vInTaGeVioLeT · 15/06/2008 23:04

nice new machine whoops such a shame the old one wouldn't behave as it's lovely looking! ooohhhh . . . . is it peppa & george?

jeangenie glad your dd had a great 6th birthday and that you enjoyed it so much too!
i find my dd's birthdays stressfull - too much expectation - i think i went too overboard with stuff when she was tiny - you only need to do something once for it to become a tradition in her eyes!

we had a fantastic day today - ds son woke us at 7.3o ish brought his father's day card(s) and presents up and then explained the pictures/designs to dp {brought a lump to my throat as there was real method to the madness that is ds's art!!} i got up so dp could get a lie-in then we took a pic-nic to park/paddling pool spent a couple hours in the glorious sun then went home collected dog and went to the beach to build sandcastles/dig holes/bury each other - oh how i do love living here!!! i just cant imagine living somewhere landlocked i need the sea!

jeangenie · 15/06/2008 23:54

ps VV meant to say she loved the buttons and other goodies you sent - thanks again

oh, and I went off and bought inks and embossing powders, nearly set the kitchen alight heating them over the toaster (DH is still wondering what the smell was!) but they still didn't turn out like yours...I must have done something wrong - will try again though

your day sounds perfect - mine was a bit hungover after the "after party" for DD1's birthday yesterday (it's a little tradition she insists on - a woman after her mother's heart in more ways than one then!) but we did have a lovely day...some friends stayed over last night and so we hung out with them and had big breakfast and did the park and played with DD1's amazing birthday gifts (she got some lovely crafty things from her friends who obviously know her quite well by now)

right, off to bed - gotta go to work tomorrow...

Nbg · 16/06/2008 08:56

Ahhh Vintage, sounds like a lovely day.
The beach is a pretty good place to be, I'd have to agree with you there.

JG, the doll you got is brilliant and I loved the one you sent to Emily with the little books.
I must go and add them to flickr.

I'm still waiting for my doll but my swap partner has had alot on atm.

Dingle, sorry to hear about your uncle
Very sad.

I didnt get much sleep last night. Ds2 has yet another cough so he was up alot, dd complained of a stomach ache when she went to bed and then woke up at half 4 throwing up again. She must have a bug that she cant get rid of.
So now I'm up with ds1 and 2 while dh and dd are asleep.
I've also got my first CBT session this morning [worried emoticon]
Please think of me at 10:30

mistypeaks · 16/06/2008 09:07

Haven't been up to much. Other than soul-searching/tearing hair out. I've applied for a transfer from work to come off nights and go onto days. (I'm after a 8/9 - 2pm shift so I can still be a bit of a mom!). Its taken a long time to come to the conclusion, but I need more than the job gives me, the kids now need more than I give them, Me and DH need time together and evenings free to do seperate stuff. So now its how many hours do I need to work to bring home the same amount as I earn now (taking out childcare). Where do I put them? Nursery/Childminder? My head may explode so I can't even contemplate crafting at the moment. To be honest I'm a bit lost.
Vintage - I got your E-mail. I've seen the ones I like and I will get back to you I promise, but at the moment I'm too overwhelmed.
Some lovely things going on ladies.

Morning all.

Dingle, sorry to hear your news.
Jg, sounds like a great bday party for your dd, glad I am not the only one with a dd who collects buttons, she has two tins!! We pick up a lot of ours from the Salvation Army shop in Hitchin, which has the BEST button collection this side of the thames (with the exception of VV of course), I swear they employ someone to go round cutting buttons off random jumpers, they even meticulously card them.

Misty, I hope the job swap goes well, I used to do nights when I was single and before I had dcs and I hated them. Used to feel like I was inhabiting some weird hinterland.

Have picked up my crafting, have finished MILs bag and am going to have another look for hair instructions for doll, (have to blog the bag) AND I got my stitchcraft mags from Ebay at the weekend, 21 of them. I love them, they are full of 'gay pullovers for that popular look' and 'toys to knit and novelties in felt', there was only one that I already have, so am quite pleased with myself. Have added to my growing collection.

jeangenie · 16/06/2008 10:53

hey ranting - meant to say I can't waitto see your new hairdo - it sounds fab!

ranting · 16/06/2008 10:57

Why thank you, am still pleased with it, although my 'friend' reckons I should have had highlights!

Took dd to the hairdressers on Saturday and the owner came up to tell me how much he loved it and one of the staff decided that she loved it soo much that she dyed hers the same colour!!

!!!

Nbg · 16/06/2008 11:36

Had to cancel session cos ds1 threw up everywhere and now I feel crap.

