Fenton

Adolf, Beelezebub, Satan, Lucifer, Jezabel, Lolita.

Any drug including alcoholic drinks (I taught an Opium - just imagine what she was like, yep just like that).

Parents/grandparents names, personally don't like the Little Johnny Junior or Little Johnny II.

Jaykub. I kid you not - saw that one today.
Pretty much anything rhyming with Aiden, including Aiden.
Most surname names.
Ronald. I loved my Grandad but there is no way I would inflict this on a son now, HP notwithstanding. Just no.
Reginald, Harold, Horace, etc. ditto.
Kyle and any variation thereof. not keen on most mens' names that begin with a K, tbh. (Keith, Kevin etc.)

Barbara, Beryl, Ruby, Pearl, Eileen, Maureen, Noreen, Nolene, pretty much anything ending in -een and things that sound like -een, such as Christine. Tina, Joan, Gladys, Muriel, Mavis (am including many female relatives' names here! parents, grandparents, aunts and great aunts - it's not that I didn't like the people, just can't stand the names!) Vivienne, Valerie, Zoe, Sylvia, Donna, Sophie, Kayla.

Poppy: Nice meaning, but dissect it and it suddenly becomes weird.

Ruby, the Eve names, the Isabel names, the Ell names: Overused

Amelia/Amelie: Means "no limbs"

Callum: Horrible sound

Luke: As above

Luca: Girly

Aiden and all its rhyming names: Chavvy and overused

Any American-sounding names - surnames for girls, Brandon, Randy, Madison, etc.

Megan is a fabulous name. Wink

TheBigmouthBugle · 30/01/2012 08:53

Cheerful I think so too, some of the nicest people I know are called Megan Grin

( I'm HE btw )

CinnamonStar · 30/01/2012 09:06

I would say I wouldn't name my child most names.

Incidentally my grandfather was called Adolf, although he started going by his middle name in the 1930's Grin. In spite of that, he still wanted to give my poor uncle (born in 1942, in England!) Adolf as his middle name, because it was a family name! My uncle has always been very grateful to my granny for overruling him.

Whoo, Cinnamon - I'll bet! Very tricky name to have on your birth cert at that time, even only in the middle.

marshmallowpies · 30/01/2012 11:50

Samantha
Clare
Hayley
Lindsay
Hannah
Joanne
Sarah
Caroline
...all too 80's for me...so many of them around when I was growing up, they have just lodged in my brain as being 'boring' names and therefore untouchable.

Of course I have known people with these names who are lovely people and some of them I think are actually quite nice, but they are just too associated with my childhood for me to use them.

Same goes for boys names like Stephen, Simon, Paul, Mark etc.

LizzieChickens · 30/01/2012 13:16

Penelope, since 'Penny Ruddock' sounds like a Victorian prostitute.

smother · 30/01/2012 22:39

Charlotte
Sophie

TheGrandOldDuke · 31/01/2012 13:19

Find it weird so many people think this is a mean thread? Is it just embarrassment that you might have used a naff name?? Grin joke!!!!

insanityscratching · 31/01/2012 13:38

Samantha, Jessica, Leanne, Heidi, Lisa,Amanda, Julie for no reason other than I don't like them.

Finley, Harley, Connor, Callum, Archie, Alfie, Freddie, for the same reason.

PosieParker · 31/01/2012 13:45

Breaths sigh of relief, only one of my dcs middle names appear out of 8 names and he's named after someone so it doesn't count!! oops dd's name is on here so at least one poster is a fucknut!

I loathe boring names...
Daniel, Joshua, Spencer, Kai, Ty,

McKenzie, Freya (pet hate boring yawn name), Isabel, Annabel, Maya....

Loads more/.

Most of DH's suggestions, including, and not limited to, Bruce and Eric.

Ugh.
