So with the announcement that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting her 3rd child, what are your thoughts on baby names? I know it's early days...

Alexandra

Or

Frederick

For me...

The Queen already has a grandson called James I think.

TragicallyUnbeyachted · 04/09/2017 19:31

My prediction:

Frederick or Nicholas for a boy.

Alice or Alexandra for a girl.

Middle names (boy): choose two from Michael, Francis, Peter, Philip, James, Arthur, Louis

Middle names (girl): not sure. Possibly Mary or Victoria in there somewhere? Alexandra if they don't use it as a first name, potentially.

NachoAddict · 04/09/2017 19:39

I think Matilda or Alice for a girl, both lovely names.

James or Henry for a boy. Arthur is nice though.

Applesandpears56 · 04/09/2017 19:40

Matilda is too German I think for an English royal baby...

MikeUniformMike · 04/09/2017 19:42

Vince if a boy or Finleigh-Mae if a girl

harrietm87 · 04/09/2017 19:43

They're not going to have a Caroline as well as a Charlotte surely, they're basically the same name.

I think Alice Victoria and Frederick Albert.

ScaryMonstersAndSuoerCreeps · 04/09/2017 19:44

Don't think it will be James.
Philip possibly for a boy. Alice or Mary for a girl.

SherbrookeFosterer · 04/09/2017 20:07

I think they should choose a gender neutral name like Kim, Billie, Lee!

puttingthegenieback · 04/09/2017 20:55

Apples the current British royal family is actually German in origin: the House of Windsor is the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha

I'm thinking perhaps Alice for a girl, Alfred or Henry for a boy

IggyAce · 04/09/2017 20:57

Girl: Adelaide or Helena
Boy: Leopold or Albert.

ilovesooty · 04/09/2017 21:10

Sophia was the name of George the First's mother.
Adelaide was the name of William the Fourth's wife.
How about Marina - Princess Alexander's mother?
I think Alice is a definite possibility - Prince Phillip's mother's name.
Prince Andrew 's last name is Edward and the Queen still used it for her next son.

BananaSandwichesEveryDay · 04/09/2017 21:29

Richard Philip William

Mary Victoria Margaret

All have a real pedigree. As an aside, there isn't any real problem with them using names they've already used - Prince Andrew's full name is Andrew Albert Christian Edward. And of course the name Edward was then given to his younger brother just a couple of years later.

AnarchyKitty · 04/09/2017 21:35

Canute or Rufus Grin
Victoria for a girl.

Androidsdreamofelectricsheep · 04/09/2017 22:08

Ethelreda

Curtainsider · 04/09/2017 22:08

I'd bet Michael after her dad.

DottyBlue2 · 04/09/2017 22:09

@AnarchyKitty ShockShock You can't call a royal child Cunt or AnusShockShock

ilovesooty · 04/09/2017 22:10

I wouldn't be surprised to see Philip or Philippa feature. Going back a long way, Philippa of Hainault was the wife of Edward the Third.

DottyBlue2 · 04/09/2017 22:12

Sorry, misread that.

theredjellybean · 04/09/2017 22:17

Alice Margaret Victoria..

Henry Phillip Spencer

I also got George and Charlotte right

Sophiealice95 · 04/09/2017 22:23

Phillip Michael
Phillipa Mary

ilovesooty · 04/09/2017 22:27

What about Louise in there somewhere for a girl,? Princess Anne's last name. Alice hasn't been used since Princess Anne was named I don't think, and Margaret's hasn't been used for years either.

VanillaSugar · 04/09/2017 22:33

Prince Edward called his daughter Louise.

TroysMammy · 04/09/2017 22:36

Mary Alice Elizabeth
Louis Phillip Francis

ilovesooty · 04/09/2017 22:40

What hasn't been used from previous royal generations?

Elizabeth Angela Marguerite
Margaret Rose
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary
Charles Philip Arthur George
Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise
Andrew Albert Christian Edward
Edward Anthony Richard Louis

or what about Zara?

ilovesooty · 04/09/2017 22:41

Yes Vanilla you're right.
