HouseAnxiety - try pinterest for ideas? what sort of christmasy bits are you thinking? decorations? table cloths/blankets? bunting?

MyIronLung · 22/11/2015 18:19

I'm making a quilt (finally got round to quilting it...it's been sat on my table for months Hmm), a couple of bionic gear bags have been cut ready to sew, knitting a hat for myself and I've got a fab pj pattern that I want to try (the only problem being lack of time and money for beautiful beautiful fabric).

PlaymobilPirate · 22/11/2015 18:20

I'm making a beard hat for my friend's little boy - I bought loads of Arran when Aldi had it in so need to use it up :)

I NEED a time turner! (Preferably a real one if you can manage that gem ?)

PlaymobilPirate · 22/11/2015 18:41

whilst I'm here - do any of you crafters have a yarn winder? Almost bought one today - wondered if they were any good?

Jon but I covet one playmobil, along with a bobbin winder machine and an overlocker.

MyIronLung · 22/11/2015 18:51

Jon = No!

PlaymobilPirate · 22/11/2015 18:53

saw some online for a tenner - just wondered whether they were useful or a bit gimmicky!

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 22/11/2015 19:01

I used to have one. It was fun to use but I didn't use that much skeined yarn so I gave it to a friend who seemed to knit with little but!

If I want to rewind a ball I make a rather beat 'cake' shape when I wind so I'm not that fussed by not having a winder:o

lucysmam · 22/11/2015 19:25

IronLung, you do NOT want an overlocker. I hate mine. It's a fussy, temperamental fucker at the best of times Hmm

I have made some mini Christmas bunting to hang in my kitchen and I'm currently knitting a bonnet/cardigan set for my great niece's dolly for Christmas

KinkyDorito · 22/11/2015 20:09

Big square crochet blanket for a gift.

Finally finished the blanket I've been faffing about with for over a year too. I'm very productive atm.

KinkyDorito · 22/11/2015 20:25

Still growing the granny square in purple/pink. Hopefully will get done soon.

This blanket, been working on it for a year Grin

I was stupid and did a chain of over 300 so it's long and taking forever.

This is the pattern

There are some very talented people here! I am not crafty at all, so can only make blankets.

Adarajames · 22/11/2015 21:23

thanks Smile

Lucysmam - fiddly rather than difficult, it's made from lots of 10 / 20 / 30mm bits of individually cut glass, put together with tweezers and temp glue, before firing up to 820C over about 11 hours. So yim consuming too, but fun in an obsessive way!
Have done few more designs too, hoping to sell enough to afford another glass class next term!

lucysmam · 22/11/2015 21:43

Oh, interesting! Do you do the firing yourself too?

OP posts:
Adarajames · 22/11/2015 21:56

For small things yes, have a mini kiln at home; make bigger things at adult education class, hence selling things to afford To access bigger kiln

This approx 20cm fused, sandblasted and slumped plate I did at class
