Names you hate!

First born is due in Dec (gender not known) and dh and I are pondering over names and he's suggested a few now that I absolutely hate - only because I know or knew somebody with that name and they were complete and utter shit heads!

They were every day names, nothing daft like Apple or Tiger Lilly but once associated with a past prize twat!! I go right off it!

Anyone else had this?

Elizabeth- I just find it so dull. I do however like Eliza & I don't mind Beth.
Twee names: poppy, Millie, Maisie.
Rosemary. Sinister (& mils name!)
Gemma & Tanya: never met one I liked. Bitches!
Any Alex based names. From Alexander/Alexandra to Lexi etc. Don't know why. Sasha is the exception to that rule.
Julian & Justin, I find them a bit wet
Jayden, kaiden, brayden etc
Guy- it's lazy naming.
Really American style; peyton, Mckenzie, Amberlynn, Madison ...

& stupid spellings

Porcupinetree · 06/08/2016 13:26

Jack, James, Jane, Wallis, Charlotte, George, and Mai/May/Mae.

dizzyfeck · 06/08/2016 14:07

I agree V names are horrid

Trevor, Sharon, Darren, Tracy, Kevin, Donna, Kylie, Jadon, Jason, Dave, Brian, Kerry, Jade - can't be said without a horrible cockney accent

Simon, Louise, Sarah, Jane, Julie, Stephen, Lucy, Paula, Paul, Peter, Mary, John, Daniel, Robert, Roger, Ann, Margaret, Elizabeth - boring names

bonjournono · 06/08/2016 14:13

Darryl / Malcolm / Nigel - irrationally annoys me

Carissa/ Keira /Sophie- horrible bullies at school

Connor - all Connors I've met have been badly behaved or rude

Callum - see Connor

Imnotacelebgetmeouttahere · 06/08/2016 14:18

I disliked Poppy for years - thought it was too cutesy - then I said DH could name DD as I named the boys ( obv joint decision but my suggestions) - he named her Poppy ...

It grew on me and I love it now :)

PeekAtChu · 06/08/2016 14:19

I liked Jacob but DH vetoed it because it made him think of cream crackers and he hates them Grin. Had a girl anyway.

EthelDurant123 · 06/08/2016 14:30

Crispin. Oliver. Tarquin. Jeremy. Maybe it's a class thing.
Susannah, Jennifer, Jamie, (bully at school) Clarissa and Rebecca (my husband insisted this was my daughter'smiddle name Sad Rebecca was a horrible bully, also, at school.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 06/08/2016 14:36

Kerry. Nasty, nasty girl at school.
Dominic. Have never met one that wasn't evil.
Vicky. Just makes me feel uncomfortable for some reason (??)

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 06/08/2016 14:36

And anything ending in -ayden, obviously...

Seekingmiracles · 06/08/2016 16:19

Twee names -child could end up being quite butch.
Granny/grandpa chic names - Sybil!!!
Made up spellings - why change it? You're not original, just a bit twatty.
Animal names - Bear seems to be popular where I am! Awful! What if Bear turns out to be a weedy little nerd??

Porcupinetree · 06/08/2016 18:39

Last one I promise,

James, as a middle name....surely this is the equivalent of May/Mai/Mae!?

How Lily May and Chelsea Mae get labelled as common or chavtastic and Ethan James or Joshua James escape is completely puzzling!

ScarletForYa · 06/08/2016 18:46

Rupert, Barnaby, Rueben, Milo, Toby etc

Ridiculous!

Pippin8 · 06/08/2016 18:51

Neveah.
And the parents can't wait to tell you it's heaven backwards.

0pti0na1 · 06/08/2016 18:58

Duncan and Malcolm are names I detest. I have no real rational reason but that's how I feel and quite strongly too.

Did you have to study Macbeth at school? Grin

user1456923830 · 06/08/2016 19:07

Bonjour. My Connor is neither badly behaved or rude!!!

bonjournono · 06/08/2016 19:29

I'm glad a Connor has proved me wrong, user. Was talking of my personal experience of course. Wink

shartsi · 06/08/2016 20:15

My DH says Roy is a name for pick pockets.

raviolidreaming · 06/08/2016 20:17

Chloe. I used to like it, and now I absolutely despise the way it sounds.

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/08/2016 20:36

Ethel

Tarquin and Crispin are so off my radar they might as well not exist. So maybe it is a class thing!

Oliver is a name I struggle imagining a grown man having, which is ridiculous given I associate it with the not exactly delightful Oliver Cromwell.

Jeremy. Well, has there ever been one who hasn't been a bit of a knob? I don't think there has.

Ellieboolou27 · 06/08/2016 20:50
