I've just learned to crochet and I am doing some squares for Woolly Hugs and a blanket that is one huge granny square. That looks great but I'm not sure I know how to finish it. It's also square which isn't that practical for a sofa blanket. Any suggestions?

I also want to crochet a christmas tree but I can't find a decent pattern.

sooperdooper · 16/11/2015 12:46

I'm making a corner to corner crochet blanket with all my oddments if yarn and I'm also making some amigarumi Christmas mice :)

lucysmam · 16/11/2015 12:50

Ooh, thanks for sharing pics!

Love the snowflakes...might add to my 'if I ever get time' list Grin.

I seem to have rather massively over-estimated how much fabric I needed Hmm. Have about 1.5m of royal blue cotton left so far...

SergeantAngua that's amazing! I can't cross stitch for toffee as I've not the patience, but that's almost worth learning for!

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 16/11/2015 12:51

House scarf in progress!

I've started a scarf for DH, got a temperature blanket on the go and I'm working on some snowflakes and Christmas trees that are going to be put together as Christmas bunting. All crochet.
I'm also waiting for some t-shirt yarn to arrive so I can make a nice big basket to put blankets in.

LittleMissAIBU · 16/11/2015 13:21

I have just finished my first corner to corner blanket (in picture), and am over half way through my next one.

I have many other WIPs, including 2 knitted scarves and 2 blankets!

My trouble is I see new wool and have to buy it, then want to start on it straight away! I got some real bargains from charity shops.

It's an addiction but I find it good for my anxiety.

Wow, brilliant pictures!

I am cross-stitching some Christmas tree decorations, and planning some pompom garlands (I bought a plastic pompom maker to save cutting out all those cardboard polos).

I should be making a bumbag for my DSIL, but I'm a bit nervous of all the zips.

DrewsWife · 16/11/2015 14:41

Great photos. nantucket your blanket is lovely. I am epically terrible at chrochet!
socks your sock would match my hats.
Everyone loved my hat and scarf last year that I'm spreading the rainbow around this year. I think a bit of colour on a winters day is lovely.

I've just handed over some prem baby cardigans and hats to the local hospital. I'm in the middle of a cardigan and hat for the youngest grandson and then it's going to be cushion covers. Then I must try the cross stitch again, as I have loads of kits.

Ooh such lovely thing you clever people are making Smile

I have just started a big rag rug - I only recently learnt how to do it (my sister went to day course on rugging, started one and when she saw me threw it at me saying 'I hate this, you finish it' Grin) and it turned out I loved it ! So I finished off her little one and now am doing a bigger one of my own.

Am also knitting some place mats fro myself out of some rough tweedy wool, some leg warmers for my sister, a cuddly toy for (grown up!) DD, and some gloves for DS's MIL. Have also got a few things finished for Knit for Peace that just need ends sewn in and I'll send them off.

I like to have lots of things on the go at once Grin

MovemberSucks · 16/11/2015 18:24

I'm making a corner to corner for a baby due in February. I did some zombie heads for Halloween and I'm doing some Christmas tree bunting (no pic for that yet).

I'm making Christmas bunting at the moment.

I've got one more piece to finish, another red triangle that will have a felt robin on a green button branch, and then it can go on the ribbon.

I can't decide between using a brown hessian type ribbon or a red and white merry christmas ribbon.

purpledaisies is the pterodactyl from the knitted dinosaurs book? They come out nicely (though the head pattern is wrong iirc)

NewBallsPlease00 · 16/11/2015 18:30

A cloud mobile for new baby

PurpleDaisies · 16/11/2015 18:33

My pterodactyl is from a jean greenhowe pattern booklet called knitted toys...there's a link further up the thread. He is looking good so far but I haven't sewn all the bits together yet. I might make a few and do a mobile for a new niece or nephew due in May. Will post a pic when I'm finished.
