Riley

Always makes me think of Mavis Riley from Corrie

lananzack · 26/02/2017 21:39

I also dislike the Mae/Mai hyphenation - probably just because it's so common.
Nevaeh, Destiny, Mckenzie, Leighton, Jaiden, Kaine...

Musicinthe00ssucks · 26/02/2017 21:39

Fresh my DD is a Niamh. It's beautiful IMO Grin Someone has mentioned Neve though!

Notso · 26/02/2017 21:40

Just waiting for DH's name now.

PennyPickle · 26/02/2017 21:40

Jamie or Jamie-Leigh and Kacey or Kacey-Leigh are the only two names I really dislike. I have no idea why - they just make me wince whenever I hear them.

I quite like the surname names for boys. My DS is a "surname" and has been mentioned. Neither of my dd's have yet - there's still time Grin

Sugarlumps333 · 26/02/2017 21:41

Ted, Teddy 😭😭😭

danTDM · 26/02/2017 21:42

Mercedes is a completely normal name in Spain. 'Merche'
Nothing at all to do with a car Hmm

tigerdriverII · 26/02/2017 21:45

Nasty thread and yes OP you knew just what you were doing when you started it.

But : Archive!!!! I bloody love autocorrect sometimes.

OddShoe · 26/02/2017 21:47

I've only got one - Fleur. I just find it so hard to say!

I'm suprised Seth is being mentioned so much! It was on my list if dc3 was a boy. Lucky she's a girl!

needalittleL · 26/02/2017 21:47

Phoebe and Chloe. No idea why. Not sure why so many others have said he same thing. I wonder if it's a kind of synrsthesia as I get a weird 'feeling' when I think about the shape and the sound of the names.

Mrsknackered · 26/02/2017 21:47

NotSo I started this and I am sorry. One of my children, my name, DH's, both alive sisters and my late sibling have appeared.
I meant more names that make you feel funny but you have no explanation for. Maybe avoid threads like this if you're worried about being affected by it. I truly meant no malice.

There are lots of opinion based threads that can offend people on Mumsnet!

Beth, Emily, Jessica- all so wishy washy and blahhh.
Freddie - just heard name shouted too many times in Waitrose by annoying horsey women.
Tia (Maria) - no further explanation needed.
Crispin - I just couldn't marry a Crispin.
Jasper - see Crispin.
Kai - always little shits. Always.
Tilliana - bollox pretentious made up name.

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 26/02/2017 21:50

Jack. A big no from me.

PetalMettle · 26/02/2017 21:50

Chanterelle? Surely no one uses that, it's a mushroom!

Crunchymum · 26/02/2017 21:51

My name and DS's name have been mentioned. DP has such an awful name it wl t get mentioned as no one uses his name anymore Grin

So it's just DD's name that is OK I guess?

Crunchymum · 26/02/2017 21:51
  • won't get mentioned
Tiredmama123 · 26/02/2017 21:52

Jeeeeez. What's with all the dislike for Darcey/Darcy/Darcie.

7 years ago it was a lovely and uncommon name that I chose for my DD. I still love it.