It never bloody rains here

mistypeaks · 16/06/2008 12:05

Oh NBG . Its annoying isn't it. These things always seem to happen at once. That kind of all or nothing terribleness is what led me to ask for the transfer at work. 2 weeks of half term from pre-school, then 2 weeks of PILS not being able to take little ones on the one afternoon a week (which I rely on to catch a breath/sleep/haircuts etc) DH being in Denmark with week, missing out on a training course at work because of it (they want to make me acting manager) Lack of sleep and being generally upset made me make a rash decision. For all I said earlier (and as much of a pita night shifts are) I'm not sure I want to go full time days. I would have to do some pretty harsh hours to make the kind of money i'm on now and I think ultimately I'll lose out. I spent all morning trawling internet re: salaries, jobs that are available, tax credits, childcare vouchers etc and I just don't think its workable. I think I may need to have a long chat with my boss tonight and be totally honest and frank and see if he wants to keep me still. He probably will think I'm a right flake!!
Sorry I know this isn't the place to discuss all this, but I really don't like taking these things to the 'main board' I think you lot know me a bit better and you are certainly a lot kinder .
Dingle - I'm so sorry I missed your post in my self absorbdedness earlier. Sorry to hear your bad news. I feel awful for going on about my stuff now.
Some good news . . . I got my toadstool swap. It's gorgeous. Will try and blog it later.
Will go away now and stop being a whingey puss!!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 16/06/2008 14:30

oh dear Misty it all sounds a bit stressy and confusing

jeangenie - glad dd liked her stuff - wonder what has gone wrong with embossing? maybe you are doing it to close and burning the powder? did you get clear powder?

nbg - hope kids are better soon. What is CBT?

Nbg · 16/06/2008 14:37

CBT is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

Basically I'm a raving loon

vInTaGeVioLeT · 16/06/2008 14:43

i'm still none the wiser!!
is it for ocd? my dd has that.

Nbg · 16/06/2008 15:26

No not OCD.
I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks and I have a phobia of medical things so I cant get myself to the Dr's and stuff like that.
I also have a fear that I will pass out but really all it is, is me getting anxious and I worry about the physical symptoms it brings.

You can all stare at me like a freak show thing now

jeangenie · 16/06/2008 15:46

oh poor you NBG - that sounds rotten. Have you tried medication for the anxiety/panic attacks at all? I know citalopram is supposed to be great on a low dose for that kind of thing...

my sister used to get awful panic attacks, so bad she couldn't drive the car - it all sounds horrible. CBT is supposed to be really good for stuff like that though, shame you couldn't get to the appointment. Will you be able to get another soon?

Big Hug from one raving loon to another

Nbg · 16/06/2008 15:53

I have been on Citalopram for nearly 2 years now.
I started on 20mg but it made me sick so they lowered it to 10mg. Tbh I dont think it makes much difference if at all.

I struggle to leave the house and really it has got to the point where it needs sorting out once and for all.
I'm very lucky really in that my dh spoke to a non resident gp about it at our surgery back in March who actually did something about it and refered me for some help.
Now I have my own CPN who comes to the house and does my CBT sessions and I also have a support worker who I have to go out and meet in different locations on my own.

They reckon though between them that they will have this all under control and me in a better place in a couple of months

jeangenie · 16/06/2008 16:00

awh that's really hard - well I hope that the CBT is helping and that it does get turned around in a few months. Your DH sounds lovely btw

Nbg · 16/06/2008 16:20

They have told me that this is controlable without drugs but to keep at the Citalopram for now as it may just be keeping some symptoms at bay.

I agree though Dior, crafting does help.
I was very bad after I had ds1. I couldnt bear to be in the house on my own so I wish I had got back into crafting then really.
The house isnt the issue anymore, its getting out.

If only there were such a thing as a mobile sewing machine

mistypeaks · 16/06/2008 16:42

I'm a raving loon too if it helps!!! Even worse than you in as much as i don't actually have any medical basis for it. I'm just a miserable moody cow who makes things worse than they are. Look at me getting stupidly upset over a job!!! I struggle to get out of the house at times, because I'm too bone idle to get out of my pjs and brush my hair!!
I hope the CBT helps. Anxiety and panic attacks are awful, my mom suffered really badly for a while after a horrific incident where she used to work. She was on ADs for a while. She's fine now if that helps.

Nbg · 16/06/2008 18:16

FWIW misty, that is something to get worked up over.
Its a big decision to make and something you have to weigh up for many reasons.

My mum has suffered with it too, had CBT and she is ok now.
I did start CBT myself over a year ago but it was at the GP surgery and I found it made things worse having to go there.

But anyway, the ball is rolling now and hopefully things will start to get easier.

Meridian, I've just made your Chicken recipe from your blog and it was lush.
I am no longer a creme fraiche virgin
I also have a recipe for you called Chicken Zorba and I think you and your tribe will love it.
