Welcome to the 5th thread.

An amazing day to begin a new journey together. The thread babies are arriving and we take this as a positive nod from the great karma controller - whoever and whatever that may be.

Good luck to our thread, to the souls who read, those who post, those who drop in to learn and hold hands.

Our cyber bench is a supportive place, we sit outside hospitals as strong but scared women go to ride their wave. We huddle in our cottage when the weather is bleak, stormy or biting cold.

When the sun shines on us we share stories of real life, gain strength and giggle together in times of warm weather.

Phhht that was meant to preview.

I was going on to say the cottage now has a companion across the field, and there is a new bench just as comfortable down the path. A safe haven to those who are on their 40 week journey, and who are always welcome and loved by the 'mother thread'

Hello Tree, hello new thread.

Am wondering if it's possible to be on benches outside of Lins hospital and Mishta's in OZ at the same time?! God knows what i'm going to do if Shangrila goes into labour too

busierbee · 22/01/2010 11:12

Lovely welcome Tree.
So yes, here we all are.
Supporting women on their rocky roads post pregnancy trauma. There are some very good souls here. Today is an important day as it marks the first thread babies of women who have needed, given and received support after a traumatic termination. We are here whatever stage of the journey you are on - but if you are pregnant there is a sister thread next door. Hello sister thread.
Mother hens, budge up on that bench.

treedelivery · 22/01/2010 11:13

I know. Difficult to wear factor 50 and a duffle coat. Entirely possible though, through the genius of the t'interweb.

What a huge day for the threads.

Morning Katiecubs
The beauty of cyber space is that you can close your eyes, click your heels and arrive at whoevers bench you want to visit. It is our earned privilige I think.
Am flying off to see how Shangrila is.
And Kittens too - sending you special magic dust that makes time fly faster.

X posts Bee. Thank you for clarifying I came over all poetic, but may have failed to make sense!

Justa has written the most amazing words for her daddy on her thread.

OP posts:
busierbee · 22/01/2010 11:16

I am wearing a bikini under my sheepskin coat.
I also have the body of Elle Mcpherson under mine. Which is also the beauty of t'internet. You can choose the body you want.

busierbee · 22/01/2010 11:17

Flying off to Justa's now, not sure her daddy would have appreciated my bikini though so may change into something more demure.

treedelivery · 22/01/2010 11:19

Nah, she'd be bitter cold sat on a bench outside a drafty hospital in the north somewhere.

I'm sticking with my fat curves, insulation for the British climate. Besides I couldn't wear a bikini, I'd need to get in a bath of factor 50 first.

treedelivery · 22/01/2010 11:19

I need to clean my house and make biscuits. I'll be back.

katiecubs · 22/01/2010 11:22

Morning Bee - thanks for clarifying, phew much more relaxed now i don't have to worry about the jetlag

busierbee · 22/01/2010 11:24

Quite Katie.
Time travel is an amazing thing for us mumsnutters.
Oh boring boring Tree - come back with biscuits! Are they for wee gal's birthday?
Happy Birthday to you dear Hattiekins!

Katerina100 · 22/01/2010 11:26

Morning all, just wanted to drop by to send lots of love and luck to all who have just had, or are currently having, their babies on this momentous day. Thinking of everyone. Kate xx

busierbee · 22/01/2010 11:32

Hello Kate
How are you my dear?
Is everything going well for you?
I remember you well as we shared some events and anniversaries together.
Lovely of you to pop back
hugs

Katerina100 · 22/01/2010 12:31

Hello Bee!

It's lovely to be here. I would like to post more often, but things always seem to get in the way (rubbish excuse). I've been meaning to drop into the new thread too to say hello. I think everyone is congregating here today, so hope no one minds my brief update - I'm now 22 weeks, and am feeling more confident about things having made it past the 20 week scan.

I clearly remember Lins finding out she was pregnant shortly after my termination last year. It really gave me encouragement then in those horrible early days, and I hope these first thread babies can do the same for new people and anyone out there lurking. I have also been thinking of you, Justa, and all the other regulars, as everyone copes with their individual challenges.

Kate xx

busierbee · 22/01/2010 12:40

Yes please do congregate here.
I think it is easier for Mishta to read and post if we are all in the same spot.
Hello Mishta, waving across the seas.
Congratulations again to you Kate- and do keep in touch if you feel you want to.

treedelivery · 22/01/2010 13:20

well, I bring jammy dodgers. However i. you need to build your own as I have run out of energy and am yet to blob the jam on and ii. they are dairy free and really miss the clagginess butter brings [plus the salt, these coul dhave done with a pinch of salt].

Wonder how it's all going everywhere.

Oooh shiny new thread! Hello all.

Thank you for starting it Tree and how fitting that its also little treelette's birthday today. I hope you are all having a good day.

Congratulations Mishta on the birth of baby Bella but am sorry to hear of her problems. I will keep checking in to see how she is doing. Hope you are recovering well.

Am definately in Australia right now so passing round tray of cool drinks to ladies on the bench, but will look in on Shangrila as she waits for her baby.

