To agree with Putin. *MNHQ adding content warning for CSA*

I never thought I’d agree with Putin or his decisions but he is planning to soon sign a new law that means pedophiles are forced to be chemically castrated.
(I don’t think it was his idea but he’ll still get the credit for signing it).

For me this is the most obvious solution and I do not understand why this isn’t common policy in every country.

Chemical castration is painless and can be reversed, so it’s not like we’re denying them their human rights or whatever.

I would argue that any sort of sexual crime should result in chemical castration but you would think peadophiles should have this done automatically.

So why is it not law in this country or most other countries that I know of?

There was a thread the other day about a peado and lots of posters agreed he could never be rehabilitated, but he would still eventually get out.
So surely forcing chemical castration would at least reduce his chances of reoffending.

Interested to know other peoples views.

YABU - chemical castration should not be made law (and why).

Hint: recognising the basic fact that neither castration or the death penalty work as a deterrent does not make anyone a proponent.

Firstly paedophilia is not a crime, it's an involuntary innate disorder. You can't punish people if they haven't committed a crime and you can't punish someone for having a serious disorder.

Secondly, there is no proof that chemical castration actually removes this disorder.

What we should be focussing on is more robust sentencing guidelines for sexual abuse of children and research into the causes of paedophilia so it can be better treated.

Seems a little bit pointless they’re not going to reoffend imprison due to lack of available victims.

Therefore it seems more appropriate that the first sign of unnatural behaviour they are locked up, but then who wants to pay for that ?

I’m sure lots of people have urges not all people act on them there for the ones that act on them need eliminating

You don't need to be an expert to know that someone who can't rape will get violent and sadistic in other ways like using a knife instead.

You shouldn't agree with Putin. Castration doesn't remove the urge and considering he decriminalised domestic violence, I can only imagine what he has in store for other groups like gay people. Plus the police and justice system get it wrong sometimes. Don't you think it's the same in Russia?

I think chemical castration is actually depo provera which is given to women for birth control. My doctor actually warned me against taking it by showing me the insert, but I pressed for it as I had endo. I was never the same again and I did lose my sex drive. It's funny that something routinely given to women is thought a terrible punishment for men.
As for Paedophiles, I would warehouse them away from actual human beings, or preferably put them down.

This is almost certainly going to be used against gay men.

Putting has advanced and passed multiple laws banning portrayal or positive discussion of gay relationships because he claims it will sexually corrupt children. His government has actively sought to tiw homosexuality to pedophilia in the coirts of law and the minds of the public. It's just a quick hop from that to declaring an open gay person a pedophile by default and punishing them accordingly.

This is Russia's steeping stone to legalized castration of its gay citizens.
