So with the announcement that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting her 3rd child, what are your thoughts on baby names? I know it's early days...

Alexandra

Or

Frederick

For me...

It will be Alice or Albert after George the 6th. His real name was Albert and they have to honour Williams great grandfather at some point. I also called it right on George and Charlotte lol

EmmyInTheSticks · 04/09/2017 17:38

I don't think they'll go at all vintage or retro. They play it very straight.

Alice or Louis.

TurquoiseOwI · 04/09/2017 17:39

@EmmyInTheSticks - definitely won't be Louis...

PinkFlamingo888 · 04/09/2017 17:40

Elizabeth or Arthur I think

SleepingStandingUp · 04/09/2017 17:49

Princess Persephone is where its at then Prince Peregrine for her brother

EmmyInTheSticks · 04/09/2017 18:06

Frederick is used by the Prince of Denmark - will that matter?

Would they want Prince Albert because of the piercing...

Alfred i.e. Alfie is possibly common.

Arthur maybe.

ContinuingPrim · 04/09/2017 18:07

One of Queen V's daughters was Helena, so that, possibly?
Queen Victoria's first name was actually Alexandrina, apparently, which I quite like. I doubt they would use it though.
Boys-no idea. James is a possibility.
I think they don't use names of living relatives as first names.

FizzyGreenWater · 04/09/2017 18:16

Caroline, or possibly Cuadrilla, in order to show their support for the fracking industry.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 04/09/2017 18:20

Caroline is already a 'royal' name - Caroline of Ansbach was married to George II - so perfectly usable. I like Helena and Maud is available too, but really old-fashioned sounding. Having said that, we were shocked when Fergie dragged up the names Beatrice and Eugenie!

NapQueen · 04/09/2017 18:21

Alice Margaret Caroline
Arthur Henry James

SuburbanRhonda · 04/09/2017 18:26

@Kierans

SuburbanRhonda - is that supposed to be funny?

Yes - hence the grin.

More:
Girl -Sophia, Jane
Boy - Christian

Hulababy · 04/09/2017 18:32

Alice and Arthur/Albert are current favourites apparently. So probably none of them in the end.

They've already used: George Alexander Louis and Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. So they are out too.

I reckon a previous royal name but more likely from William's great grandparents reign or before. So:

Victoria
Alexandra
Mary
Matilda
Jane
Anne

Alfred/Frederick
Richard
John
Oliver

Applesandpears56 · 04/09/2017 18:32

Frederick or Arthur

With Albert as a middle name

Alice or something very different like Sophia or Mary

I don't think they'll go for Victoria as Catherine has grown up with my generation where it's seem as a bit of an ugly overall name and Vicky will not be royal enough as a nn

Hulababy · 04/09/2017 18:33

Though I do actually prefer Alice, Albert and Arthur.

EmilyDickinson · 04/09/2017 19:01

I don't think that they will use Caroline. Don't both Charlotte and Caroline derive from Charles?

TallulahBetty · 04/09/2017 19:03

Henry after his uncle. Or Alice/Victoria.

CoolCarrie · 04/09/2017 19:05

James or Victoria

PenguinsAreAce · 04/09/2017 19:13

Alice or Mary
Peter or Albert

I reckon it'll be a girl, so Alice.

I also got George and Charlotte both right.

Glumglowworm · 04/09/2017 19:24

Alice Mary Victoria

James Albert Henry

Applesandpears56 · 04/09/2017 19:28
