I never thought I’d agree with Putin or his decisions but he is planning to soon sign a new law that means pedophiles are forced to be chemically castrated.
(I don’t think it was his idea but he’ll still get the credit for signing it).

For me this is the most obvious solution and I do not understand why this isn’t common policy in every country.

Chemical castration is painless and can be reversed, so it’s not like we’re denying them their human rights or whatever.

I would argue that any sort of sexual crime should result in chemical castration but you would think peadophiles should have this done automatically.

So why is it not law in this country or most other countries that I know of?

There was a thread the other day about a peado and lots of posters agreed he could never be rehabilitated, but he would still eventually get out.
So surely forcing chemical castration would at least reduce his chances of reoffending.

Interested to know other peoples views.

YABU - chemical castration should not be made law (and why).

YANBU - forced chemical castration should be law.

Put them in prison for murder even!

Let them swing. Problem solved.

I wouldn't waste time and money on the filthy fuckers.
A bullet is cheaper and permanent.

Yep.

fullbloom87 · 08/08/2023 01:28

@Nevermay what part of 'chemical' castration don't you understand?

BitOutOfPractice · 08/08/2023 01:33

Im not looking to Putin to be an arbiter of “human rights or whatever”.

Lwrenagain · 08/08/2023 01:33

The crimes then committed towards children are far more heinous.

They're raped with objects far more deadly than a penis and far more brutally.

Please dont support this without being aware of how much more harm will occur to children.

Giggorata · 08/08/2023 01:35

It doesn't work, the drives are still there and if they can't express them sexually, they tend to become more vastly more violent and sadistic.
There is no simple solution.

WandaWonder · 08/08/2023 01:37

It doesn't work

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 08/08/2023 01:50

Well I think it’s a great idea.

Yes there is a simple solution. Bring back the gallows. Or use the firing squad

Lwrenagain · 08/08/2023 06:24

Children being raped with things like rolling pins, dirty toilet brushes, suffering sadism on the most depraved levels isn't a good idea @babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo

Sadly, the only thing we can do is keep predators away from children.

Rehabilitation doesn't work.
Chemical castration doesn't work.

SorrentoLemon · 08/08/2023 06:29

I'm sure I watched a documentary on this years ago. A guy in America who was a paedophile and wanted to get castrated. I can't remember if he went ahead with it or not, but I do remember it being said that it doesn't remove their urges and they can in fact become more violent and use other foreign objects (as well as their fingers etc) to abuse children.

Natsku · 08/08/2023 06:29

It won't help, as others have said. The only answer is to not release them from prison/only release them into controlled communities with no access to children (prison lite) or the internet

WandaWonder · 08/08/2023 06:43

it is a policy to make the policy makers feel good about themselves for being able to tick a box

iloveeverykindofcat · 08/08/2023 06:51
  1. physical punishment does nothing to deter crime and may increase it
  2. no way in hell should the state have that power

But enjoy your self-indulgent moralism I guess

loislovesstewie · 08/08/2023 06:52

It doesn't work. As others have pointed out., And judicial murder isn't the answer either. Think about all the miscarriages of justice there have been. The 'worse ' the crime the more people bay for blood, we want to see justice and the justice is execution. And what if the wrong person is found guilty?
When I was working, I actually dealt with quite a few sex offenders, I still wouldn't wish them dead ,despite knowing exactly what they had done.
And Putin as some sort of defender of justice???? Jut no.

Shurleyknot · 08/08/2023 06:59

Vile thread and yes you are being unreasonable. Statistics show vermin paedophiles will not stop no matter what they will just use more violent ways of doing things. That and the fact you are stupid enough to actually agree with anything Putin says makes this thread fairly disturbing. I actually think I might report it to be honest.

Messyhair321 · 08/08/2023 07:05

No it's a ridiculous policy. You need to do more research into what prevents paedophilia & protects children from them

Twyford · 08/08/2023 07:13

LadyMaryTalbotCrawleysEyebrows · 08/08/2023 01:08

Let them swing. Problem solved.

How is the problem solved if, by using chemical castration, society has effectively caused them to be violent?

NotQuiteUsual · 08/08/2023 07:15

Any sexual crimes against children should result in a life sentence with no anonymity, served in the general prison populace. Chemical castration is certainly not the way.

AgnesX · 08/08/2023 07:16

Except it doesn't change the behaviours. I don't know why they do what they do but that needs to be looked at.

Twyford · 08/08/2023 07:16

LadyMaryTalbotCrawleysEyebrows · 08/08/2023 02:57

Yes there is a simple solution. Bring back the gallows. Or use the firing squad

So do you think we should kill people simple for having paedophile inclinations, even if they haven't put them into effect? Do you want to be on the jury that convicts someone for that?

Why not take it to its logical conclusion, and kill everyone we think might commit a crime? Too bad, of course, if that is you or someone you love.

iloveeverykindofcat · 08/08/2023 07:16

@Messyhair321 people like this don't let a little thing like facts, established by those who have done the difficult work of studying such topics, get in the way of revelling in their baser instincts.

Twyford · 08/08/2023 07:18

NotQuiteUsual · 08/08/2023 07:15

Any sexual crimes against children should result in a life sentence with no anonymity, served in the general prison populace. Chemical castration is certainly not the way.

So does that mean you want to give the prison population licence to attack the people involved? Or are you going to put the responsibility on the warders to keep them safe? Because, of course, the prison sentence is the punishment, not anything else a load of thugs in prison might decide to inflict.

WarmWinterSun · 08/08/2023 07:19

Pretty offensive title OP, particularly for all of those suffering in Ukraine.
