Fenton

Adolf, Beelezebub, Satan, Lucifer, Jezabel, Lolita.

Any drug including alcoholic drinks (I taught an Opium - just imagine what she was like, yep just like that).

Parents/grandparents names, personally don't like the Little Johnny Junior or Little Johnny II.

Really planetpotty - I was hoping to name my future-yet-to-be-conceived DD Vagine-Fanjo. Do you think it would be a no-no then?

Actually, it'd probably be more widely accepted on MN than Poppy Grin.

WittyTitle · 29/01/2012 00:00

Can we call her vuhjayjay for short then? Grin

Im just waiting to see a post "what do you think of the name Canesten-May

WittyTitle · 29/01/2012 00:01

Incidentally Potty, thats the second time today ive seen the word Vagine used in a post non-chalently.....is it common on MN? Hmm

LineRunner · 29/01/2012 00:02

It's famed typo of vagina, Witty.

WittyTitle · 29/01/2012 00:06

I was worried it was to become a name, it has a french ring to it?

LineRunner · 29/01/2012 00:08

Yes, like Eugenie.

Princess Vagine. Rather magnificent. Tres Candide. Grin

oldsilver · 29/01/2012 00:31

Woo hoo, both my first and last name (although that was spelt incorrectly) and a bastardisation of DS's name is here ... mind you so has the whole of DS's school Reception and Year 1 classes Grin

Tis all personal taste init Smile

Littlepurpleprincess · 29/01/2012 11:54

McKenzie. 'Tis Chav-tastic.

DS name is on here, do I get some sort of award? Grin

kerala · 29/01/2012 15:05

Marie (name of bully at school)
Emma (DHs mysterious ex who he was with for years but has mysteriously disappeared)

Names that are ok but horribly overused rendering them tedious (Sophie, Eve, Amelie, Isabel/la et al)

amimagic · 29/01/2012 15:54

DDs name is Amelie. Someone delightfully shuddered at the thought upthread Hmm

Saying that it's horribly overused though certainly doesn't apply round here. Large numbers of people have never heard of it!

(I have wanted to use the name since reading Wide Sargasso Sea for A-level 20 years ago. Amelie was a horrible character but I thought the name was fab)

amimagic · 29/01/2012 15:56

Oh, and I meant to say that I think this thread's really mean and unkind.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/01/2012 16:13

I really, really don't 'get' that it's 'unkind' to say whether you like particular names or not. They are just the opinions of strangers. You like your daughter's name so why on earth does it matter to you if some random person on the web says they dislike it?

I remember somebody on MN getting really, really sniffy when I said that I hated a certain writer, who she happened to love. If people are so insecure in their opinions that they feel that the whole world and his dog must share them, that's quite odd imho.

LineRunner · 29/01/2012 16:57

There is a little bit of humourlessness on here, but that's be the Barry Manilow fans.

exoticfruits · 29/01/2012 17:01

I don't think it is mean and unkind. People find mine dull and boring-I'm quite pleased because if they liked them there would be far too many around! DH and I liked them-I really couldn't care less for opinions of people that I haven't met.

CarrieAnnRegardless · 29/01/2012 17:12

Nancy, Tabitha, Martha.

Because he is a boy.
Otherwise I would call him nancy like a shot.

AngiBolen · 29/01/2012 18:24

Barry.

ThePoorMansBeckySharp · 29/01/2012 19:22

If you think this kind of thread is so awful, don't read it. problem solved!

exoticfruits · 29/01/2012 19:25

You can let off steam. If someone in RL tells me they are calling their DC Ivy, or Ronnie, I have to smile and say something pleasant-on here I can say they are both dire! Why anyone who likes them should care too hoots what I say I can't imagine! I love James and Elizabeth as names-whatever people say about boring and lacking imagination etc- I still love them as names.

Blu · 29/01/2012 19:26

Not quite, PoorMan.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/01/2012 19:31

Barry Manilow has FANS?!!!

WittyTitle · 29/01/2012 20:00

Lmao remus and there is the shock of the weekend, i would refer to them as victims personally...

I think MN bingo would be a hit, however I feel I would be waiting a while for a full house with Taregan, Kanti and H'kiim Grin

LineRunner · 29/01/2012 23:37

Yes, Barry Manilow has fans a-plenty. And a tight little face. Fucking slack arse, though.

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 30/01/2012 00:58

DS's name has appeared twice on this thread - not in the least surprised as it is very unfashionable at the moment. But by the time he hits his prime in his 20s/30s, it will be fresh-sounding and un-dated, so I'm fine with it.

Oh, there's loads of names I dislike...

Off the top of my head...

I really, irrationally dislike Harvey for some reason (makes me think of the flabby, overweight uber-belcher in The Simpsons), Archie, Alfie, Ethan, Mark, Dave, Jayden, Kayden, Kai, Russell, Alan, Terence, Ryan, Kevin, Dylan, Rhys

Florence, Beatrice, Ruby, Daisy, Poppy, Evie, Scarlett, Esmé pronounced Es-mee, Thea, all V names except for Vivienne, all K names except for Kate, Alicia and all its variations, Tallulah, Lola and all the stripper names, Madison, Georgia or even worse: Jorga, Libby as a nickname for Elizabeth, -een ending names - Charleen, Maureen, Doreen, Darleen. And Rose, May and Mae as middle names - yawn.

That'll do for now...

TheBigmouthBugle · 30/01/2012 01:09

Norman. I can't imagine looking at a baby and thinking "aww Norman, you're so cute"

TheBigmouthBugle · 30/01/2012 01:11

Oh and Carl/Karl cos I can't say it properly - sounds like Cal or Carol.