Shangrila, how disappointing to have had your birth put back but maybe things might work out better for you. You certainly sound a lot more composed. Hope you don't have to wait too long .....

Monday is a good day for a baby - Burns birthday need to go out and catch my haggis this weekend

Lins - hope the sweep goes well. I had one for my 2nd birth and although it didn't work the induction at 42 weeks was very successful. By far my quickest and easiest birth.

Justa - I will pop over to your thread, but for the moment a quick wave from here. xxxx

Love to everyone else, Bee, Katerina (good to hear all is well with you), peanut, katie, Cant, MrsB.

busierbee · 22/01/2010 13:34

For the handmaidens;
Have texted Lins; she has had one lot of gel, tightenings but no labour stuff yet!
Yikes! Can you please all do a quick pelvic floor squeeze as homage to the Goddess of Labour?
Hello to you Eulalia - my man was at a Burn's night thing here on Tuesday- not sure why it was on Tuesday. He comes from not far from you as you know. Bamfshire - not sure if that is how you spell it.
I am not very good at Scottish.

treedelivery · 22/01/2010 13:37

Hello Eulalia

I love having people from the other thread over, I feel I should plump cushions.

here is my one year old birth story, for anyone who wants an oxytocin rush. I hope that is ok with everyone, and isn't painful for anyone.
Don't click if it would be, I don't actually imagine anyone will read it.

I am in wistful remembering mood today.

OP posts:
Eulalia · 22/01/2010 14:04

Have just read your birth story tree. Hee hee. Your dd will like that story in years to come!

Bee - its Banff. Actually about 70 miles from here, town itself is on the North coast so quite chilly.

Hope Lins is OK.

VivClicquot · 22/01/2010 14:40

Just marking my place on this really rather auspicious shiny new thread. I've got a good feeling about this one, ladies - ket's hope the good news that kicked it off is a sign of more to come.

Much love to you all xxx

Mishta · 22/01/2010 15:20

Hi all,

Almost 2am here, thought I'd give an update. Just got a call from John Hunter Hosp, where Bella was sent. Retrieval team had rang earlier when they'd arrived there to say all was well and stable, and I'd since spoken to her nurse, who informed me that on arrival she was found to have another pneumothorax on other side (did I already say that?). They were going to try to try to resolve that one by insertion of needle rather than insertion of 2nd chest drain. Anyway they promised to ring with updates thru the night. Hence the call @ 1:30. Her nurse told me that since he had spoken to me last they'd tried, unsuccessfully, to get rid of pneumothorax with needle. So they then inserted chest drain, and were mostly successful. Bella was still having trouble breathing though, despite huge concentration of oxygen, so they intubated her and gave her some stuff called curasurf (?sp). She has since been extubated and oxygen reduced to 48%, which is still high, but better than before. So, in short, they are hoping that she has turned the corner. I hope beyond hope they are right. And I can't thank you all enough for thinking of her - please continue to send healing thoughts our way.

Shangrila and Lins, the nurse at JHH told me they seem to think Bella's problems are the result of her being early. They think despite her good size and dates saying she was almost full term, she was younger than we thought. So, in hidsight, I wished I had have done what you both have and not rushed things. I felt she was safer on the outside than inside, which proved to be wrong. And, please, I hope I haven't scared either one of you xxx

And just quickly....
Thanks Tree for setting up new thread. Happy b'day to little Hattie. I will read her birth story one day - not that it would be upsetting to me now (anything but) but because I should try to get back to sleep, ready for another big day tomorrow.

For the same reason I will catch up on Justa post another day in the near future. Hope you are going okay Justa xx

Bee, thank you, once again, for your usual consideration of others. Much easier for me to post on one thread at moment, but would also like to share with the others. And I'm sure your DP, at least, would be appreciating bikinis under your coat

Katerina, congratulations to you. I always thought hearing others 'success' stories would bring hope to those who come here, but realised that was easy for me to say, as I was already pregnant ( and about to get a CVS) when I joined. However, I'm glad it was true for you. Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy xx ps: hope I haven't scared you, or other pregnant ones here, either

Eulalia, Katie and everyone else, welcome to Oz. Lovely to have you here. Thank you all once again for support. Must try to get back to sleep now. Will keep you posted though xxxx

katiecubs · 22/01/2010 15:42

So glad to hear Bella has turned a corner Mishta - sounds like she is in very good hands. I will keep definitely keep sending healing thoughs and praying for her speedy recovery.

Hope you manage to have a good sleep now, you must be exhausted xxx

Cantdothisagain · 22/01/2010 16:55

CONGRATULATIONS Mishta! What a beautiful name. I am sorry to hear about the breathing difficulties and I hope she continues to improve. And that you aren't too exhausted - cant work out at all what time it is with you. Bella is such a fitting name though; what perfect meaning.

Sending labour vibes to Lins too...

Shangrila, you definitely did right going with instinct. Well done and here's for a problem-free birth in a midwife led unit for you and baby Shangrila.

Will keep checking in for news; had been out all day so couldn't check in earlier, and now LittleMissCant is being demanding...
