Malcolm, Colin and Trevor.

I have a hyphenated name and a very lovely niece called Darcy. My own DD's name hasn't appeared yet but I'd be quite happy if it did Smile

oohloolala · 26/02/2017 20:48

Came back to say yes MumBod!! I really don't get the same initial thing

Babyroobs · 26/02/2017 20:48

Three out of four of my kids names have been mentioned on this thread ! Funnily enough the only one that hasn't been mentioned is the one that over the years I have considered might be a slightly chavy name !!!

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 26/02/2017 20:48

Whiskey, I am in Scotland and names ending in 'y' can sound a bit rough in our accent ifyswim.

In England you have a soft 'ay' whereas up here it's a hard 'ie'

Upyourdaisy · 26/02/2017 20:49

Mine too WhiskeySourpuss

All 5 end in the 'ee' sound as well.

hearyoume · 26/02/2017 20:49

Jordan. Hate it.

Anything with a hyphenated May/Mai/Mae on the end.

Pippa.

lauryloo · 26/02/2017 20:49

Anything with mae/may tagged on the end

And jaxon.

Babyroobs · 26/02/2017 20:49

All the Jordan's I know are big trouble !!

Positivitee · 26/02/2017 20:50

Oh yes Jacob is pretty awful and Jack.

feckitt · 26/02/2017 20:50

Slightly off topic but I know someone who knows someone who has called her two boys Jacob and Noah - because she likes modern names!!

Babyroobs · 26/02/2017 20:50

Yep Jaxon and Maddox. Bloody awful.

gtyrfctsrght · 26/02/2017 20:51

James is over used too. It's the obligatory male middle name equivalent of Mai I'm sure.

Ella
Ava

Just make me think of blowsy barmaids.

...and my worst

Summer. I irrationally can't stand it and I don't know why. It's the name schoolyard queen bees would have.

Disclaimer: the masculine version of my DDs name has appeared on this thread so yes, different strokes...

WhiskeySourpuss · 26/02/2017 20:53

I'm in Scotland Troll not sure if this makes it worse but they are all pronounced correctly - by me at least as DS has an Irish name so it never sounds right when others say it

hearyoume · 26/02/2017 20:53

Oh and Alan. I fucking hate the name Alan. I've met so many shitty Alans and it is such a drippy name.

MsGameandWatch · 26/02/2017 20:54

Lexi
Celeste
Lola
Finn
Louie
Caleb
Seth
Kane
Chloe
Phoebe
Wren - so fucking twee it makes me nauseous.

TheLegendOfBeans · 26/02/2017 20:54

I hate Josh too. That name smacks of "guy all the girls want who's basically a man-whore".

In other news, all the Duncans I know are fat.

Onedaylikethi5ayear · 26/02/2017 20:55

I met a small girl called Justice recently, Justice!?!

My Dd's name has been mentioned and I am saddled with a hyphenated name, it's such a faff 'do you want to be called first name or second name?' plus there's forms and things that don't let you have hyphens. I would not subject a child to it.

MsGameandWatch · 26/02/2017 20:55

I know a little Canadian boy called Jaxon, a name I really disliked but on him it's perfect.

AbernathysFringe · 26/02/2017 20:55

juju me too on the synaesthesia. Chose my dd's name as much for colour co-ordination and 'texture' as anything else.

I really hate three very popular names, more because of the affected tone of voice they tend to be said in, than the actual names themselves.

I also think a lot of people give their girls names that are little girly and pet-like, but to me sound a bit like a simpleton on an adult woman.

So yeah, not actually saying any of these names as they are all in the top 20 or so.

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 26/02/2017 20:55

Mercedes

...here we go...

It's a very run of the mill, old-fashioned Spanish name. Seeing that there hundreds of millions of Spanish speakers in the world, you cannot rule out a Spanish connection.

I guess it's easier to think "oh dear! A car name - how chavvy" and feel so so superior Hmm

Babyroobs · 26/02/2017 20:56

Kai, Tye, Ava, Rocco.
