That is stunning @Toodarktooearly ! I’d never have the patience to try something like this 😊

I agree, it's beautiful, but so many ends to weave in!

Ahh, now this is my kinda project! Do you have a pattern or a link?

Love the colours!

Thank you! I used several tutorials on YouTube to make the different squares. I did link to them on an earlier reply, you should be able to search in the thread.

I use the standing start and invisible join so every row ends get sewn in. Still leaves a lot but I find it quite relaxing tbh

I made a Persian Tiles blanket (single bed size) a few years ago. Surprisingly, also being an impatient crafter, I absolutely loved making it. I made 15 octagons, so I did each row 15 times before moving on to the next row. It got me into a really satisfying rhythm and I soon learned to do each row by heart.

I don’t know the names of the techniques you listed, but I also worked each tail in as I went along, so there was very little sewing-in to do at the end.

I want to make another one in slightly finer, perhaps variegated yarn, but I haven’t found the right yarn yet.

Give it a try!

I made myself a wrist warmer last night. I'll do the other one today. Photo in the next post...

Beautiful!!

What colour scheme did you use?

Littlegreywolfcub · Yesterday 07:41

oops sorry just read you had put colourway fur 😁

I'm just stitching an odds and ends blanket up! Im not buying anything until I have used up my stash!!

NeededANameChangeAnyway · Yesterday 16:21

Unfortunately I have used up all the thick wool so not sure what to do for the edging.... Several of the squares are multi strands so that's probably going to have to be the way forward!!

Definitely mix two finer yarns together to make the edging, not only will this help use up the finer yarn in your stash, but if you combine different colours in the edging it’ll bring all the different colours of the squares together.

I think the colour way is Eastern Jewels.

Hey, just a heads up I recently bought a pattern on etsy to make this highland cow to make for my BIL to gift to his nan, it is fake, i didn’t even need to start making it, i just read the pattern and knew it would not make what was in the picture, i contacted the seller and they wouldn’t admit it was fake but they also didn’t deny it and are refusing to refund.

What type of hooks people are using for finer work? The smallest I've used is 4mm and just have a metal hook. I'm going to attempt something using a 2mm hook and wondering if I should get one of those ergonomic ones with the thicker, plastic handle?

I realise its likely trial and error, but are there any pros/cons of either choice?

Yes, for anything more than a repair, it’s easier to have chunkier handles, and definitely for anything smaller than a 2 or a 3

The rise of ai patterns makes me really angry. Pinterest is full of them, and Etsy. It’s so infuriating.

I like the ones with the metal hook and the thicker silicone handle. Find them easier to keep a grip on. I use 2mm and 2.5mm a lot with smaller amiguri.

Definitely get chunky handled hooks, or get the foam slip on handles to make grip easier

5289843DM · Today 16:09

Thanks everyone re the chunky hooks. Maybe they are silicone, not plastic as I assumed. A foam slip to cover the handle sounds a good idea too considering I already own various sizes of hooks.
