Names you hate!

First born is due in Dec (gender not known) and dh and I are pondering over names and he's suggested a few now that I absolutely hate - only because I know or knew somebody with that name and they were complete and utter shit heads!

They were every day names, nothing daft like Apple or Tiger Lilly but once associated with a past prize twat!! I go right off it!

Anyone else had this?

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 05/08/2016 15:21

Yep. I've always always always wanted a son with a certain name. (After a dear friend who died when we were teens)
Ex vetoed it straight off as the boy he knew with that name "was a twat". :(

HyunaRiddle · 05/08/2016 15:35

Claire- 2 horrid girls I knew had this name have completely ruined it for me.

Harry/Hermione - Harry fucking Potter

Brian/Bruce/Brody, they're just awful names, sorry to anyone with these names

Elena- Very whiny character from the Vampire Diaries

wizzywig · 05/08/2016 15:39

Double barrelled names where the first name ends in y or ie and the second bit is may/mae.

twinjocks · 05/08/2016 16:06

Karen - horrid bully in school.
Oscar and Pierce - such harsh sounds.

ChanelNo314 · 05/08/2016 16:10

Love the name Bruce. Dont know any but i think its cool. Rex and Bruce. (Ponders). V different from Brian!

I dont like sur nam3s on girls.. like spencer or parker or hunter on a girl. V harsh.

Bert2e · 05/08/2016 16:16

Any of the surname type names so Parker, Blake, Bailey......all terrible I'm afraid. Oh and "creative" spellings: Jorja anyone :-(

sonlypuppyfat · 05/08/2016 16:18

Can't abide old people names for baby's, Arthur, Sidney , Mavis etc just awful

Atlas15 · 05/08/2016 16:19

Maiden
Jayden
Kayden
Ellie-May/Rose/Louise
Strange spellings for simple names, I saw a Dayve go up the credits after a film.

Loyly · 05/08/2016 16:23

Harris. I wouldn't choose a place name, a surname, or a brand name for a first name and it's all three. That's just my preference. It has unpleasant connotations too. It makes me think of that sex offender Rolf Harris and (in some accents) it sounds like slang for arse. It's just awful.

TroysMammy · 05/08/2016 16:24

Human names that are given to pets like Barnaby and Troy. My dsis's friend called her daughter Samantha. My parents have a tortoise with the same name.

ClarenceTheAngel · 05/08/2016 16:38

I don't hate the name Karen, but I've never met a nice one! As for Barnaby , my DS announced one day that he was now to be called Barnaby(not his real name ,obs)- heaven knows why!😕

TroysMammy · 05/08/2016 17:04

Reminds me when I was younger. A little boy of about 3 who lived a few doors down and about 5 years younger than myself used to come over to play post office and watch my mother wash clothes in an old fashioned twin tub. When we moved to another part of the village he used to wear a ribbon in his hair and insist he was to be called Troysmammy. He must be early 40's now and works in Tesco Grin.

Raines100 · 05/08/2016 17:10

Hannah, Emily, Laura, Kirsten- horrid girls at school.
Robert- picked his nose and ate it.

Granny and Grandpa chic names- Stanley and Arthur, Iris and Violet- yuck.

Notso · 05/08/2016 17:31

sonlypuppyfat and Raines100 you do realise that old people/Grandparents were babies once.

TroysMammy · 05/08/2016 17:34

I've got an Uncle Ronald and an Uncle Malcolm, hard to believe they were babies too but they are in their 80's now.

jobrum · 05/08/2016 17:41

Mia. I wince whenever I hear it, it just sounds like a noise. Mia. Irrational but I can't beleive its a name.

RaaRaaTheLion · 05/08/2016 17:56

Oakley, Blake, Brandon, Levi, Shane, Shaun, Martin, Bernard, Reggie

Chelsea, Charmaine, Lacey, Kiara

ClarenceTheAngel · 05/08/2016 18:10

Madbengalmum · 05/08/2016 18:13

Jude, everybody seems to be calling their male child this, i cant stand it.

wizzywig · 05/08/2016 18:13

grandpa chic?! must remember that one.

Madbengalmum · 05/08/2016 18:14

Oh and double names, like ann-marie, lily-jade, you get it.

Purplebluebird · 05/08/2016 18:17

Rolf
gary
cornelia

brightnearly · 05/08/2016 18:20

Seth, Ferris, Fraser (both could be lovely dogs!), American inventiveness (Hunter, Rain, Ocean, Phoenix, Niagara), days/months/seasons (Tuesday, April, Autumn), animals (Fawn, Bunny, Raven, Tiger) and towns (Chester Leicester Kirkenby Dale!)

HoratioNightboy · 05/08/2016 18:25

Names with a V in them, especially Veronica, Vanessa and Vivienne. Or a stong "I" sound like Iris. And names with both together are the worst, especially Ivy and Violet. (shudders)

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/08/2016 18:46

Lily-Mae
Bella
Harriet
Dylan
Mason
Arthur
Charlie (Although I quite like it for a girl)
