OP posts:
vInTaGeVioLeT · 16/06/2008 18:42

Nbg - i'm in no position to stare!
i am in no way a "normal" person myself!!!

and i can totally understand you Misty - you have a hard decision to make there are so many things to weigh up when you have to work when you have kids - that is why i'm a c/minder but i don't make a living from it - just enough to keep me in buttons and russian dolls and other weird stuff i can't live without. I'm very lucky that my{very tolerant} dp has a good[ish] job and we aren't big spenders really.

meridian · 16/06/2008 18:54

NBG- is anyone really normal these days? I have to be hosnest suffered from bouts of depression since I was a teen.. undiagnosed obviouslyl,, no insurance no treatment while living in the US, and the worst it got was 2 years ago when I was stressed and eventually my world cracked a bit and I was on ADs for a year... I wouldn't say I'm normal by any stretch... but whos to say normal would be any more fun... I have awful self worth and self esteem issues.. probably most people do, I have always been shy and somewhat anti-social... oh and my parents are crazy... I mean really nuts... my dad collects clocks and fixes them.. wind up old key clocks... there wre 42 at last count.. all chiming and dinging and birdies tweating at almost the same time..he is also an insomniac.. . my mother is narcolept (sp?) so my dad dosent sleep and my mother sleeps all day ...thats just the tip really.. its a wonder I'm as almost normal as I am.. ..

big hugs.. and am glad you liked my recipe... please send me yours would love to read it and try it!

might have gone a bit overboard with this post...

Nbg · 16/06/2008 18:59

Now actually that is interesting about your dad Meri.
I have an old wooden art deco clock that I rescued from a charity shop but it doesnt work. It will chime but thats it.
Shame he's in the US otherwise I'd have been getting you to ask him to fix it

When all is quiet here I will email you the recipe.

JackBlackRoady · 16/06/2008 20:38

hi again girls,
thinking of you Nbg, misty and Dingle, hope things improve soon - {{{hugs}}}
I'm still feeling the baby blues, 9 weeks after DD's birth - hoping it will go soon, so feel for you all.
I log on and read blogs when i am breastfeeding - often don't comment, as I am rubbish at typing and feeding, but you are all so proficent!

Anybody know what has happened to GreebosWhiskers? I have her swap from 2 months ago here...

JackBlackRoady · 16/06/2008 20:39

PS thank you for the lovely 'welcome back' messages !

vInTaGeVioLeT · 16/06/2008 21:05

hi jackblack - do you need greebos address? i can email it to you if you like
really pleased to hear your breastfeeding - how is baby?

Tillyboo · 16/06/2008 21:46

Sorry to hear some ladies are feeling a bit down, I hope things get cheerier for you all.
My sis suffers with depression and if I hadn't seen it first hand I wouldn't have realised what it can do to people.
It's a terrible thing to have to deal with as it's often totally out of your control.

Dior - I'm so glad your mum loved her cushion !

I have blogged a little custom order tonight but not much else achieved this week

Anyone watching Mary Queen Of Shops ?

vInTaGeVioLeT · 16/06/2008 22:27

oh dear i've "accidentally" got drunk and now i'm bored where is everyone?

slur . . . slur... "i love ya" . . . "i love ya all" . . . . .

mistypeaks · 17/06/2008 08:52

Good to see you've taken up my mantle as resident lush, Vintage!!
Had a heart to heart with boss last night. He was lovely. He doesn't want me to go, so I'm not. I've only got to wait until Sept and the dd1 will be having more hours at pre-school and dd2 starts at pre-school so I'll have some breathing space. I can make better judgements etc then I think. He's going to get me on the management course and is looking to change my job in the interim to a better one, so he's trying. He said he doesn't think I'm a flake, just stressed. He's made me promise to go and talk to him next time rather than "sulking" and trying to wrestle too much on my own. I thought he was going to hug me at one point .
I've got a slightly more craftable head on now so I may produce something today.
Must go and reply to some emails now.
Thanks for the kind words from you lot girls. I had a thought though . . . seeing as we all craft etc that makes us 'artistic' types. They are always the ones who tend to suffer from 'depressions' and to much inward thinking. I am now going to wear it with pride. "'Tis because I have an artistic temperament don't you know )

I should have said last night, thank you for all your lovely words.
Sadly depression, anxiety etc is more common than alot of us think and whats worse is that to the help sometimes just isnt accessable to some.
I consider myself one of the lucky ones.

Tilly, I love Mary queen of shops. She has my ideal job.
I used to love window dressing and stuff like that (see my arty side coming out again).
I watched my child wont eat instead last night.

I've been on a thread helping a lady who wants to start up a jewellery business and got her to have a look at Etsy. A few other people were interested too so I've linked everyones etsy shops for them to look at.

mistypeaks · 17/06/2008 10:31

I know she's clever isn't she. And she was all concerned that it wouldn't be good enough and I was going to be sending something much better than hers!! PMSL!!!

mistypeaks · 17/06/2008 10:38

I need to go and find another swap now. Get the old creative juices flowing . . .

Nbg · 17/06/2008 10:39

Well if you find one misty, do not post about it where I can see.

I ahve far too much to finish before I take on anything else.

Although I really really want to

ranting · 17/06/2008 11:01

Stare!!!. I am in no position to stare Nbg, my hair is orange!!

I empathise, I have in the past suffered with awful depression too, couldn't get out of bed, felt like limbs were filled with lead etc. Am very lucky, have not suffered for some years and I think the crafting does help, I am much sunnier when I am crafting, am naturally a bit of a miserable cow though. I have one of those faces that people say 'cheer up love' too!

Nbg · 17/06/2008 11:03

lol

When can we see your hair?!
Come on and get a picture on

ranting · 17/06/2008 11:08

I will, I promise, as soon as I get my hayfever under control, no way am I posting a pic with orange hair and rudolph nose, just wouldn't do my new image justice

Can't decide what to make.

  1. A new knitted bag
  2. A cuddly spider for dd2 (she is spider mad)
  3. A pink rabbit at the request of dd1.
  4. Something I've been thinking about, but I think it may come up as a swap soon. . . I'm spending too much time thinking and not enough time doing (story of my life)

Yup. She's a little teeny weeny dot of a 2 yr old, looks like a china doll. . . . but chases around the garden after spiders. Regulary brings them in for me. Any manner of bug she has to pick it up and have it crawling over her arms and hands!!! Her favourite nursery rhyme is Incey Wincey Spider (has been since she was born, it was the only thing to stop her crying).
DD1 on the other hand, runs for the hills like the little princess she is!!

Nbg · 17/06/2008 11:22

We can be too much thinking sister then misty.
Thats half my problem too.

On Saturday I bought 50 different colours of embroidery thread for £4.99 and they've just arrived.
They are fab!

mistypeaks · 17/06/2008 11:23

Oh yeah that's reminded me. If any of you jewellery types ever see a little silver charm in the shape of a spider, please let me know. I need one for her charm bracelet.
