Oops! There's one. 1 dd and 2 dogs to go....

Mrsknackered · 26/02/2017 23:00

Bingo! Every single one of us, down to the dog.

Can we have a names that make you smile thread?

Scrumptiousbears · 26/02/2017 23:03

I'm not on here, nor DP but one of my DD is.

I can't get my head around cute names for baby girls that sound a bit stupid when they are older. Poppy being one of them. Nice for a little girl. Not so and a bit silly for a high powered exec or Judge IMO.

Lilacpink40 · 26/02/2017 23:03

Kobi
Kody / Cody
Jody / Jodi
Kai
Kaden
Anything hyphanated with mai /leigh

Bellabluea · 26/02/2017 23:07

All my Dds are on here! I don't mind, I find it interesting actually. My daughters make their names not the other way around.

It's funny how opinions of names can change over time though. Names I used to view as really ugly and old-fashioned, I now find myself quite liking. Not saying I'd use them but the likes of Edith, Meredith and Dorothy I can kind of see the beauty in them.

SoupDragon · 26/02/2017 23:10

Seems I was right.

redandwhite1 · 26/02/2017 23:11

I name associate too! It's so hard to like a name when you know someone you don't like with it

I don't like:

Claire
Stacy
Henry
Rupert
Emily

AYankinSpanx · 26/02/2017 23:11

These threads always end up the same. The original OP can be apparently innocuous, but the same themes always occur:

'K' names
Hyphenated names
Names that a stripper would have
Names that a judge wouldn't have

Always.

nigelforgotthepassword · 26/02/2017 23:12

Ha! Both my DD's names are on the hate list it seems...Smile. In fairness we called dd2 her name as it was the month she was due to be born in-it was a nickname for the bump that just stuck-didn't realise the world and his wife would use it as hyphen add on to lots of other names...I care not really-Except it is quite funny that dd1's name seems to be the name usually used before it. Lots of people
must cringe at me and I never even gave it a thought until now (and probably never will again to be fair Smile)
And my own name is on here too-although I agree with that as I hate it as well.
I don't like Tony (or Anthony), or Michael as names for no real reason...

AYankinSpanx · 26/02/2017 23:13

I really want to list the names that make me swoon with love, but I can't because they're really unusual; no one else likes them, and they'd completely out me Grin

BillyButtfuck · 26/02/2017 23:20

I notice Op has avoided posting her own children's names, what a nasty thread Hmm

nigelforgotthepassword · 26/02/2017 23:22

Ah go on yank...
I will if you like-I love the name Barnaby.Whenever I've said that to anyone in rl they have looked horrified.
And I like Cicely and or Sissy as a girls name-I looked after a lovely old lady by that name-again, no one else likes it.Grin

Mrsknackered · 26/02/2017 23:23

BillyButtFuck yes and risk my anonymity. I have no issues with my children's names and couldn't care less what others thought of them.
And yes, they are all listed on here in separate posts. I have an old man, a commoner and a pretentious.

BillyButtfuck · 26/02/2017 23:24

You couldn't care less what people think of your children's names yet start this thread due to your interest in names.
Ok.

JudgeJudySheidlin · 26/02/2017 23:28

OP, I see this thread for what you intended & it is a fun thread for those who enjoy that type of thing. I will add my entire family has had their names listed. It makes me giggle because we all have different tastes in names & I'm certainly not offended by anyone's opinions.

Names that I really don't like are:
Margot
Pauline
Hilda
Nora
Nevaeh
Roger
Travis
Ethan
Quintin
Ryan - dislike as a male name yet like it as a female name

For those reading who don't like this kind of thread, why are you reading it?

ohsomany · 26/02/2017 23:30

Hate hate hate Zack or Zac
Hate Joshua or Josh
Hate Paul and Seth
And Lucas makes me always think of mucous

lananzack · 26/02/2017 23:32

Finally one of mine has come up! Kept peeping back here all night to check Grin

TomHardyswife · 26/02/2017 23:35

Older names that make my toes curl 😄

Barry ( I once refused a date with someone called Barry...don't know why but makes my skin crawl!)
Roger
Gary
Mike
Darren
Julie
Pauline
Pam ( there was always a manager who disliked me called Pam)

I used to live down under where the popular older names that made my toes curl (that you don't see much in the UK )

Raewyn
Raeleen
Brent

I have a female horrible 1970s name which I have always hated. Can't believe it's not been mentioned yet!

ifcatscouldtalk · 26/02/2017 23:36

I think I've got this all wrong. I'm slightly disappointed that so far my daughter's name has made no one's toes curl. It's ok, I've seen it described as boring before and maybe boring names aren't toe curlers.Grin.

Flowerfae · 26/02/2017 23:42

I can't really think of any other names I don't like, but I hate my name (Amy)

Buntysoven · 26/02/2017 23:56

Sidney and the girl equivalent. Horrible sour sounding name to my ears.. sorry!

joannegrady90 · 26/02/2017 23:57

Flowelfae I love your name! My best friends called Amy and I've always loved her name more than mine!

rednsparkley · 27/02/2017 00:08

All the way through this thread and none of us have appeared on it. Gutted!! Grin

Although I have seen about 90% of the DC's school Grin

JonesyAndTheSalad · 27/02/2017 00:10

Corey. It's just...apple corey!
