I never thought I’d agree with Putin or his decisions but he is planning to soon sign a new law that means pedophiles are forced to be chemically castrated.
(I don’t think it was his idea but he’ll still get the credit for signing it).

For me this is the most obvious solution and I do not understand why this isn’t common policy in every country.

Chemical castration is painless and can be reversed, so it’s not like we’re denying them their human rights or whatever.

I would argue that any sort of sexual crime should result in chemical castration but you would think peadophiles should have this done automatically.

So why is it not law in this country or most other countries that I know of?

There was a thread the other day about a peado and lots of posters agreed he could never be rehabilitated, but he would still eventually get out.
So surely forcing chemical castration would at least reduce his chances of reoffending.

Interested to know other peoples views.

YABU - chemical castration should not be made law (and why).

YANBU - forced chemical castration should be law.

When people say they're pro death penalty I presume they're meaning in a perfect world, with no margin for it to be abused or any errors to take place?
Basically it has to be used with 100% absolute certainty the correct person is being put to death. @Dotjones i presume this would be you?

Because I'm too cynical to imagine a system in place that couldn't guarantee that, I'd never be pro death penalty along with a few other reasons which are a bit more personal belief based.

But, I'm an absolute hypocrite if I'm honest because I know full well there are monsters who exist who I'd happily beat to death with my bare hands and never think of them again.

No. They mean they are quite happy to off the odd innocent person because life is cheap.

You will have noticed the complete tumbleweed on this thread alone, when the question about miscarriages of justice has been raised.

One,I would never agree with anything that idiot said.
Two,they would become extremely violent and kill .

Andthereyougo · 08/08/2023 19:28

Bullet, noose, injection. Not bothered which as long as it wipes them off the earth.

Not sure via quotes who said they were a 'big fan of the dealth penalty' but are you a trump supporter? I cannot understand why anyone would condone death. I think personally fuckers that hurt children should suffer and suffer until the day of their own deaths be that enclosed in a small cell in a prison or whatever but i do not believe paedophilia should ever be given a sentence as in years. They have taken away the lives of the kids they violated and should be in prison for the rest of their lives too. Paedos cannot be changed. They will never have a normal mindset and while I would never set the bastards free from prison I would also never let them free by killing them. Why should prison officers become murderers because of the vermin that roam this earth? No they should suffer in prison no matter the cost to the tax payer. I know it is a different situation when Timothy McVey was given lethal injection but he got a light punishment for what he did.

The death penalty is no deterrent because when people kill it’s in times of high stress and they aren’t thinking about the punishment.

if you look at countries that have the death penalty, they almost always have much higher t murder rates than those that don’t.

Those of you thinking that it would save taxpayers money don’t realise that in a reasonably humane society, the death penalty actually costs more than life without parole.

A death penalty prisoner will appeal, appeal and appeal again. This will cost millions as both defence and prosecution are paid for by the taxpayer. You could of course remove the right for legal representation but then you are asking for miscarriages of justice.

Death penalty prisoners cannot be kept in normal prisons. They cannot be allowed to mix as we have already given them the ultimate sanction so if they decide to kill another prisoner or a guard, we can’t execute them twice. So they require a special wing, kept in isolation and with a greater number of prison officers to ensure they can be handled safely. If we follow this process, we let them appeal until they exhaust all avenues and then execute them, we could be looking at 10-15 years of extremely expensive incarceration. I read somewhere tHat when California reintroduced the death penalty they calculated that the cost of execution would have kept them in prison for 300 years.

The problem is a lot of the people who do advocate for the death penalty don't really care. Much like with the bedroom tax, they are happy to spend money to teach people to adhere to their values. Just look at the current government that has a permanent blank chequebook for projects of ideology.

My opposition to the death penalty isn't economic. Nor practical. It's purely moral. There are absolutely no circumstances - no matter how you try to dress them up - that can ever justify the cold blooded planned murder of a human being.

In a perverse way, when it comes to the death penalty, Saudi Arabia should be held up as the model to aspire to. At least they have the honesty to execute in public, not hide it away like a dirty little secret. Like the US does, and the UK did.
