morning all, today I have set myself the challenges of

uploading items to Etsy shop
ordering toggle clasps
painting as I haven't got any toggles to do any beading
finish off the bit of knitting I have been ignoring (its only a java jacket very easy but I jsut keep setting it aside)
oh and work on the kitchen swap and the russian dolls swap

I think I'm dreaming

Tillyboo · 13/06/2008 09:01

Morning to ...

We are off to Hobbycraft today as apparantly dd needs some yellow paint .
I need a few bits too so we'll have a mooch about and see what we find.

I have an idea for a new piece of textile art that I can't wait to get cracking on. I bought some duck egg blue linen type fabric a little while ago and have been a tad confuddled as to what to use it for but I had a lightbulb moment in bed this morning !

Have a nice day all

meridian · 13/06/2008 10:02

meridian · 13/06/2008 14:21

Have blogged a painted page of a bunny
and been messing around opening a flickr account... not sure I totally have my head around it yet... I have uploaded another painted page that is for the pink petal designs kitchen swap... the painting is here can i have your opinions please... pretty please with a cherry on top... Its supposed to be something useful, I have this idea of getting one of those wooden spoons and painting the end of the handle.. or does that sound lame?

incywincysam · 13/06/2008 18:55

Hi meridian - could you not use one of your tea cup painting and decoupage it onto a wooden spoon handle. Then varnish it maybe??

Just an idea
x

Nbg · 13/06/2008 19:06

Meri thank for sharing the Tzasiki recipe.
I love it.
Going to try it next week

I've had another freecycle winner.
I put on a post asking for any embroidery bits and a lady who lives just around the corner has said that although she cannot give me any of her stuff, I can borrow it anytime
Whats even better is that her mum lives on the road next to our house so she dropped in a couple of embroidery hoops this afternoon.
How nice is that!

She said she has a city and guilds jobby in embroidery and design and blurted out all these things she has and what she does.
My mouth was on the floor when she'd finished.

Oh and she also said I could borrow her embroidery machine too
I'm definately going to put aside some learning time when I get all these swaps and orders out the way.

meridian · 13/06/2008 19:31

incywincy- um. don't actually know houw to decopage. but thank you... my swap partner did say she liked my pages as they are so definitly wanted to send a painted page, but just not sure about the "useful item" bit... I may need to think about it a bit more... perhaps I can jsut send her a cake?

Nbg- thanks.. hope you enjoy the recipe.. I will probably be making it again next week to as I have feta cheese to use up. Fab free cycleing... I really must get on there some time... need to get rid of our rocking chair and rocking foot rest... the cover needs replacing and won't have space for it in the new house if we get it..

Nbg · 13/06/2008 19:48

Oh deffo get on.
Its amazing what some people get rid of and its so nice to see what a lovely community you have around you.

If I were near you I'd snap that chair and stool up

Dior- the card is lovely, and the jewellery too!

hey I got 56 views on the poison apple tree no sales but I only uploaded it to etsy yesterday lunchtime..

Nbg · 14/06/2008 08:21

Blimey that is good Meri.

I bought my first item off Etsy this week.
A gorgeous little tutu for a friends baby's chritening present.
I thought it was a bit different and she'll be able to keep it.
No doubt they'll be inundated with cutlery and crockery sets like us

My ring is also starting its life today I think
Can't wait to get hold of it!

Last night I drew my designs for the russian doll swap.
Dh was on nights last night so I'm prisoned in the front room with the kids but I might be able to make a start on it.

lucykate · 14/06/2008 20:54

hi everyone, dh is going down to london the week after next with the students for a show, they needed 2 large screens to play a showreel on, so he had to buy (through the college) 2, 46" ones which came to our house today. obviously, dh had to get one out the box and make sure it worked , so our tv, which isn't exactly small (32") is in the spare room, and i have a 46" tv in the sitting room until next sunday, it's massive!!!. i can't look at the whole screen in one go, it's just too big, men eh?!

incywincysam · 14/06/2008 22:36

Lol lucykate
My dh quite often brings home the projector from school to play his silly ps2 games onto the living room wall!!

