Crocheters what are you making? Im currently making a bobble hat for my 2 year old, might do a little matching shawl/scarf after.
I normally make amigurumi.

@septemberclouds it is acrylic yarn, i have used a lighter to tidy up the frizz, i don’t do that on teddies as it makes the yarn stiff and sort of crispy feeling? But looks great for decoration/figures that aren’t going to be cuddled lol.

I’ve been travelling for work recently so have mainly been making small, easily portable items that I can do on planes or in airports/hotel rooms when I have minutes to spare.

I'm making an octagon cardigan. Shaped like a hexicardi but it's made in one piece. The only sewing is a tiny bit up the sleeve!

This is a pic from last week. It's almost finished now!

@NorthEastNancy do you have a link for the pattern? I am very excited about there being not much sewing!! Or tails??

TonTonMacoute · 20/10/2026 11:07

I have been a long-term knitter but never got into crochet at all, until recently. There are some fantastic designers out there on the internet which has inspired me to start. In the meantime I'm getting to grips with turning chains, half triple crochets and all the rest.

DS had a GF at university, and for his birthday she crocheted him a baby Yoda in a little bed!

when you’re making a doll, if you’re supposed to stuff the head and then carry on crocheting the body onto the head, how do you do that?

sorry for the dumb question!!

Can you add a picture? Can stuff the head lightly then carry on crocheting from the stitches at the bottom of the head. The stuffing shouldn't get in the way.

septemberclouds · 20/10/2026 13:55

Do you sew the head together, then stuff it and then carry on crocheting but it’s not flat anymore?

I stuff lightly so there’s still a little give around the edge I’m attaching to the body, it makes it less clunky and weird to hold and work with. Then before I’ve fully finished the round, while there’s still a bit of a hole I finish stuffing the head so it’s as firm as I need it to be then finish attaching the rest of the head.

i generally either use a slip stitch so it’s just attaching not adding more rows or just fasten off, leave a long tail and use the tail and a darning needle to stitch the head on.

Ok so the pattern i have used for the nativity i crochet the head. Decrease down to the beginning mr stitches so 8sc in this case, don’t fasten off, stuff the head and then using front loop only 2sc in each front loop around and carry on as normal with the body, i hate sewing so i try to do it all in one lol hope this make sense.
using just the front loops is A) they are easier to get to after stuffing and B) adds a better definition to the “neck” crease.

I am loving everyone’s pictures of their crochets! All look amazing 🤩, definitely giving me some inspiration for future projects.
i have finished the nativity and have decided to crochet a stable 🤔 i will be making it up as i go so 🤷🏻‍♀️ dunno how well its going to turn out.
My friend has asked if i can crochet some GOT characters for her like the nativity so that is my next project i guess 😂.

it took a few practice swatches to get it right, but once you’ve got the hang of it it’s pretty easy. It makes a very warm blanket as you effectively have two layers of yarn

Yarnandahook · 22/10/2026 18:22

I'm just starting a scarf with some ombre yarn I bought in Aldi. I'm experimenting with a new stitch, which is turning out rather 3d so I think it's going to be rather chunky!

You are all so clever and creative! I’d love to learn. Any top tips to get me started? Online or book? What would I need to buy? Should I look for a class? TIA

I learned from YouTube. There are lots of excellent tutorials. You can slow the playback speed and do it as you watch.
The little toys are fantastic but I would start with something bigger. Tiny stitches and small hooks are harder.
I'd start with a size 4/5 hook and some DK wool. I find cotton much harder to crochet with than acrylic.

That’s the sort of project I always think that I would love to do - but the truth is I am too impatient!

Finished the chicken, a mascot for a cosplay group this weekend! It’s another ‘figured it out as I went’ make, I couldn’t find a pattern I liked so just bodged it!

Adorable!!

So I’ve finished the squares and laid them out, very happy with it! Just have to figure out what colour to use to join them. I’ll crochet the squares together because I hate sewing!

suggestions welcome;

Ahh, now this is my kinda project! Do you have a pattern or a link?

Love the colours!

I’ve made a few of these. Rather than sew up the sleeve, on the last round that includes the sleeves I alternate sides so that I granny into the chain space on one side and then the chain space on the other side. Anything to avoid sewing up 🤣 Well, not quite. There’s also a purpose to that technique: it leaves a flatter, stretchier, virtually invisible seam.

Thanks so much. I love the blankets made of squares. Is this a realistic first project?
