Anne or Louise as middle names.

Thomas, Jack, Samuel, Joseph, Fred.
Edward, Phillip or Andrew as middle names.

Though it could be that if their siblings have a baby, they may also want to carry on a parents family name too. So Philip or Michael might be out. Sisters do like to talk about baby names and you never know her and pippa might have discussed baby's names to omit. Not that you 'own' a name but when the royals have 3 names per child it limits options for others.

Buntysoven · 04/09/2017 23:56

I'm guessing Mary Philippa Harriet and Philip (known as Pip) Henry Albert but I'm not confident

Albert
Matilda or Maud

Mclaren37 · 05/09/2017 02:19

Alice would be lovely with George and Charlotte. I feel like Arthur and Alfred are too widely used by us proles at the moment for the royals to chose them. Same goes for Freddie. Albert is a no-go as above. Maybe Philip or Theodore?

Sophronia · 05/09/2017 02:32

George is even more widely used by the general public than Arthur and Alfred.

They have a very small pool of names to choose from, typically ones that have been used by the Royal Family before, so it won't be Samuel, Joseph, Thomas, Daniel, Oliver, Theodore etc.

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 05/09/2017 03:11

I think Alice or Mary for a girl.

They won't use James as Kate's brother is James. I think Philip would be in there for a Prince's middle name.

Laineymc7 · 05/09/2017 04:40

Ernest or Sebastian for a boy
Clara, Martha or Eleanor for a girl

mathanxiety · 05/09/2017 05:21

The other names have a short name as first name, long name in the middle, and short again in the end (the syllables of Diana can be scrunched together in Sloanese). I would expect the same pattern again.

Alice Victoria Margaret
Mary Caroline Frances
Helena Christiana Rose
Adelaide Theodora Julia

Have to ponder boy names...

Copperas · 05/09/2017 06:13

I think they may go for Hanoverian names again. Perhaps Frederick or Amelia, but not Adolphus. George III had shedloads of kids ...

Heatherbell1978 · 05/09/2017 06:23

Henry or Victoria

Androidsdreamofelectricsheep · 05/09/2017 07:18

Surely it is time for Albert.

meanapparently · 05/09/2017 09:17

Alexandra. She prob calls Charlotte Lottie, she could then have Lottie and Lexie!

chantilly70 · 05/09/2017 10:10

Alice for a girl with Mary and Carol/Caroline as the second names.

John, Thomas or Nicholas for a boy with Charles and Philip as the second names.
