What are unusual names that have stood out for you in your dc's class?

There is an Alaska which makes me smile every time I hear it and a Francesca and Emma which are nice because they are names that I hardly hear on children.

I said that to DS, but nope, she spells it with a 'u'!

I work with a woman with a wonderful name that always makes me smile but I won't reveal it because she's the top hit when you google it. I was at school with a Penny Black. Why, just why?

Not my DCs' nursery but my fave name belongs to a friend of my parents - now in his sixties I think: Pudens. From the Latin ("bashful"), though of course the first thing one thinks of is "pudenda". Poor man, I think at least he is of the social class to have been called mainly by his surname. I dread to think of his ordeals at boarding school :o