Meri - your apple tree is gorgeous!

lucykate · 14/06/2008 23:21

do they not know size doesn't matter?

meridian · 15/06/2008 06:57

LK- can we all come over for movie night? who has the popcorn

incywincy- thank you.. its one of my favorites too!

meridian · 15/06/2008 07:03

have you fabric-o-philes see this
Emily is on about it at the black apple so must be good... to custom your own fabrics... if only I could sew how cool would that be to have your own fabric made from your doodles?

vInTaGeVioLeT · 15/06/2008 10:04

i've just spent ages looking at that spoonflower stuff it's great isn't it?
i woudn't be able to design a fabric[not very good at drawing] but it's a great idea.

misty have emailed you.

Dior - when you attach several threads of beads to the toggle - how do you do it?
I usually use Beadalon when stringing but it tends to be too thick to secure several strands together unless I feed all the ends into a cone as with my multi strand necklaces.

Nbg · 15/06/2008 15:05

I've subscribed to Spoonflower
Will just have to wait for my invite!

Dior, the bracelet looks intriguing.
I think you should do a range of bridal jewellery because alot of what you do reminds me of that kind of thing. Its the colours you use.
Especially the last necklace that you have done would be lovely on bridesmaids.

LK, I'm at the size of that tv.
That is a beast of a screen!
I agree with Meri, I think we should all bombard you for a film and munchies

Done absoluely bugger all up until today where I've got my crafty head back on.
I've cut out all my bits for the russian doll swap.
I wish I could show you all. I'm so excited about it.
I've also nearly finished my commisions but I ran out of stuffing so I'm waiting on a kilo of the stuff to be delivered sometime this week.

meridian · 15/06/2008 15:44

forgot to say I posted a few bits I painted this morning... here

went to the bead shop yetserday and got two lovely focal beads, i don't think i will do anything with them today .. having totally crap day.. on the "unreasonable section" so i have lost the plot entirly today..

Dingle · 15/06/2008 19:20

Hi ladies, just had a quick look at the last couple of posts and links, some great crafting going on as usual.

Crafting is still a bit hit and miss with me but I am trying so hard to find a little time each week. In a funny mood today as my Uncle died in the early hours this morning. He had been fighting cancer for a few years and it was almost a relief for him to go! What an awful day for my poor cousins though, certainly a Father's Day to remember! Got some very difficult cards to add to my to do list this week- how can you create so much emotion on a piece of card?

Anyway I have manged 2 Christmas cards this week....blogged a bit of news about a little Design Team success and of course Father's day card for my dad.

The hopeless crafty life of Dilly Dally Dingle!!

Hi everyone - some lovely stuff going on - I have hopped to blogs and left comments.

Dingle good to "see" you. Sorry to hear about your uncle. My mum died of cancer some years ago and I know exactly what you mean about that sense of relief. There certainly comes a time when you really do not want dear ones to suffer through it any longer. It doesn't make it much easier once they are gone though. Good luck with making those cards. I am sure you'll do a lovely, sensitive, job.

We had DD1's sixth birthday this weekend. O it was just wonderful. She is so grown up now and great fun (though still a major pita in many ways!) SHe LOVED her sewing kit - I was almost in tears. SHe must have spent an hour going through all the bits and pieces in a state of total wonderment. SHe is so proud of it and made sure she put everything back in safely. I think she will take good care of it. The only potential drawback was that now she has a sewing kit like mummy she wants a craftroom like me too. I told her we can share My dad phoned to wish her happy birthday and she was equally excited telling him about her scalextric mini-cooper set and het sewing kit all in one breath so I know it was a hit!

I've http://overmilkwood.blogspot.com blogged the doll I got from ravenhill in NBG's swap, as well as the one I made and my Functional felt goodies - I LOVE swaps... will blog the sewing kit during the week when I find the lost cable to connect the camera to the laptop ...
