abcde (absody)

Surely not Shock

Heard of a child called 'Matey' once I was a bit Hmm

Itsafunnyoldgame · 26/02/2017 20:56

Have seen dd2's name, ds1's name, my nieces and brothers, oh well you can't please em all Grin

TheLegendOfBeans · 26/02/2017 20:57

Oh! Names like "Buzz" and "Buddy"

Or worse: "Buddy Bear"

Yeah, you know.

PetalMettle · 26/02/2017 20:57

Ha I like quite a few of these. Funny i would have said I don't like surnames but I do like Blake - for some reason (ahem gorgeous Blake in home and away) I don't see it as a surname

tobee · 26/02/2017 20:58

My name is on here but not ds or dd. Yet. Lots of names I can't stand but one that gets on my wick is Janie. I don't know if it's a nickname but that's even worse. It's so insipid. Jane is fine but Janie, yuck. I like girls names to be strong. Actually Jeanie is probably worse.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/02/2017 20:58

Sadie

AbernathysFringe · 26/02/2017 20:59

Rarer ones that are really twee and naff and American though:

Journee (WTAF)
Avery (aviary)
Bree/Brie (cheese)

Bellybootcut · 26/02/2017 21:00

I've seenjoyed the following suggested as good names often on the baby name thread really dislike them-
Margot
Meredith
Miriam
Ruth

They're all so middle aged to me.

kel1234 · 26/02/2017 21:00

Curliwobbles- I have a double barrelled name. What's wrong with it?

LobsterQuadrille · 26/02/2017 21:02

Oh yes - Ruth - sounds like a dog barking.

MsGameandWatch · 26/02/2017 21:02

My American friends sister is "Brandi" -?she is almost fifty and I shake my head every time I see her on FB.

Flossiesmummy · 26/02/2017 21:02

Anything hypenated.

Anything with a "unique" spelling.

Anything hipstery like Storm, Rainbow, Leaf.

Babykoala1 · 26/02/2017 21:03

I'll probably cause some offence here.. but I hate flower names, Poppy, Daisy etc... And why does everyone put Rose as a middle or hyphenated name?! It's bugs me.

The80sweregreat · 26/02/2017 21:04

I hate my name.
The short version is ok, but never liked it.

LarrytheCucumber · 26/02/2017 21:05

Doing well here - my name and the names of both my grandchildren have already appeared, and my godson and his brother Grin
I can't understand the 'old lady names' revival at all.

Itsnothingoriginal · 26/02/2017 21:08

The male names that really make my toes curl are not currently in vogue like Keith and Kevin and female names ones like Brenda, Glenda etc!

AYankinSpanx · 26/02/2017 21:10

I'm not listing names that I don't like, as it always eventually causes trouble and hurts someone's feelings.

So I'm going mention perfectly nice, classic-ish, popular names, that I've actually mostly had positive experiences of, and I don't even actively dislike but make some deeply buried hackle inside me quiver slightly.

Caitlyn
Edward
William
Molly
Mia

TheLegendOfBeans · 26/02/2017 21:11

do you think we will see a tonne of baby Keiths in something like 2028 the way we have a tonne of Stanleys/Archies now?

Could Alan be the Oliver of 2030?!

SoMuchPain · 26/02/2017 21:11

Lexi or variations thereof e.g Lexi-Mai

SoMuchPain · 26/02/2017 21:11

Mae

Itsafunnyoldgame · 26/02/2017 21:12

I'm also doing well @LarrytheCucumber I've also spotted Dh's name Grin

Thingsthatmakeugoummmm · 26/02/2017 21:14

Anything hyphenated! Why oh why? And names that are spelt differently to appear different. I used to know mum at school who's daughter was called Hayleigh! She used to constantly moan about not being able to buy her daughter anything with her name spelt 'correctly'!

GloriaGaynor · 26/02/2017 21:15

Keeley Kylie Kayleigh Kenzie Kayden Kayne Kai Kasey Kallum

Robinkitty · 26/02/2017 21:15

Bella, Isabella, Isabelle. It's a perfectly fine name but my god I know so many of them.
Olivia, I don't like the sound of it.

AWhistlingWoman · 26/02/2017 21:15

All my DCs names are on here I think (four) and my own! Sorry for all the toe curling we must be responsible for as a family, at least DH's name isn't on the list Grin

Can't say there are any names I particularly dislike but totally understand why some names don't have pleasant association for those of you who were bullied Flowers
