Littlepiglittlepig3letmeIN · 27/02/2017 00:15

Yes!
12 whole pages and my child's name hasn't been mentioned! Smile

bingandabong · 27/02/2017 06:42

Shocked my DS name hasn't been mentioned (yet) when we tell people his name we get a mixed response, I always like it when people say 'oh errm that's different' I tell them it's ok not to like it Grin

My name is hyphenated and I never go by my full name, I also have a middle name!!! Think my mum got over excited as I was her last and only girl!

Hotpinkangel19 · 27/02/2017 06:57

Really don't like Nevaeh.... 'it's heaven spelt backwards' really grates!!!
Janet
Noah
Isaac
William
Thomas
Evelyn

DaffodilTime · 27/02/2017 07:52

This thread is quite depressing, suggesting people just don't like names from a different social background to their own and one poster not even holding back from commenting how common a family near her are and finding it funny. I know it's not meant like this but I find the gist of this not very different to racism.

Our DC haven't been mentioned btw, and I understand asking advice on names if general reactions are wanted but for some this thread has become a platform for airing prejudice surely.

JonesyAndTheSalad · 27/02/2017 07:53

Daffodil you're right. It's like that thread about the Facebook crafts. So mean.

MrsMeeseeks · 27/02/2017 08:21

Names where a vowel has been swapped for a Y: Madyson, Megyn, Kynadi... I don't know why, it just grates.

Girls' names ending in 'son': Addison, Emerson, Madison.

Most surnames-as-names: Tanner, Hunter, Sawyer, Cooper.

Gaaaah · 27/02/2017 08:28

Agree with you daffodil I thought my own name was one of the most normal names on the planet but even that's been mentioned here Grin

Cinderpi · 27/02/2017 08:46

My baby (who is not currently screaming and so is the best baby in the world) is in the OP - I'm actually quite glad because I love her name, and maybe the more people who dislike it the less likely it is that she'll be one of many Smile

For me, Libby/Olivia/Olive are all toe curlers, the lib/v sound makes me uncomfortable for no logical reason!

I am not at all offended that someone dislikes my name. Not that keen myself!

Littlepiglittlepig3letmeIN · 27/02/2017 09:03

Some people are over thinking things.

SuperBeagle · 27/02/2017 09:05

My kids' names have been mentioned here. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Grin

Let's be real, we don't all have the same likes and dislikes and that's what makes life interesting.

MuseumOfCurry · 27/02/2017 09:08

Jayden.

Annahibiscuits · 27/02/2017 09:15

Eva, Evie, Ella, Ellie, Mia, Myah, Flora, Rosa,

copperpipe · 27/02/2017 09:15

Ha. Included on this list:
Me, OH, DD, my two brothers and my childhood dog. (And a name from the potential DC2 name list which is my current favourite!)
My middle name is the much maligned hyphenated name too.

I really dislike
Craig
Greg/Gregory
Kylie
Karen

This may also be slightly outing, but in my career I have come across:
Jesuslight
Gospel
Space and Spacious (brother and sister.)
Dollah, Kaish (pro. cash) and Koyn (pro. coin)
Cairo

And actually I quite like some of those ones!

Annahibiscuits · 27/02/2017 09:16

And Poppy

SecretWitch · 27/02/2017 09:28

What a nasty little thread. You knew exactly what you were doing when you started this, Op.

I am so close to a Bingo! I've got both my children's names and my husbands but not mine!
The title of this thread was very self explanatory anyone opening it and then getting offended are clearly the type of people who actively seek out offence. Take your offence and scroll on by this thread has brightened a bleak weekend!

My most hated names are:
Demi
Winter
Tallulah (or however you spell it)
Philip
Louis
Any hyphenated name.
Double points for any hyphenated name with may/mae/mai
Any name misspelled.
Cyran
Ellsbeth
Jeremy
Keith
Greg
Shaun
Any brands used as names.

flapjackfairy · 27/02/2017 09:29

Penelope! Ugh

ohgoshIdontknow · 27/02/2017 09:29

Nasty, sneering thread.

flapjackfairy · 27/02/2017 09:38

So sorry penny pickle just seen your post.
I actually like penny but not penelope probably due to the 2 i knew at school who were not the nicest.
I actually hate my name and cringe whenever i hear it .l am a Helen.
So not smug at all. Sorry to any Helens i have just offended as well!
Think i will sneak off now before i do any more harm !!

Crusoe · 27/02/2017 09:39

I have an irrational loathing of the name Matthew. It's odd because I tend to favour classic more traditional names but Matthew just gets me. I think it sounds a bit wet!
Apologies to all the Matthews out there and you can all hate me as my DS has a surname as a first name!

Afreshstartplease · 27/02/2017 09:42

2/4 of my DC have been named. As have I!

I'm very surprised one of my other DC hasn't as I would have thought it would over the others! I've previously heard its a 'naughty boy name'

Ilovewillow · 27/02/2017 09:44

Santa that made me laugh, I love Poppy! We have a Willow and people are always keen to tell me their pet is also called Willow!
