Have been inspired by this thread.

So which names have you only ever heard once?

Can I start of by saying I only know one of the following, all children:

Wolfgang but I do know a wolf too.
Paris
Waldon
Sapphire
Emerald
Troy
Leonie

I had to call out these poor children's names to a packed waiting room of Shock faces.

I meet hundreds of children every day at work so have heard most others at least twice.

Catepillar - some of those names are terrible. Fine to be "different" but selfish to saddle a child with a name which is plainly foolish

Nike
Angel
Kobe

Some of these names have been mentioned already. I know a -

HazyShade the African language that uses clicks for some word sounds is Xhosa.

And as for Anakin Skylarker I can't decide if that's beyond awesome or dreadful! Hmm&Grin

Mine. It is an Indian name and the male version is popular (not 'John' or 'James' popular. According to ourbabynamer.com it is in the top 10000 for 2013. I think that is in America). There is no match for my name in that database.

I have never met another person with my name, and I don't know anyone who has, apart from my mum, who named me after a nurse she knew.

BettyMacdonald · 22/01/2014 10:15
